YEARBOOK

memoriesTHANK YOU FOR THE

THE YEAR internship

OvFirTtHuEal
The University Experience Team would like to thank our 2020 Summer
PayPal Interns for a successful and exciting twelve week virtual intern
season this summer!

Everyone at our company was excited to have you with us and came
together as One Team, through this unprecedented time, to make sure you
would have the best experience in a remote work environment.

Our goal during this virtual season was to remain true to the intern program
mission and values of ensuring we deliver a valuable and relevant experience
for each and every one of you during your time with us this year.

We provided you the opportunity to work on real, meaningful projects that
made an impact on PayPal’s business and customers, a chance to meet with
some of our leaders, hear from various business partners, engage in
personal and professional development workshops, and build a strong
network with your peers and leaders. We hope you “leaned in” and were
able to take advantage of the amazing initiatives that were designed to
develop your strengths, focus on our personal and professional growth, build
a community, and have fun.

We are honored to have been a part of your career journey and couldn’t
be prouder of all you have accomplished during this internship. We wish you

Take care and stay safe!all the best in the year to come.

INTERN FEEDBACK

I would say that the virtual program has been wonderful in that it really
allows you to connect with so many people across the PayPal realm.
Since we are sheltering in place still and not physically in the office,
people are eager to talk and connect with each other. The virtual
program has really been able to channel this energy via the connect

app as well as an intern meetup channel on slack. These channels have
really given way to some meaningful conversations as well as some
connections that will outlive the internship. When asking many
employees about what is the best part of working at PayPal, the
common response is “the people.” I think this is very true, and the

Issac Askeyvirtual program has been able to successfully make this a realization.

I feel super well communicated with all the time. I love and appreciate all of the emails,
Slack messages, and Teams calls & events & programs organized by Melissa and the
University Experience Team. Orientation was a super fun couple days for me. And the
swag in the mail is super fun & I appreciate it a lot. Also, my hiring manager and team
are fantastic with communication - it is great. For being so far apart, I feel like I know
everyone on my team pretty well. And I really enjoy the company of my team always,
everyone is so cool.I also want to put a huge, huge shout-out for diversity & inclusion
forums and communications. Those have been so, so needed, and listening was
great. These conversations are not easy and need to keep happening, however they
always feel so therapeutic to me. PayPal’s diversity & inclusion efforts, and mission in
service of people and communities, both over the long term, is amazing. Anyhow, no
one expected to be working at their mom’s house this summer, yet here we are. While I
miss being able to go into a PayPal office or meeting anyone in person, I am super
grateful for all the virtual connections. In fact - I might even say that a lot of us interns,
we get to see more of each other because we are all kind of in the same virtual
office. That is a silver lining. One thing about COVID-19 is that I think it is easy to make
the comparison from now to 8 or 12 months ago. But the true comparison is now
compared to what now would be like if we were not able to work at home. And the
truth is, as tough as it is to work from home and be isolated in that way, we are lucky to
be able to work at home because it is much more safe & better for others right now.
