Shamshera (transl. Sword) is an upcoming 2020 Indian ac-
tion-adventure film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and
Vaani Kapoor. It is produced by Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj
Films. The movie is written and being directed by Karan
Malhotra. Set in the 1800s, the film is about a dacoit tribe
who took charge in fight for their rights and independence against the
British. Ranbir Kapoor is playing double role, as central character Sham-

Tracing the life journey of Param Vir Chakra

awardee and army captain Vikram Batra, it
stars Sidharth Malhotra in a double role, as
Batra and his identical twin brother Vishal;
Kiara Advani plays the female lead. The offi-
cial announcement for film was made in May
2019; principal photography commenced in
the same month and wrapped up in January
2020. First look posters of the film were un-
veiled on 16 January 2020 with release date
confirmed to be 3 July 2020. This also marks
