DEWAN PUTRA PERDANA, SEKOLAH SULTAN ALAM SHAH, PUTRAJAYA SEKOLAH SULTAN ALAM SHAH PUTRAJAYA ABOUT THE SCHOOL PROGRAMME OVERVIEW Sultan Alam Shah School or simply Alam Shah (SAS is a fully residential school situated in Putrajaya, Malaysia. Sultan Alam Shah School is one of the schools in the country awarded with the title High Performance School (Sekolah Berprestasi Tinggi) and in 2014 was entitled as one of the ten Schools of Global Excellence (SGE) (Sekolah Kecemerlangan Global) in Malaysia by the Ministry of Education due to its academic merits, brotherhood-ship of its alumnus, international recognition, broad network and vast linkages. The school is under the royal patronage of the Sultan of Selangor. This Future Leaders Programme 2023 is indeed an important initiative in our endeavour to equip our future leaders. Wisemen say — the best to predict the future is by creating it. Hence, student leadership development is pertinent to get our future leaders to be ready with qualities, values and needful skills which include self-discipline, decision-making, problem solving, communication, teamwork and planning. Dato’ Akmal Arief Mohd Fauzi Deputy Group CEO at IJN (National Heart Institute) Alumni of SAS, Batch 1983-1987 Dato’ Akmal Arief Bin Dr. Mohd Fauzi is currently the Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer of IJN Holdings Sdn Bhd and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Institut Jantung Negara Sdn Bhd (IJN). He is the Chairman, Board of Governance IJN College Sdn Bhd and also sits on the boards of IJN Capital Sdn Bhd, IJN International Sdn Bhd and IJN Foundation. Dato’ Akmal Arief has over 30 years of corporate, strategy and financial management experience and amongst his earlier positions include:- Group Chief Operating Officer of IJN, Group General Manager Corporate Development / CEO’s Office of IJN and General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Planning with the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC). Earlier, Dato’ Akmal Arief was with the Renong / UEM Group, a diversified public listed conglomerate, for 11 years where he has served in various capacities in organisations within the Group such as United Engineers (M) Berhad, Renong Berhad, HBN Management Sdn. Bhd. and Faber Medi-serve Sdn. Bhd. Prior to that he was attached to Coopers and Lybrand, an international accounting firm. THE SPEAKERS Puan Norhaizam began her career in Utusan Melayu (M) Berhad in 1996 and subsequently as a Manager of Audit and Business Assurance at PricewaterhouseCoopers from 1997 to 2007. She then joined KPJ in 2008, holding various positions in companies and hospitals within the KPJ Group until she was appointed as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2017. In recognition of her efforts while she was CFO, she was named ‘Malaysia’s Best Emerging Woman CFO in Healthcare’ at the International Finance Awards in 2022. Puan Norhaizam was a Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) Fellow. She was also a Chartered Accountant and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) UK. She started as a Treasurer of the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) before holding the position of President in the national accreditation body. She was also the Vice President of the Association Of Private Hospitals, Malaysia (APHM). Most recently, Puan Norhaizam was appointed as the Officer In Charge (OIC) of KPJ in 2022 after the departure of the President and Managing Director. As OIC, she played a pivotal role in bringing KPJ Healthcare’s first Sustainability Sukuk, an offering of RM555 million to execution, which proved to be a significant milestone for the Group as it is the first such issuance by a private healthcare provider in Malaysia and the ASEAN region. Ts. Elman Mustafa El Bakri General Manager, Group Procurement Services, KPJ Healthcare Berhad` En. Elman began his secondary education at Kolej Islam Sultan Alam Shah (KISAS) in Klang, Selangor and pursued his Matriculation study at Sekolah Menengah Sains Sultan Mahmud (SESMA) in Kuala Terengganu. En. Elman completed his Degree in Electrical, Electronics and System Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Healthcare Management from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Business School in Kuala Lumpur. En. Elman is currently a General Manager of KPJ’s Group Procurement Services, with scopes in strategic sourcing, lead category managers and e-procurement services, and groupwide procurement activities for highly specialised products and services, as well as generic ones. He is responsible for evaluating suppliers, products and services, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that approved purchases are cost-efficient and high-quality. His skills include data analytics, strategic sourcing and procurement, medical technological planning, asset management, facility audit & surveillance. He is also responsible for ensuring project success, technological planning, and deliverables in our hospitals. His adaptability, agility and responsiveness to transformational change has resulted in his career shifting from an Engineer into hospital facility planning, zoning, project management, procuring, testing, commissioning, maintaining, decommissioning, surveillance and training. His exposure includes involvement in more than 20 private hospitals’ planning, as well as project & commissioning in Malaysia, Bangladesh, Indonesia & Saudi Arabia.


THE SPEAKERS Dr. Melissa Yong Siew Sze Physician, Emergency Department, Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 Dr. Melissa completed her postgraduate degree in Emergency Medicine at University Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, and has since dedicated her career to enhancing emergency services both in government and private hospitals under the Ministry of Health Malaysia. As a board-certified emergency physician at Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2), her specialty focuses are resuscitation and stabilisation, acute medical care and emergency trauma care, and support services for various medical disciplines. En. Nabil Khairul Saleh Head of Physiotherapy Services, KPJ Rawang Specialist Hospital Chua Hui Ming Pharmacist, Group Clinical Services, KPJ Healthcare Berhad En. Nabil began his education at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Delima, Kuala Lumpur and started his secondary school at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dato' Ibrahim Yaacob, Kuala Lumpur. En. Nabil graduated with his Diploma in Physiotherapy from KPJ International College (now known as KPJ University) and completed his Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy at Mahsa University, Selangor. With a passion for sports and fitness, En. Nabil has dedicated his career towards physiotherapy, with special interests in Spinal Orthopaedic and Sports and Fitness Rehabilitation. He started his career as a Physiotherapist at KPJ Tawakkal Specialist Hospital in 2011 and was a Physiotherapist in Charge at MSU Medical Centre in 2018. He is currently the Head of Physiotherapy Services at KPJ Rawang Specialist Hospital in Selangor. Ms. Chua began her secondary education at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Aminuddin Baki, Kuala Lumpur and pursued her A-Levels at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management & Technology (TAR). Ms. Chua completed her Master’s Degree in Pharmacy (Hons) from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Pharmacy (Distinction) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Ms. Chua is a certified Nuclear Pharmacist with a Specialist Certificate in Medication Safety. She was a Board member for the Degree in Pharmacy Programme at KPJ University College (now known as KPJ University) and a Preceptor for the Ministry of Health Malaysia’s Provisionally Registered Pharmacist Liberalization Programme (PRP). Ms. Chua began her Pharmacy housemanship as a Provisionally Registered Pharmacist at Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah in Muar, Johor. She joined KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital as a Pharmacist, before becoming Chief Pharmacist at KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital in 2014. This year, she has been appointed Corporate Manager in KPJ Healthcare Berhad's Pharmacy department. He then completed his Medical Degree and Degree in Medical Science from University College Cork, Republic of Ireland, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in UNITAR International University. Dr. Syukri practiced medicine in the Republic of Ireland for 1 year before coming back to Malaysia to practice in Pusat Perubatan UKM, Kuala Lumpur, Port Dickson Hospital and with the Ministry of Health Malaysia’s Planning Department before leaving to private practice. In private practice, he has been the Chief Medical Officer of Hospital Islam Azzahrah and Megaklinik Zahran. Dr. Syukri is currently the Group Chief Executive Officer of Damansara Region for KPJ Healthcare Berhad, managing KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital (DSH) and Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2). His skills include clinical and non-clinical leadership, as well as management and administration of private hospitals. His contribution has garnered both hospitals under his care to be recognised as the Best Women’s Health in Asia Pacific (KPJ DSH) and Best New Hospital in Asia Pacific (DSH2) in 2023 by Global Health Asia Pacific. SPEAKERS FOR CONCURRENT SESSIONS Mr. Sarly Adle Sarkum President & Chief Operating Officer (Honda Malaysia) Sarly Adle Sarkum is an alumni of SAS, batch 91-95 . He was the President of SAS Art Club. He is now the President, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Board Member of Honda Malaysia since June 2019. Graduated from University Tenaga Nasional in 2002 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, he started his career in plastics and automotive engineering early in his final year when he apprenticed in EP Polymer. He started his formative career years in 2004 with Demag Malaysia, a German based injection moulding machine manufacturer as an application project engineer before joining the DRB-HICOM subsidiary of HICOM-Teck See Manufacturing in 2007. Working his way up in the group, he was made Chief Operating Officer of the joint venture motorcycle engine plant, HICOM-Honda Manufacturing in 2014. In 2017, he was assigned as the Chief Operating Officer of Pos Aviation, an aviation services company that focuses on cargo, ground handling, in-flight catering, engineering and freighter operations. Sarly also sits as the Vice President of Manufacturing in the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA). Aziph Mustapha is the Head of Culture and Engagement at CelcomDigi, Malaysia’s leading telecommunications group. His ability to tell a meaningful and memorable story to any crowd has led him to be invited to deliver keynotes in more than 15 countries, including two TEDx talks. Aziph is a 25 year veteran of the corporate world in various industries. He started as an entry level bank employee and rose to become the CEO of a federal agency developing grassroots innovation, starting up a number of companies in IT and education along the way. AZIPH MUSTAPHA Dr. Nurleyana is an advertising design lecturer at the Faculty of Creative Multimedia, Multimedia University (MMU). She holds a PhD in Media and Communication from RMIT University, Australia, where her research focused on the application of augmented reality (AR) technology in marketing communications. She also earned a Master's degree in Corporate Communication from UPM and a Bachelor's degree in Multimedia (Media Innovation) from MMU. Dr. Nurleyana's expertise lies in the integration of technology and design in the commercial context, with a particular interest in exploring innovative art forms and their intersection with AR. DR. SPEAKERS FOR CONCURRENT SESSIONS Redefining Professional Accountancy Airil Razali is a qualified Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and a member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). He was amongst the earliest pupils to pursue the ICAEW qualification via the Certificate Finance Accounting and Business (CFAB) pathway. After graduating, he was attached to the EY Assurance Team, where he was involved in various industries such as property development, manufacturing, hotel and tourism and oil and gas. Subsequently, he joined PWC where he worked specifically under Due Diligence for Mergers and Acquisition transactions. He was involved in numerous cross-border transactions worth more than USD$1bil focusing in East Asia and India. Upon leaving PWC in 2017, Airil established an Accounting and Advisory firm with a Partner in Singapore called Equilibro Pte. Ltd. During this time, he also assisted IPAC Education in forming their Professional Accountancy Centre. He assisted the Management of IPAC to set up ICAEW courses by liaising with regulators such as the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and Malaysian Qualifying Agency (MQA). He also engaged with various stakeholders as a Liaison Director to build pipelines for graduating students to be absorbed into the industry. AIRIL RAZALI Wan Rushaidi Razak is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Assuring . He has vast experience in data analytics and assurance advisory with a forte to elevate technology skillset for Audit & Risk practitioners. His started his career with the Big-4 Accounting Firm and later served in the Internal Audit of a national telecommunication provider in Malaysia. He had rich experience in the planning, execution, and reviewing of various business processes, focusing on the IT processes and controls of the company’s critical systems. Later, he gained experience as an SAP FICO Consultant ans subsequently joined Oil & Gas industry to complete his forte of understanding the various needs of data mining and analytics. With his vast knowledge in ACL Software, Wan has conducted numerous ACL Certified courses from foundation level up to advanced scripting level for various organizations in Malaysia, Asia Pacific, and UAE. He has also been actively involved in providing solutions for ACL GRC, an Audit Management System by ACL Software to clients in Malaysia & Indonesia. WAN RUSHAIDI RAZAK Wan Muhammad Al Amin is the Director for Audit and Assurance Department at Kuala Lumpur Office. He has more than 12 years’ experience in statutory audit and advisory. Amin manages a portfolio of various clients including construction, manufacturing, plantation, technology and others. He graduated from University of Malaya (UM) with a Degree in Accountancy. Amin is a member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) ACCA and Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). Amin also heads the Firm’s Training & Research and IT Audit Committee.
