CHILDREN’S CENTRE PROGRESS

Another month has passed. The builders are still working hard and we are busy with the paperwork needed to open, following the strict

guidelines set by Barnardo’s.
We have produced a questionnaire to find out which services will be of interest to parents, from the following list:

Information on/for: Adult health and lifestyles, Baby and child health, Baby and childhood behavioural development;
Counselling, Courses for parents, Parents wanting to return to work, Becoming a volunteer then

Support for: Volunteers, Breastfeeding, Antenatal and post natal times, Families.

Activities like: Play sessions, Toy Library, Family Fun Days. Parent groups

We hope parents, especially of the under 5s, will pop in and make use of our services.
We will be working in partnership with:
Aspatria Community Childcare, providing childcare when parents are busy on the various courses to be offered.
Beacon Hill Community School, where some of the courses will be accommodated, like the cookery course set up for February.
Jobcentre Plus, to advise parents of any job opportunities.
Also Health Visitors/Workers are part of our plan, with other services still to be arranged.

As well as Aspatria, there will be other children’s centres in Silloth and Wigton, providing information and opportunities for
families in the town as well as in the surrounding rural areas.

I look forward to being back in the building, with my colleague Hannah Davison, Local Service Co-ordinator.
If you would like to complete a questionnaire or would like any further information please do not hesitate to call 016973 7174.

Jennifer Lunney.
