ABOUT Anjung Ahli ICOMOS Malaysia
ICOMOS MALAYSIA 40 members
ICOMOS Malaysia forms part of the ICOMOS ICOMOS Malaysia
international network of multi-disciplinary 1,320 followers

exchange, nationally and internationally, on matters

groups of buildings, and sites. The ICOMOS Malaysia
National Committee represents ICOMOS’ interests
at the national level, and our members’ views within
the international network.
ICOMOS Malaysia is a channel through which local
individual specialists could take part in ICOMOS’
international activities including, for example,
specific missions entrusted to ICOMOS by UNESCO.
Our remit is to:
• Provide a forum for those involved in the
conservation of cultural heritage in Malaysia
• Encourage contact between heritage and
conservation professionals on specialist and
general issues
• Work for higher standards in the conservation
of cultural heritage
• Play a leading role in implementing the World
Heritage Convention within Malaysia and in
promoting best practice in managing Malaysia’s
World Heritage Sites
• Provide links with the international network of
ICOMOS members
• Promote international best practice through
events, seminars and publications while
encouraging a wide understanding of the scope
and value of cultural heritage

The objectives of the ICOMOS MALAYSIA
Training Committee (CIF MALAYSIA) is to
promote cooperation in the field of training and
education in the protection, conservation and
revitalization of monuments and sites, and the
built heritage in general, in order to advance
greater understanding in the recognition of such
heritage, technology, management, and doctrine,
and to advise on the development of ICOMOS
programs in this field.
CIF MALAYSIA is collaborating with ARCHIDEX
2021 as a supporting organisation to accomplish
its objectives by organising webinars and forums
for the interchange of experience, ideas and
knowledge in heritage conservation in Malaysia.

Charter, ICTC MALAYSIA is collaborating with
Ministry of Tourism Arts & Culture and ICTC to
organise an online Cultural Tourism Symposium
(Nov 2021) where the themes will be based on
the principles in the Charter, delivered by ICTC
members from around the world. To further
advocate the use of the Charter, ICTC MALAYSIA
has also assisted Melaka World Heritage Office to
develop the Terms of Reference for the Melaka
Cultural Tourism Plan. Sharing of experience
and expertise amongst members of the network
include a number of proposed programmes such
as Cultural mapping of Bandar Penggaram, Batu
Pahat in collaboration with the ISCES MALAYSIA
(Economics of Conservation); and engagement
with community organisation of Kampung Lee
Kong Chian to assist in the development of their
