Faith- this is what the people had in the book because they were

Gesture- chillingworth did a gesture at the beginning of the
book, telling hester not to say a word.

Iniquitous- Hester was sinful and Pearl was evil

Jealous- Roger was jealous that Hester liked another guy.

Kill- Chillingworth tried to slowly kill Dimmesdale while they were living
together.

Love- Hester had love for Pearl and for Dimmesdale.

Malicious- Pearl is sometimes malicious because the activities
she does are evil and strange.

Needle- Hester designed clothes using needle-work and lots of townspeople
bought them from her.

Ornateness- When hester was put on the scaffold, people only
noticed the ornateness of the letter “A” on her bosom.

People- The people in the town at first did not like hester and
thought poorly of her.

Quiet- Dimmesdale did not tell anyone that he was the father
of pearl and was quiet about it.

River- when pearl, hester, and dimmesdale were in the woods,
pearl washed dimmesdale’s kiss away in the river.

Sin- Hester made a sin by committing adultery.

Taunt- The townspeople taunted hester while she was standing
on the scaffold.

Unite- Hester, Pearl, and dimmesdale united on the scaffold
one night.

Violent- Pearl was violent towards other kids.

Wilson- Reverend wilson makes a condemnatory sermon about
hester’s scarlet letter.

Xenophobia- Pearl is shy and fears strangers at first and also
had hatred for some.

Yarn- Hester liked to do needle-work and used yarn to help make
clothes.

Zeal- The townspeople had a zeal for their faith.
