Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica offers high quality education in the field of humanities
and social sciences.
The university creates opportunities for connecting both study and practice through innovative
mentoring, volunteering, informal education and community work. The university is the leader in
Central Europe in developing the worldwide recognized service-learning educational strategy and
the first university in the Slovak Republic whose study programmes are a part of the international
CFA Institute University Recognition Programme.
A Globsec Academy Centre, an incubator for young leaders, supported by the globally recognized
think-tank of the same name, operates here as well as the Talent and Research Centre.
MBU is successful in research projects within the Framework of EU Programmes (FP5-FP7,
H2020), especially in the fields of socio-economic and human sciences. Our goal is to be the
best Slovak university in the international scientific cooperation in these scientific fields.
Studies at MBU are guaranteed by specialists and professionals; this is positively appreciated by
both students and employers alike. MBU is the 4th most successful in the Erasmus+ Programme;
approximately 450 foreign mobilities are carried out every year. The university also has successful
cooperation with universities in Francophone countries. For selected study programmes it is
possible to obtain a diploma from a foreign university in addition to a Slovak one.
Many MBU students participate in art or sports. Several Olympic champions and their trainers
are graduates or teachers from MBU.

Graduate is able to use knowledge from economics, law, quantitative methods, management
and marketing, business economics, finance and accounting. Graduates are skilled in professional
business communication in foreign language and gain skills in informatics. Gained knowledge
is being deepened by business planning, production management, international trade, financial
analysis and entrepreneurship in small and medium sized enterprises. Graduate posses the
knowledge in economic cosequences and managerial aspects of business operations.

enterprise in the current economic practice. and ways of determining the value of the company.

Can apply mathematical and statistical methods in the formation of economic-mathematical
models and the analysis of economic processes in the enterprise.

The aim of the study is to prepare a graduate for a career with excellent knowledge
of current issues and issues of world, European and domestic politics. An important area
for graduates of this program is the work experience in diplomatic services - at the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, embassies, consulates, institutions and bodies of the European Union, on
the premises of international organizations and integration groups such as the United Nations,
NATO, OECD, OSCE, etc. political parties, foundations, non-governmental organizations in the
international and domestic spheres, the media and multinational business companies.

The aim of the study is to prepare a graduate for professional experience in various areas
of political and social life. The graduate is able to analyse both domestic and foreign political events,
to draw prognoses and conclusions. He is able to present his knowledge in a publication form as well

Graduate is able to predict the development of basic political trends and present his own expert

Security studies / 专业名称：安全研究
(Master’s degree program) /（硕士）

The aim of the study is to prepare the graduate to clarify the understanding of the security
enviroment of the current world, theoretical-methodological origins, exploration and study of
new theories and approaches to security, NATO and EU security policy. In gaining new knowledge,
students have the opportunity to use collaboration with practitioners, the Crisis Management
Centre and the simulation centre set up at the faculty to gain practical skills in the management
and modelling of security threats. The program reflects an increasingly important dimension of
international relations with security specialization.

The graduate becomes an expert in security studies, is able to use theoretical knowledge
as well as practical skills in Slovak and foreign academic institutions and in organizations
dealing with security at local, regional, national and global level. Graduates of the program
are capable of performing the following professions: a Foreign Service employee, as well
as a state administration (Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces, etc.), as well as in political parties and
interest groups and in the third sector.
