WELCOME TO ST. THERESA’S 2016 ANNUAL AUCTION

“SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER”

Dear Families and Friends of St. Theresa School.

Each year, the Annual Auction Committee meets to brainstorm ideas,
discuss fundraising goals and plan the next year’s event. Every year, we
come together as a community to support the fundraising needs of our
school. Last year was a huge success and the monies raised went towards
our Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fund. Affording
our children the ability to use innovative techniques to improve student
performance. This is a testament to your dedication to our school and
your children. It speaks volumes of the generous nature of the families of
St. Theresa School. Although we have accomplished much, funds are still
needed. This year, the Auction Committee pledged to raise money for the
Music and Arts departments.

As Committee Chairs, it is too difficult to even begin to thank all those indi-
viduals that helped with such a huge endeavor. We thank you for your time
commitment, monetary support, experience, sacrificing family time and so
much more. We want to personally thank the Parish, Administration, Faculty,
Families and our Sponsors. We are so very grateful and we know there
is no way can amply show our appreciation to everyone. We are so very
blessed! THANK YOU!

We would like to personally thank Alison de Vazeille. She stepped up and
went above and beyond what she initially volunteered for. She became
part of our team and we were truly fortunate! We never could have done it
without her. Alison de Vazeille – THANK YOU!

This evening promises to be an exciting celebration of our past success
and our future goals. We strive to make certain you have an enjoyable
time. Browse our auction items, take a chance on the exciting raffles and
dance the night away! There is something for everyone during “Saturday
Night Fever”.

May we be blessed with a fabulous night enjoying delicious food, good
conversation and successful fundraising.

Thank you in advance for your generous support.

God Bless,
Gina Dechant and Karen Brown

LETTER FROM OUR PTO PRESIDENT

DEAR FRIENDS OF SAINT THERESA CATHOLIC SCHOOL,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to this year’s “Saturday Night
Fever” Auction and Gala. It feels fitting to have the auction return to our
school where the magic happens every day for our children. As we
support our school tonight, we are reminded of our strength and
devotion to our children’s Catholic education.

The PTO Board would like to extend our gratitude to Father Guest, Father
Cavanaugh, Father Hinkle, Mrs. Krichbaum, all the teachers and staff. Your
support has been a tremendous encouragement to us. Your commitment to
our children is appreciated by all. A truly amazing and talented group
of individuals.

We are truly blessed with the never ending energy and commitment of
Mrs. Karen Brown and Mrs. Gina Dechant for co-chairing this year’s auction.
They have put in many hours of hard dedicated work to bring us tonight’s
event. The committee chairs and all those who volunteered their time are
commended for their outstanding work.

Many local businesses have supported our efforts by sponsoring this event
in numerous fashions. They have helped keep our costs down while still
allowing us to put on a spectacular event. A heart felt thank you to all
our sponsors.

The proceeds from this evening’s festivities will go directly toward the
educational enrichment of our students. This year we have set our focus
on expansion of the Arts program at St. Theresa. A new sound system to
enrich our experience with our many talented students is one of our main
desires. It’s through your support that we can continue making St. Theresa
Catholic School a better learning environment for our children.

Thank you for your support of our school and children. I hope you enjoy
yourself, have loads of fun and have an increased sense of pride and
belonging to St. Theresa Catholic School.

Blessings ahead,

Tom Willis
PTO President

LETTER FROM FATHER GUEST

DEAR FRIENDS:

Welcome to this year’s auction! I am so glad that you have come out to
join us for this annual PTO fundraiser for our school. I look forward to the
auction each year as it provides us with a wonderful opportunity to gather
together as a community to celebrate Catholic education and to raise much
needed money to fund the expenses of keeping our school “up-to-date.”
This is my 14th auction at Saint Theresa – and I have to imagine I’m one
of the few here who actually remember the seventies!

Saint Theresa School is currently in its twenty-second year of providing
quality Catholic education to children in Loudoun County. The school looks
a lot different than it did when it first opened its doors: we’ve grown a great
deal since the Fall of 1994! We’ve doubled in size, added a cafeteria and
playground, changed from a “part-time” to “full-time” gym, and most recent-
ly added an elementary science lab and resource suite. We are blessed to
have had such fantastic PTO boards who have worked so closely with the
administration of our parish school throughout the years in ensuring that
we have been able to keep up with the times in terms of technology and
other educational advances.

Saint Theresa School is proud of her tradition of raising Catholic leaders
for the future. After all, we are, before anything else, Catholic. Our Catholic
identity is most important to us. We are not a private school, but a
Catholic school. Therefore, Jesus Christ is seen as the ever-present
teacher in every classroom. We look to him to guide us in all things.

I thank you for being a part of this year’s auction. In a special way I want
to offer my thanks and congratulations to this year’s auction chairs, Gina
Dechant and Karen Brown, our PTO board, the many, many volunteers
who have given so freely of their time and talents to insure the success
of this year’s event – and you, for being here! An event like this is truly a
community effort.

Please enjoy yourselves tonight – and spend lots of money! After all, it’s
for a good cause – promoting “the Arts” here at Saint Theresa School! May
God bless you!

Sincerely in Christ,

Reverend Richard M. Guest 7
Pastor

LETTER FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

Dear St. Theresa School Family and Friends,

How exciting it is to see the auction return to school this year! When the
auction is held on site, there is always great anticipation to see a gym and
cafeteria magically transformed into another place and time.

The seventies………perhaps you were a child then, or maybe just a sparkle
in your father’s eye-but I was starting my teaching career! As a first grade
teacher, I taught my students their alphabet, then sounds of the letters, and
then we put the sounds together into single syllable words……which are all
done in kindergarten in 2016! The classroom of the 70’s looked just like
the classroom of the 2000’s, but in the past 10 years, technology has erupt-
ed! Our classes now resemble the Jetsons more than the Flintstones, and
we have past auctions to thank!

Auctions have provided Promethean boards in every classroom, state of
the art science labs for every child to use every week, iPads used by every
child in grades kindergarten through five, brand new computer labs, Lego
robots, a new coding program, and so much more! Without the generos-
ity of our kind donors and auction goers, we would have nothing! Thank
you for all the fantastic field trips our children have taken, all the fun times
during Catholic Schools Weeks, all the Donuts with Dads, Buddy Picnics,
Buddy Bingos, all of the playground equipment and the track the children
use every day- all sponsored by your PTO and funded by the annual auc-
tion.

This year, the PTO has decided to focus on the Arts, and the proceeds
from tonight’s auction will bring us a state of the art sound system, special
equipment to be used by students in the art room, and hopefully costumes
and play scripts so that the Middle School will enrich its curriculum with
Shakespearean productions. We have turned our energies to STEM, but
this year, we will add the Arts as a focus and be a STEAM school!

Thank you to our Auction Chairs, Gina Dechant and Karen Brown, who
have worked tirelessly to bring this event to fruition, and all of the volun-
teers and donors who have given their time, talents, and treasure so that
our children’s school experience will be enriched! A special shout out to
the teachers- each one has donated an activity either in a group or alone
to this year’s auction!

8

There are timeless things that we would never want to change- prayer
throughout our day, weekly mass, rosaries and Stations of the Cross, our
children feeding and clothing those less fortunate, all the Catholic values
that make St. Theresa what it always was and always will be; but thank you
for those other, less important things, which bring our children into the 21st
century with current technologies and materials. They are not the most im-
portant things, but they make learning far more individualized, challenging,
and fun, and for that, I am grateful!
Thank you again for your generosity!
Blessings,
Carol Krichbaum, principal

CLASS BASKET & PROJECT COORDINATORS

Thank you to all our Class Basket and Project Coordinators who spent
countless hours preparing unique and exciting items for tonight’s auction.
Your time and patience working with the kids is greatly appreciated and
your creative talent is a tremendous asset to both the St. Theresa School
and tonight’s auction. We also want to thank all of the St. Theresa families
whose donations made the baskets and projects possible.

Last but not least, thank you to Alison de Vazeille, Tara Masterson and
Kerry Quinlan. We are not even able to express to you our gratitude for
all you did to make this a success!! You went above and beyond and we
thank you from the bottoms of our hearts!
