History of the plane:
The plane was created for the Iranian Air Force as part of the “Peace Zebra” deal but due to the regime change
in Iran and due to the return of Khomeini to lead the deal was frozen and finally transferred to the Israeli Air
Force on 19/8/1980 as part of the “Peace Marbel 1” deal. The plane was arrived to the Squadron 117 in “Ramat
David” air base and got the name "Shavit" which was painted on its tail. The plane took parts in the “first
Lebanon War” and after was transferred to the 253 squadron. When it 253 squadron was closed he was
transferred to the 116 Squadron. In March 2018 he was taken apart to the “Uvda” sir base.
Shutdown enemy aircraft:
On 10/6/1982 Rafi Berkowitz shutdown two Syrian MiG-23s. One with a “Lulav” missile and the other with a
cannon. At the same day, Rafi Berkowitz also shutdown a Syrian MiG-21 with a cannon.
