MPD / Ministry of Partner Development page / 11 Call a few friends, order pizza, and fold and stuff letters together. Precious Savior, I come to You today in humility, asking for Your divine help in this task of writing a newsletter. For how could I hope to craft words of any significance apart from You, O Living Word, or share any story of worth except for the one You're writing? Let my mind and this page be filled only with that which glorifies You alone. When it feels like there is nothing to say and I'm struggling to find words to write, may I remember that You are always working, You are always moving, and perhaps the most important work I can write about is the one You're doing in my heart, because when I tend to focus on how much or how little I'm doing, You are more concerned with who I'm becoming. Father, give me grace to set wise boundaries in the stories I tell, to honor the dignity and agency of those I serve (and of my own self). May I never exploit or expose, misusing a story or relationship in order to have something to say, but may I always write with integrity, choosing the good of others over my own. When there is much to share and much to rejoice over, give me humility to make You the center, and not myself. When things are hard and I'm tempted to complain, give me discernment to share only what will provoke prayer and not just pity. When life feels monotonous, and updates feel stale, give me insight to know how to bring my readers into the story You're writing. Holy Spirit, where my words fall short, would you speak to those who read them, stirring up prayer and passion for this corner of the world? Let their hearts be filled with joy as they read of the work You are doing, and may every word I write be an offering of praise for Your glory alone, an echo of thanksgiving from one side of the globe to another, to You, O Word of Life, the Author of all our days, the Beginning and End of all our stories. It provides practical advice on fundraising along with resources, such as a Bible study and worksheets. BOOKS

MPD / Ministry of Partner Development page / 45 RESOURCES A Spirituality of Fundraising by Henri Nouwen draws on examples from Scripture that show that asking for money goes beyond funding a necessary goal—it also encourages people to use their gifts of engagement, energy, and prayer to accomplish a common mission. The God Ask by Steve Shadrach gives a biblical approach to personal support raising that will help you embrace appointments with confidence knowing this is not a “man ask.” No –– it is a “God ask.” Funding the Family Business by Myles Wilson gives Christians knowledge and expertise in building a support team. Similar to Funding your Ministry, Wilson offers practice advice on fundraising. Revolution in Generosity: Transforming Stewards to be Rich Towards God by Wesley Willmer says, "The foundation for realizing a revolution in generosity is understanding the biblical view of possessions, generosity, and asking for resources." Capital campaigns and raising funds go deeper than the money: they are spiritual activities in becoming more like Christ. God and Your Stuff: The Vital Link Between Your Possessions and Your Soul by Wesley Willmer explores the biblical foundation for the crucial connection between our eternal souls and our earthly possessions. Our use of possessions is a barometer of our character, and how our giving practices develop our faith and shape us into the stewards God intended us to be.
