SIENA CENTER SERIES

CREATING A CULTURE
OF ENCOUNTER:

Accompaniment, Healing,
and Reconciliation

Join us at the Siena Center this year while theologians, poets, botanists and bestselling authors
invite us to explore this moment filled with both painful and hopeful realities. When Pope
Francis challenged the world to embrace a “culture of encounter,” he shared that through our
communal lived experiences we find God. This encounter includes not only human relationships
but also care for our planet. This year we will engage ancient wisdom and new ways of building
community. Together, we will learn from these challenging times so that we can embody peace,
justice, and transformation amidst a background of hope.

The St. Catherine of Siena Center of Dominican University examines critical issues of
church and society in light of faith and scholarship. The Center calls together a wide community
of faith committed to deepening insight into the role of the Christian in today’s world.
