Criminology aims to develop your understanding of the reasons why people commit
crimes and the process of criminal investigations. Throughout the course you’ll be
expected to apply what you learn to real life situations and criminal cases. You’ll study
units such as:
• Crime and punishment
• Crime scene to courtroom
• Perception of crime
• Changing awareness of crime
During the length of the course you may have the opportunity to hear from a range of
guest speakers including barristers and crime scene investigators (CSI) from the police
force. You will study the certificate in year one and the diploma in year two. You’ll also
have the chance to visit courtrooms, giving you an insight into the world of criminology.

Apprenticeships
