Teen Village: The place to go

Would you enjoy staying in a beautiful place with lots of exciting
things to do? If so, Teen Village in southern Spain is the perfect holiday
destination for you. The ancient land is home to amazing people, incredible
landscapes, unrivalled gastronomy and some of the prettiest little towns
you’ll find in Spain. Additionally, the village is familiar with the recent influxes
of tourism; however, some still remain secluded from the outside world,
bursting with tradition and charm! One thing they all have in common? The
typical architecture of Teen village that I love.

Situated next to a lovely sandy beach, the accommodation is a
circle of comfortable wooden bungalows. In the centre, there is a campfire
area where meals are grilled every evening. When I was there, most of the
teenagers relaxed around the fire until late as well as chatting and playing
guitars.

On top of that, the evening meals are simple; mainly meat or
delicious fish, served with a wide variety of salads. On the other hand, they
also have a café that serves huge breakfasts and other snacks to keep you
going all day.

During my stay, most people chose from a daily programme of
extreme sports lessons such as hang-gliding and sand sailing. We spent a
wonderful morning scuba diving around an old shipwreck in the bay.

All in all, I would recommend this place to everyone especially if
you are looking to a unique and special experience that is truly once in a
lifetime. Go and experience it yourself. Every teen should not miss the
change to stay at Teen Village.

Writing Tips

When writing a film review:
 Choose a film you know well and make a plan of what you are going
to write (pilih filem yg pernah ditonton & rancang penulisan)
 Remember to use the Present Simple to describe the plot. Don’t
include too many details and don’t reveal the ending (jgn spoil
ending)
 Use a variety of adjectives to make it more interesting
 Use the Simple Present or the Past Simple to make comments and
give your opinion

Sample Review:
Have you watched Ola Bola? Ola Bola is a Malaysian film

directed by Chiu Keng Guan. It is a sports film which starts JC Chee as
Chow Kwok Keong, the captain of the national football team of Malaysia in
1980 and Bront Palarae as Rahman, a would be sports commentator and
friend of Chow’s.

The film is set in 1980, and it is inspired by the true story of how
Malaysia’s national football team made it to the 1980 Olympics. It narrates
the stories of the players who had to overcome obstacles and personal
issues on their way to success. Its highlight is the match between Malaysia
and South Korea in which Malaysia wins and qualifies for the 1980
Olympics.

A special feature of the film is the careful attention that was
given to details in order to make the 80s setting look authentic and to help
develop the characters’ stories. But most importantly, it is a film which
teaches us to never give up. It shows how important it is to put differences
aside and work together to achieve a common goal.

I found this film very entertaining. I think it should be seen not
only by all sports lovers but also by anyone looking for an inspirational
story.

Changes In Our School Canteen

Introduction (22 words)

Our school canteen needs some changes. There are many ways
we can make these changes. These changes can improve our school canteen.

Point 1 + details (56 words)

One way is, change the current menu to a new one. I would like to
suggest that we introduce a new nutritious and healthy menu. The menu should
be able to cater the vegetarian and non-vegetarian students. It must be
affordable and taste good. Furthermore, counters selling healthy snacks, fruits
and fruit juice should be added.

Point 2 + details (43 words)

Other than that, I suggest some special facilities be added to the
canteen. For example, water dispensers for students to refill their bottles during
the day. Moreover, the canteen should provide enough space for students who
are in wheelchairs to move around easily.

Point 3 + details (59 words)

Lastly, we can improve our canteen by keeping the service area
clean and tidy. Plus, keep the whole canteen area and furniture around it clean
and tidy. In addition, students can use a coupon system to buy their food rather
than using cash. Finally, we can ask students to help decorate the canteen with
art works, posters and signs.

Conclusion (27 words)

In conclusion, the school canteen plays a vital role in promoting
healthy food and healthy eating habits among students. Students also can
develop social and companionship skills.

conversation

- To make students discover the fun of learning English

Activities during the week

- An online spelling bee competition
(students appeared live on screen)

(students and teachers dressed up in different movie characters and met

Sample Report:
Virtual English Week

A Virtual English Week was organized by the English Language
Society of SMK Batu Maung for the benefits of all students in the school. The
event took place virtually due to outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. To
maintain our physical distancing, the committee members decided to conduct
all the activities via online. It was held for one week from the 1st of April until
7th of April 2021.

The main objective of this annual event was to develop students’
confidence to use English language in daily conversation. This programme is
also aimed to make students discover the fun of learning English. The English
Language Society organized plenty of virtual simulated activities for all
students to participate.

Among the activities held was the online Spelling Bee competition
which was opened to lower secondary students. It was held via live stream can
be viewed by all the students of the school. Besides, it was such a great
surprise that many students were enthralled with the home video contest. Most
contestants produced captivating videos about their pastime interests which
attracted the judges’ attention.

The costume party was the most fun and popular activities held
during the English Language Week. Students and teachers dressed up in
different movie characters and got together in Zoom calls sharing about the
attires they wore. The organizer also provided students with opportunity to
show their creativity by making scrapbooks. However, this competition was the
least favourite among all apart from essay writing competition.

All in all, The English Language Week had been a great success.
Most of the students had shown positive responses towards this first virtual
event in SMK Batu Maung. I would like to suggest we organize more fun and
interactive activities that cater to all students. Moreover, the duration of the
event could be extended to encourage more participation.
