North Atlantic Region Soror Sponsorship 2023 - 2024 Sisterly Serving You F.I.R.S.T., October 23, 2023 Hello Notable North Atlantic Sorors, Thank you to the Sorors who supported the efforts of the F.I.R.S.T. administration’s 92 North Atlantic Regional Conference (NARC) held in Philadelphia, PA. We look forward to you returning and we welcome all other Sorors to join them as Soror Sponsors of the 93 North Atlantic Regional Conference (NARC) in Atlantic City, New Jersey to be held February 8 – 11, 2024. The F.I.R.S.T. administration heard your feedback, has made some changes, and is adding a few additional perks to the Tea Rose level. Just a reminder that the Tea Rose level will allow sorors to register early and have a room reserved for them. There are a limited number of Tea Rose sponsorships, and they are available on a first-come basis until the day before registration opens. When the official registration opens for everyone, you will be able to go back in and register for any other events that you would like to attend. The focus for the Chapter Exhibit award is to highlight chapter programs conducted in the period being evaluated, January 1, 2023 - December 31, 2023. Chapter exhibits can be provided using video presentation only. Exhibits will NOT be on display during the conference. The exhibit will be judged on application of International Program themes and special activities. Specifically: Displays of current Chapter Involvement: Programs executed during current evaluation period Public relations and chapter image Level of participation by chapter Documentation of events Level of service Program impact on target population Organization of information and materials Creativity/Originality of format For more details on Chapter Awards and Exhibits, please view the NAR Awards-Handbook I and II. CHAPTER AWARDS SUBMISSION FEE FORM Dear Chapter Basilei, Graduate Advisors and Chapter Awards Committee Chairmen: To participate in the 2024 North Atlantic Regional Awards process each chapter must pay a $60.00 registration fee to be eligible to submit up to five entries for judging. An additional $40.00 must be submitted for additional entries (1 or more entries). All fees must be postmarked by Friday, December 15, 2023, and no refunds will be provided. Please make the CHAPTER CHECK or MONEY ORDER payable to the AKA NORTH ATLANTIC REGION. PERSONAL CHECKS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Chapter Awards Submission Fees must be sent prior to awards submissions. Step Show & After Party Participant Information February 8 - 11, 2024 | Atlantic City, NJ 93 North Atlantic Regional Conference rd Registration will close on December 31, 2023. Please make the $50, non-refundable entry fee, payable to Alpha Kappa Alpha, North Atlantic Region. Acceptable forms of payment include: Chapter Check, Certified Check or Money Order. Box 457 Burlington, NJ 08016-0457 Registration Contact Email: [email protected] Participating team members must be active financial members with an undergraduate , graduate or general member standing within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated . All chapters that requested approval to step or stroll from the Regional Director MUST register to perform. All teams must register and submit a team roster using the following https://form.jotform.com/223159333243148 Teams shall refer to the North Atlantic Region Step & Stroll guidelines outlined in the members only section of the North Atlantic Region website. Registration Rules and Regulations Each performance is allotted 5-6 minutes. Out of respect to other organizations and chapters, performances over 6 minutes are not allowed. Please plan accordingly. A team can have a maximum of ten performers but must have at least two performers. All competing teams should have up to two helpers, and the group (team & helpers) will not be assessed a ticket fee to enter the Step Show and After Party event. A stage rehearsal will occur to ensure that all performers know the run of the show. Team members must check in at the NARC office (Atlantic City Convention Center) no later than 7:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2024. Most (if not all) of your performers are expected to attend. If someone cannot be in attendance for the stage rehearsal, please fill them in on the run of the show as soon as possible. ® 60

Please refrain from music that is sexually explicit and includes profanity. This music is not allowed and will result in immediate disqualification. You will be allowed to request a song to be played for strolling. All music should be shared with Ruth Diegue, [email protected], at your earliest convenience but no later than January 31 . In addition, please bring a copy of your music on a flash drive so we can be prepared for unforeseen circumstances. Sexually explicit or lewd physical gestures are prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification. Any obscenity, nudity, violence, degrading of other organizations, excessive gyrations, and use of vulgarity will result in point deductions OR team disqualification. If a team member is found to be disruptive, disrespectful, or expressly unprofessional, the team will be disqualified. This includes any vulgar or disrespectful behavior on or off the stage directed to any team member or official. The event chairman will decide the order of the performances. The following props are NOT permitted: Screens, floor shows, fog machines, fire/fireworks (pyrotechnics), or special lighting Helium balloons and confetti Baby oil, water, other liquids, and food If your performance utilizes props, please send us a rendering of your setup for approval to [email protected] by January 31 . Prize money will be awarded to organizations in the competition team category only. All participants must present a valid picture ID to enter the performance facility. Other members of your chapter who are not performing may not be backstage or on stage at any time during the show and must purchase a ticket for entry. Disqualifications The following behavior will result in disqualification from the competition Inappropriate content (nudity, fighting, lewd acts, etc.) Including music that contains sexually explicit and/or foul (vulgar) language Please remember that the audience attending this performance will include individuals of various ages (children, VIPs, etc.). For this reason, groups are asked to refrain from profanity in the music selection and alluding to the use of alcohol and/or drugs. Please refrain from using imagery and signals that are associated with an organization that is not yours. The Regional Director reserves the right to disqualify a team for any of the reasons above. Point reductions will only be made if a majority of the judges feel the organization has committed a violation. A two-point reduction will occur if the team exceeds the 6-minute time limit. Prizes Chapters will compete against each other Prizes will be awarded to top performers Only competition teams are eligible for prize money and must pay the $50.00 nonrefundable entry fee. Prizes for the teams are: 1st Place: $1,500 2nd Place: $750 3rd Place: $375 Point Reductions and Disqualifications Judges will be representatives chosen from National Pan-Hellenic Council organizations. Point Categories Originality/Creativity 1-15 Stage Presence 1-10 Sound/Pitch 1-15 Costume 1-5 Crowd Reaction 1-5 Minimum points: 5 pts Maximum points: 50 pts If you are deemed a winner, please notify us in writing to whom the check should be payable and the address where the check should be mailed.
