THE LEO CLUB PROGRAM

HISTORY & OBJECTIVE

In 1957, the Glenside Lions Club from the US State of Pennsylvania sponsored the
world’s first Leo Club, the Abington High School Leo Club with 35 students. The
two Lions who pioneered this are William Ernst & Jim Graver. A decade later, the
Lions Club International (LCI) Board of Directors adopted the Leo Club Program as an
official program of the association.

To provide the youth of the world with an opportunity for development &
contribution, individually and collectively as responsible members of the local,
national and international community. Leo Club members around the world fulfill
this objective every day. Leo Club activities and projects enhance the community and
help young people develop and practice leadership, organization and social skills.
The Leo Club movement can instill in young people a lifetime commitment to helping
others.

The Leo Club program has been growing for over 50 years. Community service
remains the cornerstones of the program, like their Lions counterpart, Leo Club
members enjoy serving their neighbors and watching positive results unfold.

In 1969, the first ever Leo Club was inaugurated in Sri Lanka, Leo Club of Wattala and
the program became popular among Lions which paved the way for many youths by
organizing more Leo Clubs, in 1978 the Lions Multiple had sufficient Lions CLubs to
have sub DIstricts and Multiple 306 was divided into 306 A & B. In 1989, 306 C was
born as a subdivision of 306 A & B. The redistricting took place again in 2005 and
today there are 6 Leo Districts in Sri Lanka which are 306 A1, 306 A2, 306 B1, 306 B2,
306 C1 & 306 C2.

THE LEO CLUB MOTTO

LEADERSHIP: Leo members acquire skills as project
organizers and motivators of their peers.
EXPERIENCE: They discover how teamwork and
cooperation can bring change in their community and
the world.
OPPORTUNITY: Leos develop positive character
traits and receive recognition for their contributions

PROGRAM

An integral part of the Lions International network, Leos also have their own network
of more than 8000 Leo clubs in approximately 152 nations. The international scope of
LCI provides Leo club members with a unique global identity.

Leo Clubs are open to young men & women of good character from the age of 12 to
30, who are dedicated to making a difference in their communities. Each Leo club is
sponsored by a Lions Club. Leo club members elect their own officers, schedule their
own meetings and execute their own fundraisers and service projects. Popular service
initiatives among Leo Clubs include the protection of the environment; community
improvement; drug abuse prevention; health education; educational assistance and
social services.

The social aspect of the Leo Clubs Program provides opportunities to meet
other young people who share common interests, values & goals. The
internationalscopeofLeoClubsprovidesforinteractionandregionalLeoforums,theLions
International Convention, Global Leo Conference, “Club Twinning” or pen pals. In
addition, Leos can apply for participation in the Lions International Youth Exchange
& Youth camp programs.

GREEN
since green is linked to vitality, greater capacity, and prosperity, it symbolizes the
enormous potential that our Leos have. We typically think of it as a well-balanced, healthy,
and youthful color, similar to the balance our young Leos exhibit. Additionally, green
encourages innovation and productivity and is connected to progress.

ORANGE
Orange represents our Leos’ tremendous energy and dynamic social environment.
Being an active color, orange evokes powerful emotions, increased activity, and greater
awareness of our surroundings, much like how our Leos draw their inspiration from their
surroundings. Like our Leos, oranges are considered as being lively and fun.

YELLOW
The warmth, brightness, and positivity that Leos exhibit are related with the color
yellow. It is the complete opposite of dark and dull and symbolizes the passion and
awareness that Leos possess.

It is with great pleasure that I forward this message to the Leo Multiple
District Directory for the fiscal year 2022/2023.

During the 54 years of existence, the Multiple Council Chairman, the Leo
movement has been continuously engaged in excellent service projects and
organizing leadership training programs to uplift leadership qualities which
is one of the missions of the Leos.

Leo Rahul aththanayaka was elected as Leo MD 306 president at the
business session held recently and from the inception we worked
very closely. During this short period of time I recognized his
leadership capabilities. He is a very energetic person with determination and
novel ideas. The highly successful Leadership symposium was evident for the
dedication and teamwork of this year’s team . I hope this team spirit will
help successfully implement your future programs such as FLM /PFLM, Leo
Olympics Leo Graduation, Fusion V, and also the programs planned for
recognizing past leaders and annual get-together.

FOR LEOS

I am indeed honored to pen this message as the District Chairman for Leos
of Multiple District 306, for the 45th Annual Leo Multiple District Installation
News Bulletin.

Also, I take this opportunity to congratulate the Incoming Multiple District
Leo President Leo Rahul Attanayake for your commitment by taking the
leadership and I would like to thank and congratulate Leo Outgoing Multiple
District President Leo Lion Dilshan Peiris for your tremendous achievements
during the year Leoistic year 2021-2022 despite the Covid Pandemic and many
difficulties.

As the Multiple District Chairman for Leos I am extremely happy to work
with the Leos in the Multiple District 306, also I assure that I will give the
liberty to act independently and to carry out all your activities according to Leo
Multiple District Constitution and best practices.

It is my vision to encourage Leos to take up leadership positions, gain
experience and gain knowledge through Leoism. I proudly announce the Leos
have maintained proper administration and proper finance management in
the Multiple District 306 in the past.

The Leo Multiple have extended many Leo Clubs and organized many
service projects in the past which is a remarkable achievement. Number of novel
initiatives were promoted for the betterment of Leos, since change is
inevitable and growth is essential. The Leos are always encouraged to
experiment and learn new things in an environment which is highly

challenging and dynamic.

Looking forward to working with each and every Leo club in the Multiple
District to take Leoism to the highest standards in the world.

THE MULTIPLE DISTRICT PRESIDENT

“Aim for the moon if you miss you may hit a star”

This is a well-known quote we have all heard at least once throughout our
lives. This quote explicitly suggests that if you have a huge goal, you may
wind up getting closer to it. However, we as individuals must not convince
ourselves to be satisfied with the bare minimum. We should always be more
focused on our actual dreams and goals and make sure that we create the
environment to achieve them.

Thinking innovatively will open doors to explore the possibilities that you
could obtain to achieve those targets. This year, I aim to foster and develop the
innovative thinking of the Leos and to assist them in becoming better versions
of themselves as Leos while they serve the communities around them.

In order to boost the Leo Multiple District 306, two of the main programs that
have been introduced this year will be, the FLM & PFLM Program which will
help Leos to continue their great work and innovative ideas, and will be a great
support system for them to implement their projects for worthwhile causes.
Furthermore, the next important step for the future of the Leo movement of
the Leo Multiple District 306 and its leadership is to expand the movement to
the Maldives.

Not only that, but we are in the process of developing infrastructure facilities
to provide a roof to the administrative bodies in the Multiple by constructing
an office for the six District Presidents and the Multiple District President, as
well as a space designated for the Club Presidents of the Leo Multiple.

As leaders, we must adapt to and move with the world’s
updated and forthcoming technological trends. As a result, steps were
taken to put in place the MyLeo online reporting and
administrative portal. For the first time in the Leo Multiple
District, we are also gathering all past leaders in the Leo
Multiple to promote current activities in the current movement
and to have a fellowship evening with them while getting them
to share their experiences and obtain their active participation
once more.

We, as a Multiple, have taken all required efforts to benefit not
only this year but also in theforthcoming years, which will have
a significant impact on the sustainability of the Leo Multiple
District 306!

Therefore, I invite all my dear Leos to join hands with us to unveil
yourself through serving!

As the District President of Leo District 306 A1 , I would like to convey my
sincere wishes to the Outgoing Multiple District President Leo Lion Dilshan
Peiris and his team for completing a wonderful year even during a challenging
Leoistic Year.

Also, I convey my heartiest congratulations to the Multiple District President
Leo Rahul Attanayake and the team for a superb Leoistic year. I am confident
that Leo Rahul will take the Leo Multiple to greater heights this year together
with all 6 Districts, proving his leadership along with innovative measures.

It’s a New Year! New Era! New Chapter! And a New Change! I hope you are
ready to take the baton of change, as we are marching together towards a
sustainable future for all.

Living sustainably is an important practice towards saving the environment
and using the resources of our surrounding efficiently. Whether people
are zero waste or just getting started, your individual practices can make a
huge difference. As Leos it is important for us to identify and manage the
resources in our surrounding efficiently. Our future relies on sustainable
initiatives which would ensure management of such resources. So this year
Leo District 306 A2 is ready to create independent individuals who make
sustainable decisions to suit the needs of the changing society.

The economic crisis of Sri Lanka and the changing times of the
society paved way for the theme for the year 2022/2023 of Leo District
306 A2 which is “Changing Paradigms” giving priority to the concept of
Sustainabilityandchangingthecurrentpatternsoflifebyencouragingleostocreate
value in each other with sustainable projects, skills and knowledge. Growth
of the Movement is as important as conducting sustainable projects because
bringing new blood is easy but retaining the same is the hardest challenge.
This year will be a year to build pillars of trust, passion and confidence
within each other thereby encouraging Leos to continue their service and reap
the many benefits offered by this wonderful movement. Maintaining quality
administrative standards within the movement along with encouraging clubs
to tighten their relationship with the Lions Movement is another key area that
focus is directed towards this year.

This year I hope to march together towards a sustainable chapter with the
theme “Changing Paradigms”.

I would like to express my sincere best wishes to the outgoing Multiple
District President Leo Lion Dilshan Peiris and his team for completing a
victorious year. Also I would like to congratulate Leo Rahul Attanayake for
being elected as the Multiple District President of Leo Multiple District 306,
Sri Lanka.

Leoism is a place leaders are born. It is a great opportunity for all the youth
around the world for their individual development. Leoism has many to offer
for a person who is willing to gain leadership qualities, experience and the
opportunities.

Leo Rahul Attanayake is a smart, courageous and a confident person who
has rendered his service to the Leo movement in high capacities by being

In addition, I wish the incoming Leo Multiple District 306, Sri Lanka
President Leo Sandeep Rahul Attanayaka and his team a prosperous Leoistic
year. It is certain that Leos of Leo Multiple District 306, Sri Lanka, will have an

It is with absolute gratification and honour that I pen this message to the
Directory of Leo Multiple District 306 for the Leostic year 2022/23. In the first
place, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for the invitation to express my words on
this felicitous occasion of the 45th Leo Multiple District Installation Ceremony.

On behalf of Leo District 306 C1, as the District President, I hereby deliver
my best wishes to the newly elected office bearers preparing to take up the
responsibilities and challenges embarking on a new Leostic year.

I strongly believe that the newly installed Leo Multiple District President,
Leo Rahul Attanayaka will inspire, influence, and guide the Leos of Sri Lanka
towards a common goal, in line with the theme “Unveiling Yourself through
Serving”, thus providing a vast range of opportunities for young enthusiastic
leaders to develop themselves. In this regard, it is vital to state that Leo Rahul
Attanayaka has formulated a triumphant year plan which is currently in a
successful progression that targets elevating leoism towards the upliftment of
the Nation.

I would also like to ensure that as a Leo District, we the C1 Leos will provide
our fullest support and cooperation to a greater extent possible in all future
endeavors in line with our theme “Empower Leaders Embrace Unity”, to bring
about a positive change and to accomplish as the best Leo Multiple District
while conquering the world by fostering unity and coexistence.

I strongly reckon that by inculcating the true spirit of Leoism within the mem-
bers, it is possible to reach the desired destination.

THE DISTRICT PRESIDENT OF THE

LEO DISTRICT 306 C2

It is a great privilege for me to pen this message to the Directory of the
Leo Multiple District 306, Sri Lanka, as the District President of Leo
District 306 C2. First of all, I take this opportunity to convey my heartiest
congratulations to Leo Rahul Attanayake for being elected as the Multiple District
President for the year 2022-23. Working alongside a fellow C2 Leo who set an
outstanding example to all his subordinates is indeed a great pleasure. Under the
leadership of such a visionary leader, I’m sure that the Leo Club program of
Sri Lanka will reach greater heights. Also, I would like to assure the fullest
support of Leo District 306 C2 on all endeavours of the Multiple District.

As a Leo, fostering healthy and strong relationships among Leos has always
been one of my key priorities. I was able to achieve this goal to a certain extent
as a Club President, and this will continue to be one of my main goals as a
District President as well. As Leo leaders, we are in the capacity to encourage
and guide our Leos to get together and conduct wonderful service projects
that can help hundreds and thousands of our fellow people.

We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. Together
we can create a better world where young hopes and dreams can prosper, and
along the process, we can inspire all youth to be the change they wish to see
in the world.

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF
MULTIPLE DISTRICT PRESIDENT

“Innovation is seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought”

So does Leo Rahul Attanayake, who is renowned as one of the most innovative Leos in the history of Leoism
in Sri Lanka.

He was born as the only son with two older sisters to Mr.D.R. Attananayake and Mrs.Rohini Attanayake. Leo
Rahul Attanayake completed his primary and secondary education under Cambridge curriculum at Lyceum
International School, Nugegoda. He held many responsibilities and positions during the school time being
the charter president
of the school Buddhist society, Secretary of the ICT society, member of the warden society. Sports wise, he
was the captain of the school soccer team and a team member of the athletic squad.

Leo Rahul joined the Leo movement in the year 2013 as a member of the Leo Club of Kottawa Central Golden
City. He received the privilege of being an assistant secretary, Treasurer and eventually the club president
of the club in the Leoistic year 2016/2017. During his presidency, he was able to bring his club to a very
remarkable level by conducting novel yet innovative projects for the movement. Few of the major projects
he conducted under
different themes were; “Henanigalata Mangachchamu” blending old age traditions of the indigenous
people of Sri Lanka/ vedi tribes with a hint of an urban Christmas party celebration at Henanigala. He
brought everyone’s attention to see 64 hallucinations of women with the online project “maayam 64+”,
Centennial Soccer League is the all-time massive sports event in Sri Lankan history done by a Leo Club
which was continuously organized for three consecutive years with three different anthems by winning
back-to-back best sports and recreation event in the Leo Multiple District. “Viru Karuna” is another project
he initiated for the sake of incurable and immobilized war heroes by carrying them on the shoulders of Leos
to the top of sacred peak of Sri Pada.

Furthermore, it is beyond imagination but he did a project for non-living creatures! ”Nodutu Manaya”,
religious chanting of all four religions were held at the Borella cemetery all night.
Leo Rahul Attanayake held many positions in the Leo District 306 C2 council such as District Coordinator
for youth empowerment, District Treasurer, District Vice President and he was the District President in the
Leoistic Year 2020/21. Apart from his positions, he served the District in many aspects such as being the
chairman of the Leo Mass Induction of Leo multiple District 306 and being the chairman for the 14th Annual

District Conference of Leo District 306 C2 in the year 2018/2019. Leo Rahul also participated for the 1st ever
historical Leo ISAAME forum 2016 as a delegate which was held in Sri Lanka.

Being very passionate in everything he does Leo Rahul Attanayake made his Leo club and District proud by
winning the most prestigious award in the Leo movement, the Leo of the year in District 306 C2 and made
the district sparkled by being the Most outstanding Leo executive of the Leo multiple 306, Sri Lanka in the
2018/2019. In the year 2019/20 he won the Leo Scholar award in the Leo District 306 C2. As the District
President of the Leo District 306 C2 in the Leoistic Year 2020/21 under the theme “Finding Yourself through
Serving” along with the support of his team; he was able to extend 8 new Leo clubs - 4 Omega Clubs and 4
Alpha Leo Clubs and 6 Leo Club reactivations were done. He was able to raise the active Leo Clubs in the
District up to 31 active Leo Clubs. The district holds a world record with the highest membership growth in
a Leo District in the world under the leadership of Leo Rahul Attanayake with a net membership growth of
2209 by 215% with the total District membership over 3200 Leos.

Despite the global pandemic situation, he was able to complete all the district events planned for the year by
proving impossible is absolutely nothing. Also, he introduced many new events to the Leo District - Leaders
outing Eka, Clash of Zones, C2 Legends, C2 Games Colombo 2020 - A multiscale interhouse sportsmeet with
an aquatic meet, track & field events and other sports events, Battle of C’s inter-district cricket tournament
was introduced in the same year with the collaboration of Leo District 306 C1. Urban adventures Leo Youth
Camp for the year turned into the biggest Leo Youth camp in the Sri Lankan Leo History with over 170
participants. He introduced a mega scale humanitarian service project named ‘Manudam.
To uplift the administration standard of the Leo District a KPI reporting system was introduced to the Leo
District council officers also for the first time in the Leo History of the world, a Leo District council was
insured with a life & hospitalization cover.

At the 44th Annual Leo District conference Leo District won 4 winner awards and one 2nd runner up award
out of the 5 awards awarded for Leo Districts by the Leo Multiple. After successfully completing his tenure
as the District President, he was elected as the Multiple District Vice President of the Leo Multiple District
306, Sri Lanka for the Leoistic Year 2021/22 and did a great a job fulfilling his duties and responsibilities
to the fullest. He is the national Wushu (Chinese Kick Boxing – Sanshu) champion in the consecutive years
2014 and 2015, who still owns the national record for the fastest knockout within 2 seconds. He is also a
qualified Wushu referee. With all his experiences in different fields, he is currently serving his
professionalism in a very reputed company, Softlogic Life PLC as the youngest alternate channel manager
heading BOC endowment team.

He has obtained his MSC in Strategic Marketing at Asia E University, MBA in General at University of
Bedfordshire, MSc in Business Psychology at University of North Hampton, he is a certified life coach as well
as a certified workshop facilitator.
This multi-tasking personality has not hesitated to brush up his skills in leadership by joining some other
organizations
• He is a motivational speaker at path to wisdom in IMCD.
• He was appointed as the Divisional Coordinator for Seethwaka region by Sri Lanka United Nations
friendship organization in 2017.

He was elected as the 45th Leo Multiple District President of Leo Multiple District 306, Sri Lanka for the
Leoistic Year 2022/23!

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF
MULTIPLE DISTRICT VICE PRESIDENT

Leo Dulini Cooray was born in the year 1996 and joined the Leo Club of Negombo Orient during
the Leoistic year 2013/14. She was appointed as the Secretary of the club in the year 2014/15 and
unanimously elected as the president for the leoistic year 2015/2016 at the age of 19.

Under her presidency, the Leo Club of Negombo Orient was awarded the most outstanding club (1st
Runner’s-up) and best administrative club (1st Runner’s-up). She was recognized by the Leo district council
under the past district President Leo Amith Herath and was appointed as the Zone Chairperson for Zone
02. Leo Dulini Cooray was then elected to serve Leo District 306B1 as the District Vice President in the year
2017/2018 at the 12th Annual District Conference. After she was appointed District Vice president, Leo
Dulini was appointed as the Leo District President of Leo District 306 B1 at the age of 23 to serve and lead the
district under the theme “Conquer Within” and she completed her tenure as the District President in 2019.

After serving the Leo Multiple District as a Coordinator and Chief Coordinator Leo Dulini was appointed
as the Multiple District Secretary in the Leoistic Year 2021/2022. She was then elected unanimously as the
Multiple District Vice President to serve in the year 2022-2023.

When looking at her personal & professional life, she is a proud product of St. Bridget’s Convent
Colombo. Completing her studies, she went on to join CFPS Law School which is an affiliated institute with the
University of London. There she completed her Diploma in Law followed by a Bachelor of Law degree
obtained in 2018. Currently, she is studying for the Attorney-At-Law examination at Sri Lanka Law College.

She has also completed her diploma in teaching from Wendy Whatmore Academy of Speech & Drama and
has been admitted as a Teaching Associate of the Academy.

Currently, she is working as a Junior Executive in the Group Company Secretarial of Hemas Holdings PLC.

Leo Dulini is the youngest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Alex Cooray. Her father was working as an
Operations Manager for Universal Resorts Group of Maldives and based in Colombo and is
currently retired. Mother is a retired English-trained teacher currently attached to Benedict
Catholic Institute in Bolawalana, Negombo. Dulini has two elder brothers.

During her Leoistic journey, she was awarded many accolades for her achievements and the Highlights have
been selected as the “Most Outstanding Club Secretary – 1st runner’s-up” and “Most Outstanding Club
President- 1st Runner’s-up” when she was the secretary & President of her club- Leo Club of Negombo
Orient. This was followed by the 100 percent Club President award which was awarded by Lions Clubs
International for her tenure as the club president.

In the year 2016/2017 she was awarded the Leo of the year award by Leo District 306B1 and was among the
top six Leos of Sri Lanka. The following year Leo Dulini was recognized as the Most outstanding Leo Scholar
of Leo District 306B1.
