NKEM BLESSED @ 50 AND THANKSGIVING BROCHURE

Brochure of tributes and goodwill messages for Lady Nkem Mbamelu on her Thanksgiving and 50th Birthday Celebration. To God be the Glory.

PROFILE OF THE CELEBRANT.

It is with a joyous heart that I celebrate the golden anniversary of my birth. Most importantly, to thank
and celebrate God Almighty that has made it possible for me to witness and testify to this day as my life
has being very miraculous.

I was born by awesome parents Mr. & Mrs. Augustine Chukwujekwu a.k.a. AU Jah ( Ugokwesili) &
Ezinnem Ọ ma Mmiriaku. I was born on June 22 at Mother of Christ Hospital, in the Coal City of
Enugu fty wonderful and eventful years ago and counting. My nursery, primary, secondary and
tertiary education were respectively at Foundation Nursery School, New Haven Enugu, Zik Avenue
Primary School, Uwani Enugu, Girls High School Awkwunanaw, St. Cyprian Special Science School
Nsukka and a little stint at Institute of Management and Technology where I studied Computer
Science. These were most glorious and memorable years of my life that I remember often with
nostalgia. I got all the requisite qualications from these institutions listed above.

Without break and at the heels of the above, I got married to Barrister Stanley Mbamelu in 1991.
Thereafter, I moved to the United States of America. Upon arriving in New York, I got admission to
City College of the City University of New York, where I majored in Biochemistry. I was privileged to be
accepted into the prestigious National Institute of Health Minority Access to Research Career
program (NIH-MARC) on full scholarship. Currently a staff of CUNY, I have by dint of hard work,
acquired numerous academic and professional certicates, and awards from the University and from
outside of the CUNY system.

My stay and education in America introduced me to the real world and life. Despite all the individual
and family vicissitudes, I joggled simultaneously child bearing, education, work, domestic chores, wife
and motherhood duties without let and with equanimity. These experiences those days were at times
fullling and joyful and at other times harrowing. Worse of it all, were the health challenges that at
times being comatose I “ransitioned in and out” from the physical to the eternal. Needless to say, that
each of these experiences did leave their scars on me. I was very lucky to have the benets of my
beloved mom and dad my AU Jah (of blessed memory) stepping in to help me and my husband raise
our four sons, which allowed me to complete my college education. I will forever be indebted to them.
Daddy mu, my AU Jah, I know that you are looking down on us with love and celebrating with us. We
love you dearly and we miss you. And to my beloved mother who I still call mommy; mommy mu…you
have been my rock and my refuge when the going becomes tough. You have seen my struggles and my
triumphs and you. Thanks to you and your powerful prayers that has resulted in miracles in my life
and that of my children. Mommy, Ezinnem I may not say this often, but I want you to know that my
children and I love you so much. We pray that God will continue to give you long, healthy, and
prosperous life.

I would not have been here today giving all these testimonies but for the love of God that has woven me
into his fabrics, protected and guided my path right to the present day. My faith that I still practice to
date, has kept me grounded and hopeful. I consider myself more of an extrovert and bubbly you know
what… for those that knows me. Behind my stern appearance and demeanor as observed by some, is a
loving, caring and compassionate being.

Based on lessons learnt so far from my life’ journey, I will advise my fellow women and mothers that
challenges are facts of life, to take them stoically for they are all temporal and equips us for a better life
ahead. I have as I navigate this unpredictable life for the past fty years learnt that the future is all in
the present and that the past can neither be gone back to or changed. Equally, we cannot go to the
future but to live the future that we wish for if possible in its present realities (Ịẹ chi fo ta lu…. That
there is no future but present. The future and the present are the same point in time. As a result, we

11

should not mortgage our present good desires and happiness to the future.
In conclusion, as I reminisce on my life travails, I cannot help but to thank God for his
immeasurable blessings, miracles and privileges that I have been blessed with. To my wonderful
parents, my siblings and of course my beloved all in all sons that gave me the raison d’étre I say
daalu nu, daalu nu rinne. And same to my husband with whom the “biblical injunction journey found
in Genesis 1:28 started.
Many special thanks to all my guests and well-wishers that found the time to make this day not only
joyful but memorable for me. As you depart to your respective destinations, I hope and pray that
you get home to your families safe, merrier and in a better spirit than when you left your home.
TO YOU ALL AND TO GOD ALMIGHTY I REMAIN ETERNALLY THANKFUL.

OUR DEAR AND BELOVED MOTHER, CONFIDANT & OUR ROCK

Mother, we would love to say thank you, but a thankyou will never be enough for the
sacrifices you have made for us. Since birth, you provided for us and protected us.
Moreover, you made sure we had toys and goodies thecool American kids had. Without
you, our youth would never have been the same.

How can one ever forget the lengths you went to ensure we experienced a land we le
as kids? How can we forgetMother, we would love tosay thank you, but a thank you will
never be enough for the sacrifices you have made for us. Since birth, you provided for us
and protected us. Moreover, you made sure we had toys and goodies the cool American
kids had. Without you, our youth would never have been the same.

How can one ever forget the lengths you went to ensure we experienced a land we le as kids?
How can we forget the extents you went with your new york apples? Wrapping them up in
newspapers while traveling thousands of miles to reach us, insis ng you wanted us to taste a
country we could not remember as infants. How theseapples stayed intact, we would never know.
However, one thing is for sure, it speaks to the resiliency and will of a mother. You made sure that
your children were never le behind.

The strength of a mother is never to be underrated. For ages, as boys, we never knew the extent of
what you had to go through—working and looking out for your family and us as a young adult while
also finishing school. You ensured you shielded usfrom the challenges of being a parent un l we
were old enough to know the struggles of adulthood.

Truthfully we will never fully know the trial and tribula on that you navigated. In sickness and
health, you performed the role of a mother with aplomb, telling us things we needed to know about
your health only when we were ready to learn. How can we forget the night you called us together
to tell us the medical troubles you had been through, the risks, and the poten al outcome for the
future? You were terrified but stood strong. You ddi n't fully know the future, but you stayed calm.
You knew we would not fully understand, yet you made us understand by telling it as a light-hearted
story. The truth is that we all know what a great mother you have been. Not only to us but to all you
have crossed paths with.

Anywhere we go, we hear a tes mony of your goodness. Not an hour passes by in the City College
science building do we not hear students cha ng to their friends about how you have helped solve
their problems. You are a great mother to us, but more importantly, you are a great mother to
anyone who sought you out. You are a mother to anyworld you occupy.

They say the love of a mother is indescribable. S ll, we know the love of a mother is a miracle, the
love of a mother heals, the love of a mother protects, and the love of a mother paves the way-all
which your love has done for us. And for that, we say thank you, knowing that a "thank you" would
never be enough. May you live forever in good health.
We love you dearly,

Your sons

great grandchildren in good health. I will continue to pray for you. Nkemdilim,

Aunty Aunty, where do I even start…
I guess first, happy birthday and sorry I’m not there celebrating your special day with you but
I’m celebrating you nonetheless…
What do I love most about you? Maaaaaan I can’t pin point one thing as there’s so many of
them but at the top of the list is also how caring you are. You are probably one of the busiest
people I know with the tightest schedules but you never fail to look out…. making sure I’m set
and on top of classes, right from undergrad to linking me up with my first job (I still owe you a
paycheck ). Let’s not forget the fitness links you send me telling me to apply for things i maybe
interested in. That’s just how well you know me and how much you believe in me. Even the
“little” things that you do, I don’t take for granted, like inviting my foodie self to events you
organize just to come get food and just being there to listen…the list goes on and on
This new year, the big 50, I pray for nothing short of sound health for you, growth, happiness
and love all round you, unlimited blessing and some time off to get that break which you
soooooo deserve lol. All I want you to know is YOU ARE UNMEASURABLE
From Amy A ROYALHIGHNESS!!!

Kemy my sister from another mother!
We have known since the 80’s , lived in the same hostel. We have admired each
other back then and got each other’s back. It’s amazing that 33 years later after
school we are still in touch. We may not talk every day but we are in each other’s
thoughts and prayers. Kemy, that day you visited home and came to see me in the
hospital made me feel so much loved. You have continued to check up on us when
ever you are home. The last time you came in to the country even with your tight
schedule, you found your way to commiserate with my family . Kemy, it’s only a
sister who’s heart is golden can be this loving and caring. All I can offer is my
prayers that God’s Grace abound in your life to sustain you in your vicissitudes of
life .
It’s your fiftieth birthday and it can only be God that have blessed us with the gifts
of you. Happy birthday.

___________________________

The Oguejiofors' family is wishing a hearty congratulations to my PP (personal person) . Your life
is a miracle, a testimony worthy of being celebrated. Being 50 is a privilege and grace from God.
You have inspired me ever since I met you, and that is why you became my personal person.
When I look at you, I see God's handiwork manifesting because I know what you have been
through, and I'm not saying that people don't go through stuff in life because we all do, but it's
not my story to tell, and that's all I can say. I'm happy to have known you and privileged to
celebrate you; your strength is impeccable. Is it in your dedication to your work, church activities,
communities you belong to, or social affairs? Sometimes it is your motivation that goes above
and beyond that pushes people to stand and do the things they already branded impossible to
become possible. People who have identified with you can relate to what I'm saying.
Nkem, you are one true friend who would stand by one's side and give the person the boost and
confidence like no other, both financial, physical, and otherwise. You are kind, loving, and most
of all, God-fearing. You are fearless, a great adventurer. I remember when AFNB decided on a
wellness program during the Covid-19 pandemic. I remember your strength and energy pulled
many people to the program because those who knew you were like, if Nkem could do this every
day relentlessly, then I should enroll as a life member. Shot This is some of the reasons you will
remain my quintessential personal person, and I'm glad that I'm celebrating this milestone with
you. Thank you for always being there for me.
Congratulations on this milestone and many more years to come. I know you plan to celebrate
but most importantly, to thank God for your life. My family prayer for you is you will live to see
your boys get married; you will enjoy your daughter's-in-law, and they, in turn, will bless you with
grandchildren and your mom with great-grandchildren. I know she is very proud of you. We all
are. Happy quinquagenarian birthday, my pp.

Congratulations on Your Birthday Celebration!

This is to wish you, Nkem, a very Happy Birthday from Fab & Oby Eyisi and family.
I met Nkem for the first time in her office almost twenty years ago. I was smitten by her
professionalism and humility. Her candor and politeness were unprecedented. She
made a remarkable impression on me. I thought within me that it would be
unconscionable if I failed to know more about her. I saw from the name plate on her
table which read, “Nkem Stanley Mbamelu” that she was Igbo. I therefore made bold to
ask what part of the Igboland she was from. She immediately obliged me with details of
her origin. I was astounded and happy to learn she is not only from my state but married
to a person I know very well.

I was superfluously elated considering my mission to her office was to ask how my kid
was faring having been newly admitted to City University of New York. I was hoping to
find a guardian for my daughter in the campus. It became obvious to me that my
mission was partially accomplished. From that first meeting to date we forged a family
relationship that has remained ever close. She willingly accepted to look after my
daughter, assist and monitor her as she overcame the cultural shock of coming to school
in America from Nigeria. Since then, we have evolved into a cordial family relationship.

Nkem facilitated my decision to send my other children to CUNY. She was always there
for my kids as they journeyed through college. She mentored, advised, supported and
cared for them while ensuring they remained focused on achieving their academic goals.
We are happy to celebrate with you on this milestone in your life. You deserve to pop
the bottles because at the age of fifty your achievements speak volume of your
personality.

On behalf of my wife and children, we are wishing you a successful celebration and a
very happy birthday. Our prayer is that God will continue to bless you, your kids and
your extended family. May your days be long and may favor follow you all the days of
your life.

Signed

Fabian Eyisi
