Paraprofessional CLASSROOM

INTRODUCTORY 1
Ms. Jaiden
Montandon
Hello, it is a great pleasure to meet you and welcome you into our classroom as a
paraprofessional. My name is Jaiden Montandon, but the students call me Ms. Montandon.
Ahead of us is an exciting new year of learning, growing, and fun. Aside from teaching, I
enjoy being able to relax at home, spend time with family and friends, and the ability to
create. In my spare time away from school, I enjoy being apart of theatre and bowling. As an
educator or even a staff member always remember to take time for yourself outside of work.
In my classroom my goal is give students the best opportunities to grow and feel comfortable
where they are and with who they are. Making my classroom somewhere were students can
walk in and feel at eaze and ready for the day of learning is what I want to provide my
students. Being able to be a guide for them and teach them skills or information that they will
use everyday is greatly important to me. Plus, allowing them to interact with one another and
give them opportunities for kinesthic learning in the classroom. Most of all I want to build
relationships with my students and get to know them whether that be likes, dislikes, strengths,
or weaknesses. Including finding what I can do to best assist their needs to provide an
appropriate learning experience.

Paraprofessional
Roles
As a paraprofessional there are different impotant roles that are expected of
you:
Be Flexible
Finding ways to be prepared because not everything may go as planned.
Be a good remodel.
Be someone students can look up to and be a good model for their actions. Encouragement is a great example
both a positive and appropriate statement.
Help teacher complete daily tasks.
Such as classroom duties and instructional time or to help students keep on task.
Assist their specific student.
Help provide an appropriate education for the specific student based on the students needs and accommodations.
*These are not the only important roles as a paraprofessional, but are some important ones to begin to think about when being in my classroom.

Roles to Avoid
As a paraprofessional there is also a list that is important to make certain not to follow in the classroom
or out:
Breaking Confidentiality
The child's information only is kept between the personnel working directly with the student.
Write IEP's
IEP's are previously written prior to having a paraprofessional to assist the student and then the paraprofessional will
help follow those specific areas that the student may be needing assistance in.
Become the Students Best Friend
Although it is important to build relationships, becoming to close with a student may open a path for students and
encouragment to not have much respect for what may be said and see paraprofessionals not as an authority to give
them instruction.
Plan Lessons
Teachers will be the ones to create those lessons that you follow and the student has accomodations for.
*These are not the only important roles to avoid as a paraprofessional, but are some important ones to begin to think about when being in my classroom.
Training 4
1. Observation
a. Allowing observations within my classroom can help
you better become familiar with the curriculm,
classroom rules, and see how information is being
taught. On pages 5 and 6 are note pages to help you
get started and a way to keep track of observation
notes.
2. Provide important information throughout the year
about our classroom
a. Such as pre-written notes of important information to
know and class expectations.
3. Provide informationl resources to help with continued
learning
a. These resources could range from strategies to videos
of learning to provide support for specific students.
Training is something that I want to provide you with is to help guide you as a paraprofessional and learn about my classroom.
If you ever run into questions do not be afraid to speak up and ask me. Althought I may be busy, the best method to contact me is by email,
breaks between content areas, or by writing a post-it note and leaving it on my desk.
