relationships with each other and provide support to people with disabilities to regularly visit
the library which will increase social opportunities with others as well. Furthermore, the

divided into five which are throw and catch, color me, aerobic ventures, food booth and
exhibition. Through this activity, participants can form an attitude of cooperation with each
other because the activity is carried out in groups. Therefore, this activity can also increase
the confidence of OKU participants to socialize better. Finally, the organized event allows
participants to be interested in visiting this library in the future.
1.2 History of library
The Sir Hendry Gurney Library, which was founded and is now located on Jalan Dato'
Abd Malek in Seremban, served as the foundation for the early history of the Negeri Sembilan
Library. On July 30, 1952, the Sir Hendry Gurney Library received its formal opening. Thus,
under the Negeri Sembilan Public Library Corporation Enactment, the Negeri Sembilan
government assumed control of this library's management in 1978.
In 1987, PPANS relocated to the Old Negeri Sembilan Government Secretary Building
on Jalan Dato' Hamzah and took over the Sir Hendry Gurney Library as its first location. The
National Library Department of Malaysia received funding from the Federal Government on
March 29, 1988, and the building project for the library's refurbishment got under way. It was
finished in May 1989, and public service commenced in August 1989.
The State Library, PPANS, is housed by the State Government in the Wisma Umno
Building as a Temporary Building. The Umno Wisma Building was renovated with funding
provided by the government of Negeri Sembilan, and on January 11th, 2007, the State
Library and PPANS administrative centre opened. Beginning on January 11, 2007, PPANS
relocated to the Umno Wisma Building, and on January 29, 2007, SUK, Negeri Sembilan
received official possession of the State Library Building on Jalan Dato' Hamzah.
This structure is situated in the middle of Seremban town in a strategic location that
draws visitors who want to use the amenities offered by the library. The Ground level,
Mezzanine floor, and First floor are the three floors that make up the State Library. In 2018,
the Negeri Sembilan Government decided to move the PPANS headquarters building and the
State Library to the Negeri Sembilan State Development Complex building located in
Seremban 2. The new State Library building has an area of 57,000 square feet. The process
of moving library items and work development work has been carried out very regularly.
The State Library, Seremban 2 was inaugurated on 10 September 2022. The strategic
location of the library is located near the town of Seremban 2 and close to various public
facilities. There are many improvements and innovations that can be created here including
services, collections of physical and digital materials, programs and activities due to having a
wider and more comfortable space for the people of Negeri Sembilan to use.

decided to hold a face-to-face event. Events that are held face to face are usually more
effective in attracting people to come to the library. Through this method too, many activities
can be carried out compared to doing events online.
5.0. ACTIVITIES
5.1 Throw and Catch
Throw and Catch activity is the cooperative activity that involves the disabled children
aged 7 to 12 years old to throw and catch an object which is a ball. This activity requires
the participants to assemble a group in a circle. A group should be in four to five
participants. Give a child in a group a ball and ask him to throw it at other children while
saying their name out loud. Play on until all teammates have taken a turn. They are allowed
to pass a ball to their teammates by utilizing various ways including by kicking, rolling, or
tossing them over their heads. A facilitator is assigned for each group to monitor them. This
activity provides the disabled children a chance to build teamwork and cooperation by
communicating with each other to pass a ball. This activity helps improve overall strength
and agility as well as improve hand-eye coordination and gross motor skills among disabled
children. This activity allows disabled children to practice their gross motor skills by holding
and passing a ball to another person. These are crucial in helping them master more
challenging skills later on.
5.2 Color Me
The next activity is an activity named Color Me. Color Me is an activity where participants
have to color and decorate the given picture so that it becomes a beautiful poster. There are
several objectives in creating this activity. The objective for this activity is to evaluate the
talent and test the creativity of the participants in decorating the poster so that the poster
becomes interesting and colorful. The next objective is to generate a spirit of cooperation
between the participants because it is necessary to carry out this activity as a group. This
activity is suitable for teenagers aged 13 to 18 years. Participants perform this activity in
groups. A group will have 5 participants. The group that successfully colors and decorates
the most beautiful poster within the set time will be selected as the winner. The organizers
have provided several tools for decorating such as colored pencils, crayon, colorful
permanent markers and colored paper. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own
material from home to decorate the poster because there is concern that the material
available is insufficient. There are participants who bring additional
materials such as ribbons, stickers, water colors and colorful pens.
5.3 Aerobic Ventures
Aerobic Ventures is an activity involving exercise for OKU adults. They need to do
aerobic but not too forcefully if it cannot be done by all the body parts. Only do exercises on
the body parts that can work well. This activity aims to ensure that this group feels proud of
their achievements, have the opportunity to socialize with others, increase their self-
confidence and also increase their stamina. Therefore, before starting this aerobic exercise,
the facilitator will identify the physical ability of these Oku adults so as not to harm their health.
They will be gathered on the grand floor of the library in large groups and taught to do aerobic
exercise step by step and according to the flow of the song played on
the speaker. This activity is suitable for adults aged from 19 and above.
5.4 Carnival Booth
This event also provides booths that sell foods and drinks for visitors who come to the
library. Not only various types of food and drinks are sold at the stall, but souvenirs such as
keychains, notebooks and so on are also sold. There are also stalls that do sand painting
activities. So, visitors who cannot register for the activities provided, can participate in this
game. This stall operates throughout the event, so visitors can buy at any time. Although the
weather is very hot, the stalls are still filled with customers. Stalls that sell drinks and desserts
are the best sellers among visitors because of the hot weather.
5.5 Exhibition
In addition, booths for exhibitions are also available for visitors. Visitors can come to the
exhibition at any time because it is open throughout the event. The exhibition booth is located
in the middle of the library, so it will be an attraction for anyone passing by the area. The
exhibition is about the collection of books in the library that are related to special people such
as autism. Not only the book collection is on display, but the equipment or facilities available
to special people in the library are also on display. This exhibition is believed to be well
received because it is a unique display that is rarely done by some events. Visitors can
increase their knowledge and information about this special group. They will also know the
function of each equipment provided to that group.
6.0 METHODOLOGY
6.1 Feedback Form Design
Google form are used to create feedback forms and surveys that are divided into multiple
question types. Google form used to obtain information related to the participants' opinion
and experience joining the event that we organized specially for OKU people. This google
form allows us to analyze the result in real time in order to measure our success after the
event gets completed.
6.2 Feedback Respondent
The respondents of feedback are disabled people from the Negeri Sembilan community
who participate in the OKU event at the Perpustakaan Awam Negeri Sembilan. In addition,
the respondents of feedback form include children, teenagers and adults that starting from
aged 7 years old and above.
6.3 Feedback Instrument
The instrument utilized to collect the opinions of the respondent regarding the event is
questionnaire. Questionnaire is a set of questions that mix of close-ended questions and
open-ended questions. Questionnaire is the best alternative to collect the information as it is
faster than another option such as observation. By using questionnaires, the information will
be automatically gathered. The questionnaires will be disseminated to the respondents
through whatsApp once the event is over. A set of questions consists 26 questions that
divided into 6 parts which are:
I. Part A: Demographic Analysis
II. Part B: Event
III. Part C: Activities
IV. Part D: Venue and Food
V. Part E: Final Thought
VI. Part F: Others
7.0 FEEDBACK FORM
7.1Description of feedback form
7.1.1. Part A: Demographic Analysis
In this part, the demographic analysis section only includes multiple choice questions
and all the participants are required to choose suitable answers that are related to their age
gender as well as the category of disabilities. We include this part to gather information
related to the personal information of the participants in order to allow us to comprehend
certain background details about an audience.
7.1.2. Part B: Event
In this part of the event, it focuses on the question of the event that we held. We desire
to gather the opinion of participants about our event in order to find out if the event was good
enough. This part consists of six questions in multiple types of questions. The questions in
this part include open ended questions and close ended questions.
The first question we stated is about their experience about the event like this. This
question is an open- ended question which the participants only require to tick yes or no. We
want to discover if they have attended an event like this. This question will aid us prove
repeated engagement. The second question is about the level of satisfaction of the
participants regarding our event to find out if the event meets their expectations as their
expectation determines the success of our events. The participants are required to rate from
1 to 5 based on their level of satisfaction. The third and fourth question is asking about what
they like and dislike about the event. This question is an open-ended question which the
participants allow to give an answer as they wish in open text format. Moreover, this question
allows us to identify what they consider and make necessary improvements to future events.
The next question is about the awareness of this event is important to disabled people. This
question is a close-ended question which allows participants to only tick yes or no. The last
question is about if the event assists them in skill development. This question is also a close-
ended question in which participants only have to answer the question by ticking yes or no.
This question provides useful data for us to discover the effectiveness of our event.
7.1.3. Part C: Activities
This section will focus on the activities held throughout the event. The activity held is
to attract customers to participate in this event. However, we need to know the level of
satisfaction of the participants towards the activities held. There are 6 questions asked to the
participants via google form.
The first question is about the opinion of the participants whether the activity is
interesting for them. Participants only need to answer yes or no. The second question is to
find out which activities the participants participated in. Participants need to tick which activity
they are participating in. Question 3 until 7 is requiring participants to give a rate from level 1
to 5 about their level of satisfaction with the activities they participate in. The next question
is about the opinion of the participants, do they feel that the activities held are suitable for the
designated age level. The other question is related to the theme which is "Break the Barriers,
Play Together". It asks about whether cooperation is realized from this activity. The last
question focuses on the facilitator. Participants were asked about facilitators who helped or
not throughout the event.
7.1.4. Part D: Venue and Food
For this segment, the evaluation of the venue and food at the event was the main topic
of the questions on this part. Firstly, we questioned them about the suitability of the venue to
do all the activities that were provided. This is because the venue might be a significant issue
because it will affect who attends the event. Venue selection is one of the most important
things to ensure that all the activities at the event run well and to ensure that the venue is
comfortable. Furthermore, we asked them the question about the satisfaction of the venue.
This is the most essential thing so that they are always in a comfortable state.
Additionally, we asked the questions about the quality of food. This is because to
ensure that the participants get in the good condition of food and there are no unwanted
problems such as food poisoning. This is very necessary so that the food is in good condition.
Moreover, we asked them to give some description if they have any problems with the venue
and food. This is a very essential question to ask because for us to know the problems they
face regarding the venue and food. Lastly, we ask them to give some opinion about what is
prioritized in the selection of venue and food. This ensures that the venue and food can be
improved for future events.
7.1.5. Part E: Final Thought
The final thought section is the section where participants express what they think
about this event. Participants were given the opportunity to present their opinions. There are
2 questions that will be answered by the participants. For the first question, participants can
write everything about the event including activities, venue, food, facilitators and so on. While
the second question is about suggestions from the participants to improve the upcoming
event.
7.1.6. Part F: Others
For this part, the question about additional comments about the event as a whole need
to be asked because we need to know whether the participants are satisfied or not. In fact,
through this we can find out the shortcomings done during the event and improve to run the
event in the future.
8.0 CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the "A Day for OKU'' event with the theme Break the Barrier: Play Together
was held to strengthen relations between each other as well as to improve and enhance the skills
that suited to their particular disability. This event has provided many activities which are Throw
and Catch, Color Me, Aerobic Ventures, carnival booths and exhibitions to disabled people in
order to bring joy among them while improving and enhancing their skill simultaneously. Thus,
this event also allows disabled people to explore the collection of resources, facilities and
services available in Perpustakaan Awam Negeri Sembilan. We held this event in the hope that
it will be of interest to the disabled people. Due to that reason, we create a feedback form to gain
helpful feedback from participants. Feedback form allows us to collect opinions from disabled
people for the purpose of gaining information regarding the disabled people experience during
the event so we are able to discover the areas for improvement that can be applied in the
upcoming event.
