WELCOMING REMARKS FROM
MALAYSIA CHAPTER CHAIR

Assalamu alaikum and good day everyone. First and foremost, I would
like to thank you, Professor. Amara Amara, Professor
Yoshifumi Nishio, Prof. Myung Hoon Sunwoo, and CAS HQ for give
us an opportunity to execute a CASS Day in Malaysia Chapter. We are
very pleased to be able to welcome all of you to Malaysia. Two years
without a face-to-face program is the greatest challenge for us in IEEE
CASS in terms of the constraints of implementing volunteer programs
but with the whole spirit of the CASS committee, we can overcome it. I
hope that with a face-to-face program like this CASS DAY, we can take
full advantage of this program and also hope to get full involvement
from the members of CASS MALAYSIA. I would also like to express
my gratitude to the CASS committee who tirelessly support making
CASS DAY MALAYSIA 2022 a success, especially Dr. Fakhrul, Dr.
Nazim, Dr. Asral, Dr. Luthffi and many others who gave a high
commitment in realizing CASS DAY 2022. Although we got short
notice from CASS HQ to implement this program, with the high spirit
of work shown by the committees, CASS DAY 2022 Malaysia could be
implemented. Thank you very much for your efforts and your precious
time. Finally, I hope all members have fun on CASS Day and can
exchange opinions on strengthening CASS MALAYSIA's organization
and subsequently CASS HQ and creating beautiful memories while in
this program. Thank you.

Prof. Amara AMARA (PAST-PRESIDENT) He was Deputy
Managing Director of ISEP in charge of Research and
International Cooperation. His research interests are mainly
focusing on Low Power circuit design and on Design and
Technology Interactions for advanced Electron Devices (SOI,
DGates FD SOI, Ultra Thin Body SOI, 3D Integration etc.) In
1999, he did a sabbatical at Stanford University where he joined
Professor De Micheli's group. His current position is ICT for
Development Strategist at "Terre des hommes" an International
NGO specialized in Child Protection.

Prof. Myung Hoon Sunwoo (CHAIR-ELECT) has been with
school of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Ajou University
in Suwon, Korea, since 1992, where he is currently a Professor.
Recently, he was elected as IEEE CASS President-Elect (2022-
2023) and is currently an IEEE Fellow. His current research
interests are artificial intelligence circuits and systems, low-
power algorithms and architectures, medical imaging diagnosis,
and deep-learning-based channel coding.

Prof. Yoshifumi Nishio (2018-2021 CASS VP-RAM) joined the
Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at
Tokushima University, Tokushima Japan in 1993, where he is
currently a Professor. His research interests are in the areas of
nonlinear circuits engineering, including analysis and application
of chaos in electrical circuits, analysis of synchronization in
coupled oscillatory circuits, development of analyzing methods
for nonlinear circuits, theory and application of cellular neural
networks, neural network architecture, complex networks,
evolutionary computation, and bio-signal processing.
