1.Preterm week celebration of NNF Ernakulam
began with Advanced NRP provider course
conducted in Renai Medcity on 17/11/2019 in
association with IAP Kochi and NNF Ernakulam.
The instructors for the NRP were Dr. Manoj VC,
Dr .Vishnu Mohan, Dr . Mrinal, Dr .Shabeer ,Dr
Krishnadathan, Dr. Dhanya. The Programme
was inaugurated by the Medical Director of
Renai Medcity Dr Krishnanunni .

Since the theme for 2019 World Prematurity
Day (November 17) was “Born Too Soon:
Providing the right care, at the right time, in the
right place”, it was the perfect thing to be done
on World Prematurity Day this year. It was a
visual treat to see the purple theme colour of
World Prematurity Day during the event.40
delegates were trained in Neonatal
Resuscitation. The program was an excellent
learning experience and was well received by
the instructors and delegates alike.





2.The Ernakulam Medical Centre (EMC)
conducted prematurity day celebrations on
18/11/19.
Dr TV Ravi ,Medical Director and Chief
Pediatrician gave the welcome speech and
Dr .Shimmy Paulose ,NNF Ernakulam President
inaugurated the meeting . Dr . Mohammed
Ismail ,President IAP Kochi gave the Presidential
Address.

There was a session on Care of preterm babies
by Dr. Anu Asokan Consultant Neonatologist and
Pediatrician Ernakulam Medical Centre.
Dr M Narayanan, President elect IAP Kerala ,
Dr Grace Thomas ,Consultant Neonatologist &
Pediatrician EMC, Dr.Sheela C Babu, Consultant
OBG EMC felicitated the function.
The programme also included poster
competition to highlight the importance of
preterm care for the nurses and interactive
session with the families of preterm babies .It
was a well organized function with good
appreciation .





3. The Little Flower Hospital Angamaly
conducted a CME in accordance with preterm
week celebrations on 19/11/19.

The programme comprised of a session on
“Critical Heart Disease in Newborn” by Dr.
Edwin Francis who is a Consultant Pediatric
Cardiologist of Lisie Hospital Kochi and
“Interesting Cases from NICU ” by Dr. Soly
Manuel ,Consultant Neonatologist Little Flower
Hospital Angamaly

4. The Aster Medcity Kochi celebrated

prematurity week on 20/11/19.


It was a grand function and Actress Remya
Nambeesan was the Chief Guest of the day

and she distributed gifts for the babies.
Nearly 15 ex premies attended the function


This was associated with interactive

session with parents by Dr Jose Paul and Dr
George Jose ,Consultant Neonatologist Aster

Medicty .

There was a parent education programme

with video demonstration of the care of the
preterms post discharge and in post natal

ward . Awareness was also created about
the danger signs and follow up of these high

risk babies ..





5.The Little Flower Hospital Angamaly
conducted a get together of preterm babies ;
“Rareeram”on 21/11/19 . Rareeram,' was get
together of nicu graduates of last 4 years.
Around 75 attended, Developmental and
nutritional assesment, class on parenting by
psychologist Dr.Tony Ambadan entertainment
programs, 'How to follow up these babies ' by
Dr. Soly Manuel, Consultant Neonatologist Little
Flower Hospital Angamaly

Meeting was inaugurated by Rev, Fr. Sebastian
Kalappurackal, Director, LF Hospital.
Dr, Cherian Joseph, HOD pediatrics, Dr
Elizabeth Jacob, HOD, OBG felicitated the
function
It was a visual treat to see the little ones in
beautiful attire.





6.The Lourdes Hospital Kochi conducted the
preterm week celebration on 28/11/19 by
conducting Parent Education CME ; “Premie
Gala 2019”. The programme was inaugurated by
the State IAP President Dr. Narayanan M.
Director of Lourdes hospital Rev Father Shiju
Thoppil gave the Presidential Address and Key
note address was given by Dr .Shimmy Paulose
,NNF Ernakulam President. The programme was
attended by 31 ex premies of the hospital

The session also had an assessment of growth
and development of these babies and gifts were
distributed to the little ones .





7. The Lisie hospital pediatric department
organised a scientific session as part of world
prematurity day to spread awareness about
premature babies on 29/11/19.

Dr Tonny Mampilly, HOD Pediatrics welcomed
the gathering. Dr Anna Simon gave a talk on the
risk factors associated with preterm babies.

About 15 doctors from pediatric and gynecology
department and 10 nursing staff from
pediatrics, nicu and labour room attended the
talk.
