Appendix – Lough Gur Stone Circle & Heritage Centre
In Lough Gur there is a Stone Circle that was built 5,000 years ago without using
any of the modern technology or tools and machines that we have today.
Through research and archaeological studies, it has been concluded that the
people living in Grange, County Limerick at the time used basic Algebra
Mathematic techniques and the work of 100 years to build the oldest and largest
Stone Circle in Ireland.
The worksheets below provided by Dr. Vincent Casey from University of Limerick
works through the process and allowing you the chance to work out how to build
the Stone Circle in Grange on your own:
Part 1 – Theory & Technology Used to Build the Stone Circle (page 55)
Part 2 – Activity (page 59)
