Abundant Life Cathedral 2022 Vision

The horrific things that have happened in our world and country during the last few years reminds the church of its call
to pray and respond to the greatest needs of our day with love and hope. There are some who claim to be Christians who
respond to the unsettling realities in fear and withdraw, but that will not be characteristic of the membership of
Abundant Life. As Pastor of this church, I believe God wants our lives to over-flow with mercy, love and compassion and
be a Matthew 25 Church. “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me
something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you
looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me...” A church that engages in these
kinds of activities will encounter a living God working through them to usher in His kingdom of love and justice on

This year has slowly improved after the 2020 pandemic. There is some semblance of life pre-pandemic returning to our
church services. As a church, we had to pivot and change how we conduct weekly services, clean, sanitize and
communicate with our members! I believe beyond a shadow of doubt, that this pandemic will eventually be behind us
and we need to continually look forward to what God has in store!

There is an old saying, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” I was reading an article the other day that said:
1. Churches that resist change will decline more rapidly. It is hard to effect change in many churches because people are
quick to say, “We’ve never done it that way before.” Change resistance will result in faster decline than ever before.
2. More churches will struggle to find pastors. Today there are many pastor-less churches because the pastor killed
himself trying to preach every sermon, visit every sick person, perform every wedding, baptize every person, and teach
every Bible Study. A pastor may be able to care for 30 people but not 230.

In 2022, Evangelism must be a priority because that is part of the Great Commission. Evangelism can’t be just another
activity because it is vital to the viability and growth of the church.

Our worship must go to the level where everyone is engaged in glorifying God through song and letting our light shine
so that people will see our good works and glorify our father in heaven. We have to re-imagine our children’s ministries,
youth ministries and groups for older adults. As a church, we will have to continue our online presence for worship,
pastoral care, learning and fellowship. We have to come up with new ways to invite, welcome, and connect people who
come to us online. We must also focus on Church health and not church growth. If a church is healthy, it will grow

A budget is more than dollars and cents; it’s about lives being transformed by the power of God. Jesus gave his life, not
for a building, but the people; so people must be a priority. After ascending back to the father, Jesus left the task of
helping lost people find their way back to God to one specific group of people, the church.

Our 2022 Ministry plan is designed to help you live the kind of life that Jesus honors and blesses. I’m sure you want to
know what that looks like. It’s one that glorifies God, grows to be like Jesus, and is equipped to go into the world. For
the first three months of January, we look at three values.
1. Health...spiritual and physical health enables us to do more for God.
2. Generosity...stewardship frees us from the trap of selfishness.
3., generous churches reproduce

Within this Ministry plan are time commitments, programs, and finances, but please don’t misunderstand me-God is not
after your time, talent, or treasure. He is eternal, all powerful, and definitely not financially strapped. God is after your
heart. You are what God wants most.

Abundant Life Cathedral 2022 Vision

For 2022 I am asking every member to:
COMMIT: Make a commitment to showing up and being present. Let’s move from lip service to active service.
CONTRIBUTE: Contribute fresh ideas, time and resources!
COLLABORATE: Work with one another and other ideas into being a reality.

1 Corinthians 12:12 says: “For as the body is one and has many members, and all members of that one body, being many, are one
body: so also, is Christ.”
1 Peter 4:10 says: “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold
grace of God.”

Ephesians 4:11-17 says: And He gave some apostles, and some, prophets, and some evangelist; and some pastors and teachers. For
the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. Till we all come in the unity of the
faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the statue of the fullness of Christ. That we
henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning
craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the
head, even Christ. From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supply, according to
the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase in the body unto the edifying of itself in love. This I say
therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind.

In 2022, We will reinstitute Building the Body.

I will meet with the deacons, choir, ushers, youth ministry, elderly, Sunday school, outreach and Education to see what was we can
reimagine ourselves.

I’m sure that all of us would want 12 months of happiness, 52 weeks of success, 365 days of health, 8700 hours of peace
and 52,5600 minutes of love in the coming year. However, those things will not happen without your faith and
efforts. As 2019 is ushered out and 2020 ushered in, God gives us “A New Year to start off right going in the Right
direction” things won’t change for the better unless we change for the better and we all know that can’t happen
without a positive mindset and that comes from making the right affirmations.

Henry Ford once said: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t-you’re right. Our thoughts and beliefs
shape both our perception and experience of ourselves and the World around us. Research indicates that nearly 80%
of our self-talk is negative. Imagine spending your whole day listing to a recording of whining, complaints and
criticisms. What many people fail to recognize is that they are listening to these types of thoughts in their head on
repeat every day.

Our programming can become so ingrained in us that we may not be aware of existence. Thoughts such as “I not
good at anything,” “Life is hard,” “I can’t take it anymore” may cross our minds so frequently that we began to
recognize them as facts and no longer question the possibility that things could be different.
The word affirmation comes from the Latin word affirmare, which means to strengthen and make steady.”
Affirmation statements are affirming that something is true for us. The purpose for positive affirmation is to affirm to
ourselves that things are good even if we don’t feel that way at the time.

Positive affirmations have the power to transform lives. They play a significant role in many therapeutic models,
including cognitive behavioral therapy. A treatment for depression. Positive affirmations are also at the forefront of
many 12-step rehabilitation programs.

Carefully constructed positive affirmations can rewire our brains to break negative thought patterns. Similar to

exercise, positive affirmations can actually increase the amount of feel-good hormones in our brains. Positive

thoughts create positive emotions, which can actually change our physiology and improve our mental and emotional

and physical health. Use the following positive affirmations and other nutrional guides to reform your outlook for

I AM A GOOD STEWARD OVER ALL THAT I POSSESS. I have a plan for my money. I pay in full whatever I’ve
borrowed, I am intentional with my spending and pay attention to my money. I only take on what I can handle, and I am
generous and wise with my Giving. I am a generational wealth builder and I support the Kingdom of God through tithes and
liberal offerings.
I AM WORTHY OF LOVE HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT. This affirmation can increase your self-esteem and self-

2022 Fasting Instructions
January 2 - January 22, 2022

*Review the Consecration Calendar for weekly breakdown*
1. Although not specifically mentioned in the fasting regiment, please try to limit your
overall intake of :
—All pork and beef, dairy products, sweets, sweeteners, sodas, added sodium, or foods high in salt,
fried foods, refined and processed food products
—Eating after 8pm
2. Commit to Personal Development:
—No credit card charges for a new purchase or borrowing money
—Pray for HIS vision for your life and empowerment to do HIS will
—Invite God to use you. Ask Him to show you how to influence your world, your family, your
church, your community , your country, and beyond!
3. Contribute to Ministry:
—Be present at every service or corporate gathering (in-person/online) during the 21 days
—Invite someone to worship with you Jan 9 & 16
—Win at least one soul and disciple them to your church
—Give your first fruits offering (10% of your first check or increase) in addition to your tithe
4. Collaborate with accountability partners to adopt a healthier lifestyle by adding:
