How rainbows are formed
Rainbows are formed
when light from the
sun is scattered by
water droplets (e.g.
raindrops or fog)
through a process
called refraction.
How can we see a rainbow
They are reflected from the back
surface of the raindrop, and refracted
again as they exit the raindrop and
return to our eyes.
When can we see a rainbow?
We see rainbow in the sky
only after rainfall due to
dispersion of sunlight by
the tiny water droplets of
rain present in the
atmosphere.
