Gala was, surprise, surprise, done on the last day, and if I
might say so, it was wonderfully put on: Decorations were
abundant, and it was obvious that a lot of hard work had
gone into making sure that the whole night ran as smoothly
as possible. Never have I been so well taken care of by the wait
staff, and it was such a joy to sit and soak up all of the energy
coming from others who were just as thrilled to be there as I
was. It was fun to watch the videos that USEF had made for
each of the nominees for the overall USEF Horse of the Year
award, and it was thrilling to see which of the horses took
home top honors. My trip was finished with this beautiful
gathering to celebrate the achievements of fellow horse-lovers
along with the achievements of their horses, and I would not
have wanted it any other way. Q AM

Editor’s Note: Meagan Hansen, the IALHA’s 2013 nominee for
the USEF Youth Sportsman of the Year award, traveled to
Lexington, Ky., in January to take part in the USEF Annual
Meeting as well as attend the first quarter meeting of the IALHA
Board of Directors. We asked her to share her experiences.

We got to go on a horse-drawn trolly ride, pulled by these two handsome horses.

Corrections to National Show Results 42-43 Adalid U.S., Ltd.
from 2013 Issue 3 of Andalusian 50 Andaluz
39 Cavalo Real Lusitanos
It has come to our attention Cheri Prill Photography & Design
that there were numerous 33, 50 Fhoenix Soft Tree Saddles
errors in the results from the 51 G Andalusians
2013 National Championship 50 Glen Aryn Farm
show as printed in the IALHA 50 Gloriosa Farms
magazine. We deeply regret 50 Haras Dos Cavaleiros
this. We have gone through Hidden Pond Farm
and compared the results 5, 28-29 La Tienda Española
printed in the magazine to the 41 Legacy Farms
official results available on the 50 Lusitano Northwest
USEF.org website and have 1 Mariah Andalusians
made note of every inconsis- 7 Musa Lusitana
tency. With one exception, all Oak Song Farm
the horses and places reported 34-35 Old Stonehouse Farm
in the results tables matched. 50 Peet Equestrian
The one exception is that 17 Pixelliste
Celine LHR, ridden by April 46 Promise Farm
Lewis and owned by Sharon A. Lee, should have been listed as National Champion in 50 Rancho del Lago
the Half-Andalusian Costume class. 51 Rancho Godinez
In addition, the article misidentified the Purebred Versatility Champion. It should 40 Rivera’s Andalusian Farm
read RA Dulcineya, owned by Kimberly Ann David and shown by Keegan O'Brien 51 Rothrock Andalusians
and Howard Peet. Also, in the article, the handlers/riders for Brillante RDL were mis- 21 Santa Rosa Equestrian Center
attributed. It should have read Kystalynn Young and Michael Vermaas. C4 Saul’s Andalusians
The other discrepancies were slight variations in riders’/owners’/horses’ names, like- C2 Scarlett Gauthier
ly caused by differences between how the entry forms were filled out for the show and C3 Shining Mountains Farm
how the horses are officially registered with USEF. In particular, we found that horses Sommer Ranch
owned by more than one person presented a challenge for the software used by our 22-23 Tally Ho Farm
show secretary, producing some rather interesting-looking names indeed! 13 The Iberian Connection
The photographer supplied us with some, but not all, of the champion photos 11 There Be Dragons Farm
from the show, identifying each photo with the number of the class for each photo 51 Twin Creeks Ranch
that she had in her records as the official winner of the class. We regret that the photo 31 Viva Iberica
attributed to Anna-Leigh London’s lovely Solana, who won Class #80, Andalusian 51 Waller Farms
Western Pleasure, was actually a photo of the Reserve Champion for that class, Joyante 51 Xavier Farms
H, ridden by Rachel LeDoux. Joyante’s photo was correctly supplied for the two other 51
National Championship titles she received: Andalusian Country English Pleasure, 45
Amateur and Andalusian Western Pleasure – Vintage Riders. 47
Again, we would like to express our sincere regrets for the errors and encourage
our members to check the USEF.org website for official 2013 National Show C1, 2-3
Results. Q AM
