5RasGas Profile

1991 The State of Qatar is a fast-growing economy with one of the
highest per capita Gross Domestic Products (GDPs) in the
First gas production world1. The country’s boisterous economic growth over the
past 15 years is directly linked to its vast reserves of oil and
natural gas.
The first natural gas reserve was discovered in 1971, which
gradually paved the way for a new source of revenue
generation. Today, the country is heralded as a leader in LNG
exports, with one of the largest non-associated, natural gas
fields in the world – the North Field.

LNG TRAINS

RasGas began operations of its first onshore LNG train
in 1999. Within a span of 10 years, RasGas successfully
built seven LNG trains with a total production capacity of
approximately 37 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa).
The construction of the seven trains was carried out on
schedule and to the highest safety standards. Each train is
equipped with advanced onshore and offshore technology
for increased production.
