Teen Obesity
Teen obesity is a worldwide problem that teens face in the world today. A pproximately
12.7 million, or 17 percent, of children and adolescents are obese according to aacap.org.
Unhealthy weight gain due to poor diet and lack of exercise is responsible for over 300,000
deaths each year. A few extra pounds does not suggest obesity although they might mean it’s
time to start eating healthier. Obesity most commonly begins in ages 5 to 6, or during
adolescence. Studies have shown that a child who is obese between the ages of 10 and 13 has
an 80 percent chance of becoming an obese adult. Some health issues associated with obesity
include heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, and some forms of cancer. Obesity
can also lead to social disabilities and unhappiness. Some studies show that being obese can
lead to bullying, as the victim or perpetrator of name calling, physical bullying, and teasing-
more than normal weight children. In the long term, a teen with obesity has a high chance of
being obese as an adult. Kids with obesity may miss more school than other children without
obesity. Changes in the environments where children spend their time—like homes, schools,
and community settings—can help children achieve and maintain a healthy weight by making it
easier to eat nutritious foods, get at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily, watch less
television, and eat fewer foods and beverages high in added sugars or solid fats according to
cdc.gov. Being obese is not healthy for teens because they get made fun of everyday which
might lead to depression and their condition may get worse. Stop teen obesity by helping your
children eat healthier.

I was seven years old and I was playing with some friends on a Saturday night. We were
playing with a bouncy ball by my apartment complex's pool. It was all closed down since it was
still fall but we didn't care. My friend threw the bouncy ball into the pool area by accident and he
didn't want to climb the fence to go get it. So I had to go get it. I was climbing over the fence with
no trouble what so ever. I got over and was looking for the ball and I couldn't find it. I looked at
the tarp covering the pool and the ball was on top of it. I had to use a pool scoop to get it. When
I got it, I threw it over the fence and started to climb over. I got to the top of the fence and
started to climb down when suddenly I was hanging from my pants. My pants were stuck on
some spikes at the top of the fence. I heard a ripping sound and the last thing I saw was the
pavement. I was conscious again in a few seconds but I will never forget the time I fell 12 feet
from a fence to get a bouncy ball.

Over the summer break for 6th grade, I went to Florida with my dad, sister, and I.
We packed everything the night before we left and everything was going smoothly. We
woke up at 1:45 the next morning and got in the car, having worn our clothes to bed last
night. We were on the highway to Florida in 10 minutes and everyone was feeling
excited. It got to 3 A.M. before me and my sister fell asleep because we were so tired.
We woke up about 2 hours later and went to Subway to get lunch. After, we got back in
the car and continued our trip to Florida. We had these computers that would strap onto
the back of the headrests in the car and my sister and I could play games on them with
each other on the road. We played that for a while and we got to Georgia and rented a
hotel to sleep in for the night. The next day we drove 4 hours to get to CoCo Beach in
Florida where we were staying. We decided that we would go and swim in the ocean for
a while before we went and got our hotel. We swam for 3 hours because we lost track of
time. We were walking back to the car soaking wet and realized, we had no towels. We
forgot our towels at home and no we had nothing to dry off with. We had to ride to the
hotel and get our room, while we were soaking wet and wait for another 10 minutes for
the room to be ready before we could actually get showered and dried off. The next day
we went to a store and got our towels that we still use whenever we go to a pool or the
ocean to remind us of how dumb our family is when it comes to packing.

3D Printing
3D printing is basically printing items in 3D from a digital file. The task is done by printing
the object layer by layer until the object is built. Each of a layers is viewed as a very thin layer of
3D object. All of this starts with the file. The file that is used is known as CAD( Computer Aided
Design ). This file has all the specs needed to print this certain object and is made by a 3D
modeling application and a 3D scanner. 3D scanners use a variety of types of technology.
Examples are: time of flight/ modulated light/ volumetric scanning and many more that are very
important for this function to be completed.(What is 3D printing) Recently, major companies
such as Microsoft, Dell, Apple, Samsung, etc. are investing a lot of money in 3D printing so they
can print out their technologies. 3D modeling software usually can be really expensive or some
of them can be free. For example, an open source software, Blender, is free and you can use it
to 3D print your objects.(3D printing for Dummies) 3D printing poses many advances in the
world. We can use 3D printing to make artificial limbs in a cheap way, we can 3D print organs
for people with missing organs, the possibilities are endless. Engineers whose job is to design
things can use this device and easily 3D print a model of the item they plan to build and this can
give them a good idea of what their design will look like in real life.(Explain that stuff)

Gina Sutton
If you could do something about your job choice, what would it be? Because I’m a stay
at home mom, I have to take care of kids, dinners, and my house and lots of other things, I wish
I would have been a stay at home mom earlier. If you could go to school anywhere you wanted
to learn anything you wanted, what would it be? I wish I would have followed through with my
dream and gone to Michigan state university and become a veterinarian. If you could meet
anyone in the world who would it be and why? I would like to meet Bruce Springsteen. I think he
has amazing stories and I like his views on the world, humanity, and politics. I think he would be
fun to listen to him tell the stories. If you could do anything different to your childhood, what
would it be? I would have enjoyed it more and not been in such a rush to grow up! You are a kid
for a very short number of years, you will be an adult until you die. How have you made
progress from your childhood to now? I have made progress from my childhood because I was
able to pay attention and learn as I went through my life. Not all of my experiences in life have
been good ones, but I try to learn something from every situation and experience, good or bad,
and let those lessons help me as I grow and learn more every day. What is one decision you
would have wished you would have thought more about earlier in life and why? I wish I would
have thought more about getting married at such a young age. In hindsight, I didn’t know myself
well enough yet and the marriage didn’t end up working out. I would have liked to avoid that
experience. What is your greatest weakness in life and why? I believe that my greatest
weakness is that I sometimes don’t put myself before other people. I think that it's important for
people to be able to take care and time of and for themselves sometimes because you are no
good to anyone else if you aren’t good to yourself. What is your greatest professional
achievement? In my career prior to becoming a stay at home mom, I learned a new 3D
engineering software very quickly after having only been at the company for a short time and
was actually asked to train other people who had worked there much longer on how to use the
software to model the components necessary for my job. What's your dream job? My dream job
would be to own my own business creating artwork and hand-lettering and sell them in an online
store. What do you like to do outside of work? Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, gardening,
reading, lettering, painting and spending time with my family.

Rogue One
Rogue One was a great movie. The main plot of the movie can be summed
up as a group of rebels team up after they meet and steal the plans to the
death star. The beginning of the movie seems a little dull and starts to build
up a little build until the climax where they get the plans and manage to
transmit it to the Rebel Fleet, where then Darth Vader gets on the ship but
the plans narrowly manage to get transmitted to a safer place to be
analyzed and put to use. The movie is based on how a scientist who used
to work with the Empire realized he was on the “bad” side and then leaves
them and hides. The commanders need him to finish a job building a
weapon that would mean a guaranteed win to the war so they hunt him
down, kill his wife, and take him. The scientist also had a daughter who hid
from the commanders and years later she was part of the rebel group who
stole plans from the Empire and sent it to the Rebel Fleet. This film also
brought back a general from the previous Star Wars movies named general
Tarkin. He had died in real life and was not mentioned anymore. For this
production, they used a different actor who looked like him and used
makeup to make him look like the older General Tarkin.

Strange But True-Games
1. Sonic The Hedgehog used to be a chromosome 7 until it was removed for being
“comedy”.
2. Matt Damon refused to appear in the recent Bourne Conspiracy game because
he thought it was too violent.
3. In Resident Evil 4,Leon's cool leather jacket inexplicably disappears after the
scene in the village. Well, on the PS2 version, go through Ada's side-quest and
one of the Ganado villagers will be wearing it.
4. In the early stages of its development, Half-Life 2 featured a friendly alien that
would follow Gordon Freeman around, feasting on the bodies of his fallen
enemies. It was taken out when Valve discovered that the AI would be too
difficult to convincingly program.
5. In 1986, Nintendo released a special Disk System peripheral for the NES in
Japan. Among its features was a microphone in the controller, which certain
games used, including an updated version of the original Zelda. You could only
destroy a certain enemy by shouting into the mic.
6. The famously awful E.T. game for the Atari 2600 actually sold more than its most
famous game, Space Invaders. E.T. sold 1.5 million, while Invaders only shifted a
million.
7. A boss character called Binbag was removed from Rockstar's Manhunt early in
its development. He was a psychopath.

Everything's Better with Coke
I'm still living the life where you get home and open the fridge and there's half a
pot of yogurt and a half a can of flat Coca-Cola. (Alan Rickman) Coke is the best drink
you can have with any food in on the face of this earth because it tastes so good with
anything you eat it with. In the quote at the top of this article, Alan says that life used to
be where you would go home and drink flat Coke and yogurt and feel good and i'm sure
a lot of people would agree with that because Coke makes everyone feel better about
themselves, even when you are sad or mad. Coke at restaurants usually cost around $1
When you buy a medium Coke, At the store, a six pack of happiness costs about $4
and let me tell you, it is worth it! You will feel six times more happier than you did before
you bought the Coke. When you buy Coke this weekend you have a chance to get a
free movie ticket that will expire in 1 day so there is no point in buying this but it sounds
like a good deal so you should buy it. Alan says that you haven’t lived until you have
drank coke. One can of coke can make your day and will improve your mood drastically.
If you drink coke, you will feel so much better and feel like you can conquer the world!
This will make you appealing to the ladies and make you much more desireable!
Confidence generally leads to better results with most things. If you feel confident, you
will go about your day much better and not feel sad! Isn’t that amazing?

What to know for 8th grade

There are a lot of things to know for 8th grade. There is going to be a lot
more homework, there is going to be a ton more projects and not to
mention we have to take a midterm exam for almost every class after the
first semester and we have to take finals at the very end of the year.
Thankfully, the midterm doesn’t count as a grade, but the finals exam does
and is usually worth 10% of your 4th quarter grade. Not to mention we have
lunch the last grade of the day, we get our explo classes after lunch. The
teachers in 8th grade are also not as much tolerant as they are in 7th
grade. Sometimes, 7th-grade teachers won’t count it late of they are in a
good mood but in 8th grade, they will definitely. Due to the amount of extra
work, we will be getting in 8th grade, out body will need much more sleep.
Getting sleep is already hard enough but our bodies will require more sleep
next year so going to bed earlier might be a good option. Or simply waking
up a little later might also work if you get dressed early. It is also very
important to stay respectful and polite in 8th grade. If you do this, the
teachers will put you on the “good kid” list and this is initially what the high
school teachers see when you get to high school.
