Harley laughed at Lilly's hasty actions. "Don't rush it out, Lilly. The blueberries aren't moving anywhere!" Soon, the twins walked out to the garden across their treehouse. They had to take the road to get to the other side since they couldn't fly yet like an adult fairy would normally do. So they walked side by side crossing the road while carrying their baskets happily. "Kids, move out of the way! I'm late!" They heard a shout towards them. It was Suzy, the Clumsy Fairy who was always late to work. Harley quickly pulled Lilly to the edge of the road so that they wouldn't collide. Suzy passed by them without even glancing at them. "I'm late today! I'm so late!" Was all that the twins could hear before Suzy ghostly disappeared from their sights with trails of shiny dust left behind. "What a mess. Look at you, Lilly! You're covered in Suzy's dust!" "Take a look at yourself, idiot. You're no different than I am!" They both laughed seeing each other covered in sparkling blue particles dusted by Suzy's wings. They brushed off the dust from themselves before continuing on their journey. "I wonder what she was late for this time," wondered Lilly while walking. It wasn't the first time they had seen the Clumsy Fairy rushing somewhere. She was always rushing everywhere! "No idea. It's a pity her blue wings don't match her discipline." Harley replied to his sister. Blue winged fairies were the fastest among all types of fairies in the Ho Ho Land. Alas, Suzy never seemed to be quick enough for anything. It was quite a wonder for the people in the town. They reached the blueberry garden after a few minutes. They -- Lilly especially -- were looking forward to plucking out ripe blueberries until it was found that the garden was muddy due to the rain a week before. Lilly was stunned, later in despair while looking at the situation in front of them. It's muddy! How can we ever pick out those ripe blueberries in this muddle?" Lilly complained to Harley. What were they to do in a blueberry garden covered in mud? Karya bahasa Inggeris A Trip to the Blueberry Garden (Written by: Nuri Sufia Binti Zaili from 5 Elit) "Harley, come out! Look at this heavenly weather!" Lilly called her twin excitedly. The sun was out that day, brightening up the weather of the Ho Ho Land after a week full of rain. It was a very cold week, and everyone in the town had to stay indoors for warmth. "Yes, it's a lovely weather," A boy with wings appeared beside her. It was Harley, Lilly's twin brother. They barely looked the same, but they both have indistinguishable pretty crystal wings. They were the Crystal Twin Fairies. "Let's go and pick out some blueberries. We'll make it into a scrumptious spread!" Lilly suggested to Harley. She knew how much Harley despised being under the sun for too long. She really loved to tease her twin! Harley frowned at Lilly's suggestion, he knew Lilly was trying to annoy him. As much as he wanted to decline, he gave up the thought of doing so. He would rather go along with her rather than escaping Lilly's persistent pleads! "Alright, I'll go with you," Harley said with a defeated sigh. Lilly gave a delightful squeal before running right back into their treehouse to grab two baskets to fill with blueberries.
But Harley wasn't listening. He had spotted a trace of footprints on top of the mud. Someone must have been walking on it! "Lilly, look! There are footprints on the mud. Whatever could they be?" Harley pointed to the odd shaped prints on the mud. "I have never seen such footprints!" "Neither have I. I say, what's that sound?" A strange growl could be heard coming from the bushes behind them. Without hesitation, Harley approached the rustling bushes and discovered the noise maker. Lilly gasped once she identified the strange creature. The strange creature was a magic cat named Rocky. Rocky belonged to Dame Rosy, the infamous magical healer in Ho Ho Land. The cat had its paws deeply buried under thick mud and found no way to unstuck itself. Now, you might think magic cats are similar to ordinary cats. But magic cats were different from ordinary ones. Instead of a single cat tail, magic cats have a pair of them! They barely have whiskers too, and if they had them it's very, very short you almost can't see them. "Meow! Help me, I'm stuck!" Rocky cried to the twins. The cat's body was very dirty, the once great white fur was now smudged with dirt. Rocky smelled awful too as he had been stuck there for half a day. The twins wasted no time to help out the poor cat. It was quite a struggle pulling Rocky out of the thick mud. Oddly enough, whenever they try to disinter into the mud to release Rocky's paws, the mud seemed to harden! It was really odd. "Dear me, what's wrong with the mud?" Harley was puzzled. This was not something natural at all. Suddenly, Lilly thought of something. "Perhaps you've done any magic on the mud, Rocky? No way these muds harden up so fast, especially whenever we dig it up to unstuck your paws." "Now that you say it, I think I may have did," said the magic cat. "Twin fairies, you might need to close your eyes. I'm afraid my spells to undone the magic might blind you." Harley and Lilly did as Rocky instructed. Though they couldn't see what happened, they could tell that the spell was so blinding even for anyone who was closing their eyes. After a moment filled with chants, Rocky finally spoke up to them. "There, I think the magic should've been lifted by now. Can you try pull me from this muddle again?" Finally, the cat was free. The mud became soft enough for the fairies to release the Rocky. Rocky meowed happily after hours having his paws trapped in the nasty mud. "Thank you, Crystal Twin Fairies. If it weren't for your help, I might not be able to go home before sunset. You both look so dirty because of me." "No problem, Rocky," grinned Lilly. "How did you get stuck here in the first place? I'm curious." "Yeah, I'm curious too. What happened?" Harley asked. "Meow! That is no business of yours. Don't question the things a cat would do," replied Rocky. Rocky seemed to appear upset when the twins asked the question. I suppose no one shall ever know how Rocky got himself trapped in the mud! "Let's all get home and wash ourselves. Aren't we really dirty? My master will definitely scold me for coming back home covered with dirt!" "You're right. I don't like being dirty myself. But Harley does." "Hey, that's not true!" ✿✿✿ Lilly and Harley finally returned home. It was already dusk when they arrived at their treehouse. They had dropped by the Dame Rosy's cottage to return Rocky the magic cat to it's owner. The old lady was suprised to see the kids and her cat was so dirty but nonetheless, she still thanked them for saving her cat. As a return, Dame Rosy gifted the Crystal Twin Fairies jars of her delicious homemade blueberry spread. How the kids were so pleased to receive them! "I guess we don't have to pick out those blueberries anymore since we have these given to us," Harley happily said. He was relieved that they didn't have to go out to the blueberry garden now that they have the jams given to them. He didn't really enjoy being in the mud. But oh, he was wrong to think that way. Lilly took him out to the muddy garden again the very next day. "We didn't pick any blueberries yesterday," told Lilly. "I would love to make my own blueberry spread too, so please bear with me right here!" So poor Harley had to accompany his twin sister to the garden again! He was sulky the whole day with Lilly. At least it was worth it to tag along with his sister to the garden because oh my, Lilly's homemade blueberry jam was even better than Dame Rosy's! "I guess your delicious jam makes up for bringing me to the garden again," Harley said to the mischievous Lilly. "But I won't do you any favours like this again!"
Liberty. What does this word actually mean? Does it really have meaning? Many of us associate the word ‘liberty’ with patriotic events such as Merdeka but it is actually more than that. Liberty is a synonym to the word ‘freedom’. To choose what we want, can't and won't do. It gives us the power and will to choose our own path in this life journey of ours. We shouldn’t always be stuck with strings and commitment in our daily lives. Although these attachments are vital to improve and become a better version of ourselves, we should not let the system ‘enslave’ us with the cruel and harsh conditions that are given. As we comply to growth, there are many aspects of liberty we can dive into. Life is never easy. Life can throw rocks and stones at you but you should never give up. Life can never always be joy and laughter. Endless obstacles of life await us in this journey of growth. We should be able to use liberty to tackle these obstacles that come upon us. Being an adolescence, I experience many day-to-day hardships. I am often held down by society in playing my part as a teenager. I felt scared. I was worried of the future that awaits me. I didn’t want to grow up and become an adult. I wanted freedom. Liberty played a key part in helping me grow as a teen. It teaches me the will to do the things I wanted to try, the things I wanted to learn. It really helped me soothe the worry of transitioning into an adult. In addition to that, as a teenager, we should be free to set up goals that are achievable and realistic. Parents may hinder our progress and expect too much of us. Although they want the best for us, we should not let them choose our life journey. We should be able to choose what we want to be in accordance with the talent and burning passion of ours. By that, it does not mean that we are stubborn. It is just us being ourselves finding what we do best. So, it is okay to set up a goal that is slightly off the expectations of our parents. We are still young and there are dozens of opportunities everywhere. In conjunction with liberty, we should always be able to speak freely. Although we should listen to the opinions of others, we should not let those opinions shut our voices even if they are the contrary of theirs. As a growing teen, I often experience the situation of having to be silent in an argument. I didn’t have the courage to speak up and voice myself. I was scared of the eyes that would judge me. Hence, courage and strength are needed to speak about what is true. Nobody is going to speak out for you when you need it. If you don’t speak up the thoughts and opinions will just be buried in your head. Speak and voice out your opinions as long as they do not contain prejudice or racist remarks. Always voice out when you feel the need to. Moreover, liberty teaches us to be rational. We should be able to think and act based on what's right and what's wrong. Even in today's society people often don’t think twice and rush their decision. More often than not, their impatience would lead them to rush. Being able to apply liberty in your lives will improve your decision-making skills through being able to think and act freely based on the situation. As growing teens, we will always be hit with decisions that would alter the course of our lives. Be confident with the choice you make. Be trustful of your instincts. Be ready. Go with the flow. Although the choices you make will not always be the right call, think of them as an experience that you can learn and apply in the future. Take the positives of a negative decision. Maturity will come at an age where you are self-aware of the actions you take. Liberty in this aspect does not only comply to being free, but it can also help us to reason our choices. Hence, I think applying the concept of liberty in our daily lives will ultimately help us in becoming a rational person. Liberty is Growth (Written by: Vincent Kay Kim Seng from 5 Elit)
In contrast to that, overusing the term ‘freedom’ in our lives has its cons especially in teenagers. We often love to be free. We don’t want to be in the shell of someone. We want to roam around freely like the birds in the sky. However, these can lead us to be rebellious and disobey our parents. We skip school, break rules and even be rude. We basically become brats and trash of society. As growing teens, we must be able to control ourselves. It is great to have freedom but always remember to have restrictions. Obey and follow the guidance of others that are more experienced and knowledgeable. Don’t try to think that we are better than them. Humble yourself. Hence, why I think we should not overuse the term ‘freedom’. On the other hand, I believe that as growing teens, we should be educated to freely use the word ‘liberty. This is because if we use liberty without knowing the right use of the gift, it will in all probability be misused. Just as a gorilla handling a knife would most likely stab itself while a man knows how to correctly use it to his advantage without harming himself. In the same instance, liberty should be used with respect and knowledge. Simply being ‘free’ without the knowledge of liberty will ultimately be the downfall of us. Every individual has the liberty to do, to say and behave as he/she wants. Liberty is the gift meant for people who know how far to take the liberty and when to stop using it and, above all how to use their liberty. To use liberty to our advantage is up to the society which adores and wants it. I hope all may be wary of the use of liberty. May we find growth in the end of the day. As we all know, liberty is growth.
Everybody in the world holds something of preciousness which only they alone can see. From family relationships to objects of meaning, one would not be considered truly human without the blessing and curse of determining things of value. I will speak of some examples and effects these connections may have. First and foremost, perhaps the most common of these cases are the relationships between friends and family. The reason why it is important to surround yourself with them is so you may receive support and comfort as well as relieve stress in the lowest moments of your life. But in the case of having bad friends and family, it may lead to the opposite effect. It is commonly known that one takes in the views and personalities of others and thus moulding oneself to best suit their environment, making it a wise choice to surround yourself with good and competent friends, encouraging the black sheep within you to improve and strive for greatness. But once the bond between them is formed, they will stand together as one. A wise man once said, greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his comrades. Besides that, pets are another thing which people hold dear to. While most would think of it as a hassle to take care of a pet, there are many benefits to owning them, which include the management of the owner’s mental health, the steady developing of social skills, the increase in confidence, reducing stress, anxiety, depression, easing loneliness, encouraging exercise and playfulness and many more. Cats and dogs are prime examples of household pets that provide these exact benefits. However, these benefits come with the eventual price of the pet dying to disease or age and thus causing the owner to be deeply saddened. The effects of the death of a beloved pet comes in stages, denial, anger, guilt and finally depression. Do not be sad that it is gone, be happy that it happened. Last but not least, the keeping of items of emotional value can also lead to emotional development. From the mundane couch you lived with since your childhood, to the family heirloom of an ancestor’s great achievements. Sometimes we simply don't wish to throw out things because of the guilt of the riddance of an element of our childhood or memory of a great ancestor. We recall and reminisce the pleasant memories of pieces of our past, thus increasing the sentimental thoughts when faced with the decision of throwing them out. There are even those who are clingy to the point of having filthy homes filled with useless junk called hoarders. The burning of the old is required to build upon the greater new. In conclusion, be careful of what you treasure, do not allow it to blindly lead you to your end. Practice caution in how you value the preciousness of everything around you.
