The Boy Who Comes Back to Life

Early Story
Luke was born in a religious Roman Catholic Family near Waterlooplein, Batavia

in 1936. Every Sunday he went to church to have a mass with his family. Every night,
Luke and his parents always pray the Rosary and Novena to Mary, Mother of God. He is
very active in his Parish church as an altar server. Because of his activeness in the church,
he often forgot about his chores. And many religious activities that he joined to learn new
things. He is very happy to do those things. In his school, he is the most religious student.

Luke was in Hogere burger School or Junior High School in Koningsplain,
Batavia. Hogere burger School was a Catholic school with high principles. Also in his
school, he is very smart and always got a high score on an Exam. He always studied not
for his exams only but in his leisure times too. He also never cheated at an Exam because
his family told him not to. He always got appreciation for his achievements. A year
passed, and he went to the Algemene Middlebare School or Senior High also, in
Koningsplain, Batavia.

Climax
One day, his mom got into a car crash. His mom went into a coma for a long time.

He was stressed out and he didn’t know what to do. He was so stressed out because he
still had to go to school thinking about his mom. He always went to the hospital seeing
his mom after school. It has been like this for a long time until he almost gave up. He was
always depressed everyday with nobody at home. Later on, his studies became worse
than before. He was always thinking about his mom everyday on and on.

In his school, he almost didn’t do his assignments and paid less attention to the
teachers. He also avoided talking to his friends about what happened to his mom. He was
always alone after that because he thought that it was better if he kept it to himself. He
didn’t think that his friends could help him. His homeroom teacher, Mrs. Wanders was
always looking down at him and sad, but everytime she offered her help, Luke didn’t
want to tell her anything and said that everything was okay. Then he smiled. After
hearing that, Mrs. Wanders didn’t know what to do, so she continued to do her jobs.

After a long time, his friends started offering him tobacco and drugs. He started
using them a lot of time until he got addicted. Because of his addiction, he often did
violence things in his school to his friends. He has been using them a lot since. He had
fun using it because he could be calmer and not think about his mom. That’s why he had
always been buying those drugs.

One day, there was a raid by the police because the police heard some rumours
that there were some drug users in the school. He got caught by the police after the raid
because of the drugs that he used and violence so he got arrested. And he went to jail, to
be detained because of his illegal behavior using narcotics. In jail, he started to feel sorry
and wanted to repent because he was seeing the people in jail were suffering with their
lives. He felt that life in prison was very different from his usual life.

Then he always prays in jail. He said that he was very sorry and he wanted to see
his mom again. He asked for God’s help for his mom. He hoped by praying, so his
mother could wake up. He said to God that he would tell his mom everything if she woke
up. He then prayed everyday, before he had always forgotten to pray. He believes that by
praying everyday, God will help him and his mom. But, his mom never woke up when he
was in jail. But, he kept on waiting and believing.

One night, the Virgin Mary appeared to him and said “I am the mother of God.
Don’t be afraid because your prayers have been heard by the Lord. After you’re free from
the jail, please come to your Parish and go confess to repent your sins”. Then he set up
his mind to immediately confess his sins after he was released from jail.

When he was released from jail, his mom was already awaked. The doctor said
his mom was already healthy enough to go home. He was very happy and crying in his
mom's arms. He told his mom everything about what he did. His mom wasn’t angry or
anything, but she was rather concerned with his health. He then told his mom that he was
going to confess his sins in the parish. His mom supported him and accompanied him to
confess his sins. He was very thankful to God and he promised he will always do
anything for God and he will always love and remember God because he knew God loves
him and will always forgive him.

When he arrived at the parish. He felt a little nervous. But he gained courage
again because his mom was with him. He then entered the confession room. He faced the
priest and started to confess his sins. He told the priest all of his sins. From he started to
use drugs and violence. The priest saw that he was seriously regretting his sins. Then God
redeemed his sins by the intercession of the Priest. After that, Luke calmly walked to
leave the confession room. When Luke finished confessing his sins, he was born again as
a new man free from sins in his past. After he confessed his sins, he felt like a better
person than before. And also he realized that God would always be there for him when he
was in trouble. Then the priest saw that Luke had already left the confession room,
smiled and said to himself, “One more boy has already come back to life.”
