Historic Renovation in
New York City

Windows are among the most significant features of a landmark building
which is why it is important to retain the configuration, operation, details,
material and finish of an original window, as well as maintain the size
of the openings, sills, decorative moldings and the sash itself. In most
historic buildings, the window sash, window framing and the architec-
tural detail surrounding the windows were carefully designed as integral
components of the style, scale and character of the building.

That’s why Adler Windows chose Marvin to replace the windows for the
Noho Apartment Building in New York, NY.

Purchased in the early 1800s for $30,000 as a private mansion, the
building was converted into an 11-story commercial building in 1878.
The building is now registered as a New York City Landmark, making
the historic and aesthetic value of the building that much more important
and its original features necessary to maintain.

The Marvin Clad Ultimate Next Generation Double Hung window
was chosen to complete this project because of the traditional beauty
with state-of-the-art window performance it offers. It was a win-win for
the client. With an array of simulated divided lite patterns, interior and
exterior color options, ten hardware finishes, and hundreds of round top
sizes, Adler and Marvin were able to customize the windows to match
those of the original building. The 57 7/8” X 96 7/16” windows provide
the client with maximum light and breathtaking views of Washing-
ton Square Park.
