INSIDE LOOK: SURF GALLERY HOUSE
A gallery of modern art becomes inspiration for a beach home that’s
anything but typical.
For the owners of the Surf Gallery House on Wrightsville Beach, North
Carolina, their contemporary style was just as important as having all
of the comforts and amenities of beach-front living. They wanted the
exterior to blend well with the surrounding beach community, while at
the same time reflecting their modern aesthetic and need for both solo
and social time. Ideally, their home would be practical for just the two
of them, but would also comfortably fit visiting friends and family.

WHY INTEGRITY?
By Bruce Petersen, Architectural Project Manager,
Wisconsin
Iwas paging through several of our competitor's
catalogs during the Wisconsin AIA show and
realized all the literature was interchangeable. Bright
and clear photos of beautiful buildings anyone
would be proud to own. New buildings, featuring
new windows, all look great, no matter which
window manufacturer.
I decided to go back to an eight-year-old project
"The Overlook at Hilldale" and see if it would be
worthy of a picture in a catalog. The Overlook
at Hilldale built on a hill, where residences see a
beautiful view of the Madison, Wisconsin skyline, and
the Wisconsin state capital. The exterior is exposed
to direct sunlight and temperatures that often
fluctuate 30 degrees in a day.
After eight years in the extreme heat and cold
temperatures of Wisconsin, the large window
assemblies look great. The windows show nominal
color fading, and, slight loss of gloss to the exterior.
The interior finish appears brand new. This project's
window service history has been exceptional.
Most professionals in our industry, architects,
and contractors struggle with understanding the
differences between window manufacturers. The
literature is interchangeable from their viewpoint.
Going through a comparable checklist most
windows have similar NFRC ratings, ENERGY
STAR®, WDMA-Hallmark Certification, comply with
the same ASTM, AAMA/WDMA/CSA, IGMA/
IGCC ratings. The result of this struggle is an
unfounded belief that windows are equal.
Building owners, homeowners, and developers
struggle even more to understand the differences
in windows. They tend to rely on the architect and
contractor to make the window decision for them.
We understand the complexity of window
manufacturing, and though we meet or exceed the
standards, there is another measurement of windows:
life cycle. Integrity surpasses life cycle expectations.
Integrity offers multiple avenues to answer the
question "Why Integrity®". We provide AIA
presentations for architects, written manufactures
comparative information, customer testimonials,
and more. Simple picture comparison of a
newly completed building and picture years
later of the same building shows the actual merit
of Integrity windows.
