A Stayed Mind

Isaiah 26:3, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is
stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” The 26th chapter of Isaiah is a
beautiful song of praise to God for the safety and well being of His people. In
this verse we have a promise of perfect peace for those whose minds are
stayed (set/fixed) on God (Phil. 4:6-7). There is never an hour of temptation
or darkness that our God cannot deliver us from if we will trust Him to do so
(Ps. 62:8; Isa. 12:2-3; Heb. 4:14-16; I Cor. 10:13). God knows how to de-
liver us even when we can see no way out and when we think that all is lost
(Isa. 59:1; I Cor. 10:13; Eph. 3:20). It is imperative that we understand the
promise of perfect peace. The promise of deliverance is predicated on the
love we have for God (Mk. 12:30) and the level of trust we are willing to
commit to Him (Prov. 3:5; Ps. 25:20; Ps. 62:8). The question now becomes:
What is the evidence of a mind that is stayed on God? There are a number
of answers, here are just a few:

1. A seeking mind (Ps. 34:10; Prov. 8:17; Heb. 11:6, 14; Col. 3:1)

2. A sacrificial mind (Rom. 12:1; I Pet. 2:5; Phil. 4:3-4)

3. An involved mind (Mt. 5:16; 1 Cor. 15:58; Jas. 1:25)

4. A submissive mind (Deut. 11:26-27; 1 Sam. 12:14-15; 2 Cor. 10:3-6)

Let’s ask ourselves: Is my mind stayed on God? The answer we give is a key
to our well being on this side of eternity and also a key to our eternal safety
once we shed these earthly bonds.
