Early Childhood Education

Early Childhood Education is a fundamental stage in building the educational pathway for
every child since it prepares them for their formal years in school. In Spectrum International
School, we believe that students should be shaped not only academically but also as
independent Muslims. That is why we carefully select the best curriculums and tools to
develop our future learners.

THE FINNISH EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM

This program is outlined by experts in the development of early childhood education from
the University of Helsinki. Referred to as HEI curriculum, it is known to be student centric
where students' life skills grow and develop as they learn, play and socialise in a stress-free
environment. It also pays great attention to the students' wellbeing by teaching them about
their emotions and how to deal with them.

Primary

Spectrum International school’s primary students receive a well-balanced, high standard
education on a daily basis, starting from the morning Quran Session (Halaqah) and
continuing with Flipped classroom tasks and active learning activities.

When it comes to the subjects taught to our primary students, there are Maths, Science,
English, Arabic, Islamic History, Bahasa Melayu, STEM and Physical Education. Various
successful curriculums are used, such as Cambridge, Kalemon and Basser.

Our students are provided with Chromebooks in order to give them the access to Spectrum
digital modules, SEM. With their own personalised google accounts, they can use Google for
educational applications like Google Classroom, Google Chat and Google meet. They will also
be able to use the school’s educational modules to practise and access resources anytime
and anywhere conveniently.

Using such modules has made it possible for students and teachers to smoothly transit from
physical learning in school to online and blended learning. For primary students, we believe
that education should not be stressful and that's why our lower primary (Year 1, Year 2 and
Year 3) students will be assessed through detailed observation, speaking and practical
evaluation despite giving them formal examinations or nal tests. However, our upper
primary students will be assessed through examinations as they take the o cial Cambridge
Progression Test.

Secondary

Secondary stage is very crucial as students are being prepared for their tertiary level educational
journey. Therefore, homeroom and subject teachers are carefully chosen to provide students
with the strong support they need.
Each student is provided with a Chromebook to access Spectrum Education Modules anytime and
anywhere. With their own personalised Google and Microsoft for education accounts, they can
communicate, connect and collaborate with their teachers and their peers. In addition, Spectrum's
Educational Modules (SEM) will give students the opportunity to prepare, study and practice to
improve their knowledge and understanding. Students will strengthen and enhance their ability
to study independently and to keep track of their own progress.
Being present in a culturally diverse community, our students enjoy the experience of
understanding various cultures that shaped their empathetic hearts. This experience serves as a
platform in developing their leadership skills, making them better at socialising, solving authentic
challenges and being present as a team player. By utilising those skills, they become a
contributing member of the community.
