EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

MTA Africa 1 and MTA Africa 2 channels were inaugurated by Hazrat Khalifatul
Masih V (May Allah be his helper) on the 1st of August 2016 to cover the African
continent.

MTA Africa produces tailor made content for the African audience and through
it's regional studios produces programmes in a number of languages. Since the
launch of MTA Africa in 2016, it has continued to develop partnerships with
national and private broadcasters across Africa. These partnerships offer content
sharing opportunities and have been invaluable in strengthening MTA Africa's
viewership. MTA Africa continues to provide structured training courses to the
staff of Ghana, Uganda, Sierra Leone and Gambia National Television. To date it
has helped in improving the skill set of hundreds of staff in all areas of
broadcasting. New partnerships have also been formed with educational
institutions such as the GIJ (Ghana Institute of Journalism), whose students have
obtained work experience placement in our Ghana studios.

This year under the blessed guidance of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (May Allah be
his helper), MTA Africa has developed a comprehensive programming plan to
ensure that a larger percentage of content focuses on propagating the teachings
of Islam Ahmadiyyat to an external audience. MTA Africa this year has produced
programmes across multiple genres including current affairs, children’s
programmes, health, education, faith based, social and cultural content. In total
MTA Africa has produced over 30 independent series of programmes.

MTA Africa manages a total of 11 studios and bureaus with a total workforce of 65
fulltime staff and over 120 volunteers. A total of 7 languages are also catered for
across both channels; namely English, French, Swahili, Hausa, Yoruba, Twi and
English Kriol.

On behalf of the entire MTA Africa team, we would like to humbly thank Hazrat
Khalifatul Masih V (May Allah be his helper) for his prayers and continuous
guidance throughout the year and from the inception of the department. May
Allah enable us to work according to the expectations and guidance of Hazrat
Khalifatul Masih V (May Allah be his helper).

CENTRARLEDPEOPRATRTMENT

In 2019, the department worked on a number of key projects in collaboration
with the local studios. A large focus was dedicated to strengthening our central
administrative setup. This included reviewing our workflows to enable better
reporting between the co-ordinators and central team. A new reporting structure
was setup to collect more accurate data for the monthly reports and a central
email account was introduced for the admin department.
Under the instruction of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (May Allah be his helper),
outreach efforts were made to increase MTA Africa's awareness within the African
broadcasting industry. As a result approval was given for MTA Africa to join the
African Union of Broadcasters (AUB) to ensure that we were able to have
representation on matters of broadcasting policy and guidelines in the continent.
The central department consists of 4 key sections which oversee the operation of
two channels, external studios, external channels and new studio projects. The
department heads communicate directly with external studios for programming,
admin and special projects. Country managers have also played a key role in
streamlining the communication between studios and overseeing monthly
projects.
During 2019 the admin department worked on the digitising and cataloging of all
instructions and approvals from Hazoor-e-Anwar which can now be searched
through keywords. Official MTA email addresses were allocated to the larger
studios for all staff to comply with the central instructions for communication.
Under the guidance of Hazoor-e-Anwar, contacts were established with new
media organisations and journalists to introduce them to MTA International. This
year a journalist from Kenya National Television visited the UK to interview
Hazoor-e-Anwar.
Efforts were also made this year to work with channels in Liberia, Zimbabwe and
Burundi where the message had not reached through the media.
The media team worked very hard to prepare the listings for both channels and
ensure schedules were submitted 3 months in advance. All programmes were
approved by the local teams with checking reports mainly compiled by the
Jamia International Ghana team. These reports are now attached to each
programme and digitised to ensure a full record of all programmes is maintained.

Overall the department has made good progress in 2019, however a lot of work
remains in improving output from studios and delivery of programme targets.

EXTERNAL PARTNERSHIPS

INTRODUCTION

MTA Africa has established links with several state owned and private channels
across Africa. These partnerships involve content sharing and training
agreements through formal contract agreement. MTA Africa's first partnership
was with GBC (Ghana Broadcasting Corporation) and since then has expanded to
both West and East African channels. By the grace of Allah, MTA Africa has
agreements with 8 Television channels across Africa through 4 national
broadcasters and 4 private broadcasters.

In 2019 MTA Africa has facilitated 1 training session for Ghana Broadcasting
Corporation. The total target of 6 training courses was not met and this is
something which the department will focus on in the year 2020.

By collaborating and training with the national broadcasters, MTA Africa has
been able to raise its own profile in the media industry in Africa. Programmes
continue to play in 2019 through our weekly slots. A new partnership agreement
was signed between Gambia National Television this year giving us 3 slots a week.

Our partnerships for 2019 are as follows:

1) Ghana state Television (GBC)
2) Sierra Leone state Television (SLBC)
3) FTN Sierra Leone - Private National channel
4) BBS Uganda - Private National channel
5) Uganda state Television (UBC)
6) Gambia state television (GRTS)

VIEWER FEEDBACK

MTA Africa receives calls on a weekly basis through  the various  programmes
broadcast on external channels. Each country has a dedicated team assigned to
answer calls during the broadcast and pass them onto a local team of
missionaries. Calls are received from all regions across the respective countries.
Each question is then passed onto a team of missionaries who call the viewers
and respond to their questions. A weekly report is submitted to the local Jama'ats
for a follow up. Alhamdolillah, through these programmes, the Jama'ats are
receiving hundreds of Ba'aits each year.
A breakdown of the number of calls received per country is as follows:

PAGE 10

VIEWER COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS

It is not possible to list the hundreds of comments and questions received during
the year. A small selection of questions and comments are listed below:

COMMENTS:

"You Ahmadis are doing very well, especially how you sacrifice. Lets pray that all the
Muslims try to sacrifice like that so that we all can take part in doing da’wa "

"I like watching the program because of the honesty with which Islamic issues are
discussed. In fact if all Muslims heard your message then very soon Islam would
become an envy to its enemies"

"We are learning a lot from these programmes. May Allah richly reward your
panelists."

"I liked the program so much because it linked science with religion and many people
think the two are totally different I don’t agree with such people. Thank you for
highlighting this."

"I love the style of presenting your arguments. They are really convincing."

QUESTIONS:

I want to know if in the Quran the garden of Eden and the fall of man is
mentioned?

Can you tell why Ahmadis say Promised Messiah is the same as Jesus?

Why do Muslims burry their corpse with his head to the north?

What is the difference between the Islamic and Christian belief about the creation
of man?

Why is it allowed for a man to have more than one wife in Islam?

JALSA SALANA UK

Jalsa Salana UK is MTA Africa’s flagship event throughout the year. It requires a
huge amount of planning and coordination in order to prepare a 10 hour daily
schedule for the three days of Jalsa. To help the central team with producing new
content, each MTA Africa bureau is given targets of documentaries, fillers, Jalsa
messages among others, which are delivered a month prior to Jalsa.   While the
central team awaits the content, the central team works out all the logistics for
the Jalsa Salana broadcast. This includes, writing scripts, preparing all presenters,
finding the right guests, inviting journalists to cover the Jalsa. In order to make it
easier for people to follow the full Jalsa broadcast across Africa, for the first time
this year’s Jalsa Salana broadcast was translated into Twi, Yoruba, Hausa. The

Swahili and French.  Also this year, mission houses across Africa had members
