STRANGE FRUIT
Strange Fruit is an
artist collective that
continuously explores
the photographic
medium to present
images illustrating the
socio-cultural
landscape.
Strange Fruit follows a contemporary vision on the photographic medium that aims to
show a broad spectrum of photo-based artworks highlighting the eccentricities of the
Philippines.
The group’s mission is to continuously champion photography as an artistic medium
through the formidable vision of its members. They bring a diverse collection of
photographs showcasing the tragedy & beauty of life in the archipelago, the depth &
color in our culture & the continuum of ironies that are ever present in our society.
It is a disentanglement of everything that we are. It is a homage to the gods, a tribute for
the forlorn, a lament for the dead. It is an ode to the strange & surreal that continue to
haunt us as a nation.

Parallels
While still partially operating within the limitations of
the pandemic, the photographers have continued to
re-examine their archives , reflecting on images that
strongly resonate with their subconscious. The result
is a diverse collection showing multiple perspectives
from some of the most active, visionary and
contemporary photographers today.

Insights
It's great to be back viewing master pieces in galleries. I get to be exposed of so many
ways how an artist can tell their stories. Though I can only participate via virtual hopping to
their sites this would be a better eye-opening and mind-blowing experience if I get to visit
the galleries so I hope COVID would die down soonest.
01 |ART UNDERGROUND
MANILA
I like how two artists have a simple approach for their
art production. One artist tells how an artist is doing
when in Pandemic. And another making a statement
with her textile pieces.
02 | PASEO GALLERY
At first glance I thought the pieces were photographs!
It is neat black and white painting of dolls. The
connection between the message and subject matter
fitted just right to be understood right away for
spectators.
03 | STRANGE FRUIT
Now this was a fresh sight for my eyes. I rarely see
exhibits with Photography as genre so this was also
eye opening. With various artists participating I get to
experience different approach with their art.
