Hebrew Year 1
We have had a great start to the year. Students came to school
ready and enthusiastic to learn a new language. Students have
learned how to greet their friends and say good morning.
Through physical movements and dance, students are learning
body parts such as head, arms, legs, stomach, eyes, ears and
other parts of the body. Singing songs is a daily part of each
lesson and students learn a lot of new vocabulary through acting
out their favorite songs. Throughout the unit, students will be
learning basic vocabulary and language structures that will allow
them to communicate information about their daily lives and
surroundings. These include colors, numbers, feelings (happy,
sad, angry, tired, and others), clothing and weather. Teachers
read authentic Israeli picture books with rich language and
illustrations to help students learn new vocabulary and relate to
their new language.
Hebrew Year 2
We started off the year refreshing what students learned last
year. Students had the chance to read and write their name and
use basic vocabulary and language structures to introduce
themselves to the class. Then we transitioned into our first unit,
“Night and Evening Routines at Home.” Students will be learning
how to describe what they do in the evening and at night at home
and compare their routines to their classmates. Using new and
learned language and vocabulary, students will describe their
dreams orally and in writing. Teachers will begin teaching
reading, including decoding skills and comprehension. A variety of
songs, lullaby’s, texts and videos will serve as inspiration for
discussion and writing. Throughout the unit students will use
vocabulary learned in year 1 and widen their knowledge of basic
language such as food, weather, colors, numbers, rooms in the
house and objects in the house and clothing.
