LCM - Christ Centre Lutheran Church 6 th Annual General Meeting 2023 ROS No. PPM-001-10-09031964-000066 CHAIRMAN’S REPORT – Christ Centre Lutheran Church 6 th AGM 16th APRIL 2023 Greetings Ladies & Gentlemen, Members & fellow Officers, I would like to welcome you all here to the 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Christ Centre Lutheran Church (CCLC). Thanks be to the Lord as we move on to our 7th year together as a church and our 6th AGM and also the members for upholding us this past year, which has been an eventful and tough year in terms of raising the necessary funding and getting the café project in the cubicle up and running. A total of 10 potential café operators were invited but the take up is still elusive. We were saddened that our founding worker-in-charge, Rev Chan Mun Kwan decided to retire in Dec 2021 after 4.5 years of service with Christ Center Lutheran Church (CCLC). We are lucky to have a new worker-incharge Rev Alvin Tan, ordained on 30th Oct 2022. The Pastoral team volunteered their time to support the BAC&IACT student community, and have its best interests atthe heart of everything besidestheir usual daily routine. We have witnessed that CCLC experienced improvements and successin obtaining the rights to run Level 1 of Luther Center and commitment from its members to serve in various ministries. However, despite all else, we incrementally inched forward CCLC’s total membership count from 41 to 45 in 2021 and 45 to 50 in 2022. William Yap Khin Hoe was baptized in CCLC during 2022. We also witnessed Bro Saw Yung Sheng, Sis Irene Woon Oi Yee and Sis Asthie Wong Sheu Tying’s memberships being transferred to CCLC. Sis Janna Lee Wei Ann’s membership will be transferred to CCLC on 09th April 2023, Easter day. May the Lord be praised! As He grows this congregation, we give thanks that He gives us the opportunity to be involved in His work in CCLC. During this difficult time, we have continued to work hard. Praise the Lord an agreement was signed on the 25th Nov 2022 between LCM Head office and CCLC where we have taken the responsibility for maintaining the assets in Level 1 of Luther Center with effect from the 01st Jan 2023. We have successfully renovated the office and moved down CCLC’s office to Level 1. CCLC had a successful full year working together with a huge amount of background activity. We are also proud to announce that CCLC have submitted our formal application to LCM Head office for CCLC to be an organized congregation. We remain active on many fronts and for a church with a relatively small membership, I feel we punched well above our weight. In summarising our years’ work, I would highlight the main aspect that we have continued from 2021, is the promotion of the overall community work and raising CCLC’s profile within the broader community. Ifeelwe have achieved some level of success with projects undertaken throughout the year. We maintained and reinforced our links with the background and physical work undertaken with the BAC & IACT college students via CCLC’s Campus Ministry. 9
LCM - Christ Centre Lutheran Church 6 th Annual General Meeting 2023 ROS No. PPM-001-10-09031964-000066 Events to promote community services in 2023 moving forward includes; • Cleaning up for a nearby Taman (concept - taking care of what God has given to all of us). • Blood donation drives (bi-annually in collaboration with LCM Head office). • Special ministries – women’s fellowship, men’s fellowship and senior citizen’s fellowship. • Establish counselling sessions for women, men and senior citizen ministries. • Cell groupsfor CCLC Adults Ministry (weekly; rotating between Cheras & Petaling Jaya locations). • Collaboration with El Shaddai Learning Centre for English classes to connect with foreign international students from University Malaya (UM). We have had considerable physical success and achievements, through our work that included but were not limited to the following projects. • Rumah Love & Care Elderly Home, Kajang on the 24th Sept 2022 • Kaizen Children Home at Semenyih. • Orang asli support We have continued our work in the community both independently and as a church throughout 2022 and these includes; • Continued support of the CCLC’s Youth & Young Adults Ministry. • Expand and increase on CCLC’s Adults Ministry activities. Of paramount importance is to continue to maintain and where possible increase the profile of the CCLC in our surrounding community. In addition, I would like to see further progress made in respect of the following. • Consolidate and increase the Christ Center Lutheran Church’s activemembership “existing members plus one” concept. • Upgrade & maintenance works on the Level 1 to be continued in a timely manner. • Fundraising programme(s) to be developed. Ideas are needed. • Council members and / or office bearers to follow up and execute matters discussed with the action plans agreed and developing community spirit. We are always looking for help and I would ask everyone in CCLC to get involved, by joining one of the subcommittees or simply volunteering your time. As a community church we meet monthly, with only 10 meetings held every year for 2 to 2.5 hours. Everyone here has special skills and talents that can be brought to the activities to improve and develop the activities. I firmly believe that we need to continue to widen the mix of our membership to reach all areas of our community that may not currently be represented. I hope the nominated council members will be the start of this process. To be healthy and robust we need a constant flow of new members. The Council existsfor its membersso I would encourage all of you to express yourselves – you might like to comment on the way the council is run, the content of our activities and programme, things you would like us to do in the future, lines of communication or indeed anything material to the Council. Please let us know your ideas and/ or comments. 2022 did end with a small shortfall of RM411.23, which is under control (please see the Treasurer’s Report for complete details of our financial picture.) 1010

LCM - Christ Centre Lutheran Church 6 th Annual General Meeting 2023 ROS No. PPM-001-10-09031964-000066 Pastoral Report – LCM CCLC’s 6th Annual General Meeting 2023 Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Time flies! This year we will be celebrating the 6th anniversary of our church since its establishment in 2017. As we reflect on the uncountable hurdles and challengers we faced over the years, especially the two difficult years in the pandemic, we can’t help but to give thanks and praise to our God for His everlasting goodness and grace upon CCLC. I couldn’t have imagined how much harder it will be if it wasn’t because of His guidance and provision. A big thank you to the Lord for granting us the wisdom and strength in doing the ministries that He has entrusted us while waiting for His return! In this new year 2023, we will be continuing our journey under the theme “Unity in Christ, Together we serve”. As Paul says in Romans 12: 9-13, “9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” It is sad to learn that these words from Paul have never been more relatable in the world we are living today. As the world grows older, it turns colder. Genuine love & care were often the missing pieces in one’s life. Hence, as God’s people in this generation, it is vital for us to live out the marks of a true Christian – that is to bring forth the love and joy the Lord has given each of us. May we be a good example to the communities around us and cultivate a culture that is caring and loving in our church. Let us love and serve the Lord with all our hearts, soul, mind, and strength. All glory be to God forever and ever! The following is my report for the year 2022. 1. CCLC Worship Service a. As we have gradually moved into post-pandemic times, we have ceased our livestream services on our media platforms (Facebook and YouTube) to encourage members to return to physical worship. The church believes in the importance of fellowship and interactions in communal worship. b. We praise and thank the Lord that they were new visitors joining us for our Sunday worship over past 1 year. Some of the new visitors were walked-in and some were invited by our own members. While prayers and spiritual growth are important, we must not ignore the need to evangelize and reach out to others who yet to know Christ. Hence, for the coming year I would like to challenge all members to make it a point to bring at least 1 new friend/family member to church each month. c. In July 2022, we have launched an after-service lunch fellowship every first week of the month. The initiation of the lunch fellowship is to encourage fellowship and interactions among members. We are not doing it every week is because we do not want to burden the members too much on preparing the food. Special thanks to those who have contributed to the lunch fellowship. 2. CCLC Mid-Week Online Prayer Meeting a. The Mid- week online prayer meeting is held on every 2nd & 4th Wednesday through Zoom at 8:30pm. In our prayer meeting, we prayed for the church, the country, and the world. Testimonies sharing and prayer requests are always welcomed. 12

On the 3rd of September 2022, a group of our young adults participated in the community service project at Kaizen Children Home at Semenyih. It was an eye- opening experience for some as it was their first-time doing volunteering cleaning work for a children home. Besides from cleaning, we had a fun games time with the kids at the home. The event ended with a prayer time and a lunch fellowship. e. On the 26th of November 2022 (Sat), 8 young adults from our CG participated in the B.O.S.S. Day – An LCM National Young Adult Ministry event. This one-day event was held at Escape Park, PJ (Morning) and Luther Centre PJ (Evening). There were altogether 15 LCM congregations with 50 young adults participated in the event. Among the activities on that day were Team Building Games, a Fellowship Session, Table Talk & Discussion, and a Barbeque Dinner. Through this event, we have a better understanding on the issues the young adults are facing and work towards providing them relevant support in their faith and ministry. f. On the 31st of December 2022, the E-lite Young People cell group celebrated the annual Christmas & New Year’s Eve Party in church at 6pm. A total of 19 young adults attended the party with 6 new friends. The event ended at 12:30am after the countdown and fireworks display. g. The CG now meets regularly for fellowship and lunch after church service every Sunday. The CG’s current focuses are fellowship bonding and discipleship. We seek to encourage our Youths & Young Adults to think about life questions and help them to overcome their challengers in the studies and work. The church plays a huge role in guiding them as many are struggling with peer pressure, stress and looking for relevance in life. 5. CCLC Campus Ministry a. The IACT college Christian fellowship currently held their CF meetings every Monday at 5:30pm - 7:30pm at Faith Hall 2, Level 1, Luther Centre. Occasionally, I am invited to preach and participate in their meetings and events. We pray that through this partnership it will allow us to “build a bridge” to reach out to the students in the college next door. The CF size is about 20 students. b. Moving forward, we will be working with Elshaddai Learning Centre to connect with the international students from University Malaya (UM). For the start, we have planned to run a English class at Luther Centre on every Thursday evening at 4pm to 5.30pm. 13

He mentioned that, many times, churches and NGOs only donate daily need items and money, but not coming over for cleaning work and fellowshipping with the elderly folks. I believe that God will lead us to greater heights. God’s peace and blessing be with all. “Unity in Christ, Together we Serve” CCLC Church Theme 2022-2025 Report Prepared by: Rev. LCM - Christ Centre Lutheran Church 6 th Annual General Meeting 2023 ROS No. PPM-001-10-09031964-000066 Stewardship Annual Report for 6th AGM After all, everything comes from Him. Therefore, Christian must use their gifts by His will (1 Corinthians 4:7), being good stewards or “caretakers” of what God has entrusted. The Parable of the Bags of Gold (Matthew 25:14 – 30) Jesus tells a story about a man who entrusts his three servants by given them bags of gold, and then go on his journey. When he returns, two of the servants have doubled the money, and their master is overwhelmed with joy and rewards them accordingly. But the third servant hid his gold, the amount is neither increased nor decreased, the master is far from pleased. Praise the Lord, a year of serving as a stewardship post had gone, time flies. By God’s grace, we managed to organise seven Pot Bless lunches’ and dinners’ fellowship for festive season. For the past year 2022 after MCO, only served coffee and tea, and light refreshment like biscuit, cake, fried noodle, rice and etc. on every first week of the month. For the year 2023, since more members are willing to involve in bringing food, we slowly change our light refreshment to more heavy meal lunch on every first Sunday of the month. The attendees were from 35 to 55 people. The following are the fellowship Pot Bless lunches and dinners for festive season & first Sunday of the month: 1) Pot Bless lunch for Easter Sunday Service on 10th April 2022. 2) Pot Bless dinner for Lantern Festival Saturday evening service on 10th September 2022. 3) Pot Bless farewell lunch for Sister Rolina on 2nd October 2022. 4) Ordination Pot Bless lunch celebration for Rev Alvin on 6th November 2022. 5) Christmas Pot Bless dinner on 24th December 2022. 6) Chap Goh Mei celebration Pot Bless lunch on 5th February 2023. 7) The 1st week of March Pot Bless lunch 2023. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the brothers and sisters who cooked, baked, bought and catered food. Also, special thanks to Sister Charlotte and Sister Christine for helping to organise the lunch and dinner events. Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to the councils who are always ready to standby to fill up the empty slots for the Pot Bless form. LCM - Christ Centre Lutheran Church 6 th Annual General Meeting 2023 ROS No. PPM-001-10-09031964-000066 TREASURER’S REPORT – CCLC’S AGM MEETING 16TH APRIL, 2023 This report is based on the year 2022 accounts as audited by Sister Vernie, to whom I hereby express my thanks. I also wish to record my thanks to Sisters Janice, Vivian, Rev. Low and the rest of the Council for their guidance and support in producing the financials reports. CCLC’s overall income for the year 2022 stands at RM98,562.70 and appreciation is hereby extended to all who have contributed so generously to the congregation throughout the year 2022, both directly in cash and also in kind. Despite the generosity of the members, 2022’s income is lower than 2021’s income of RM104,571.00, which in itself is lower than 2020’s income of RM141,571.00. It must be noted that 2022 marks the 3rd consecutive year of decreasing income from our members. CCLC’s total operating expenditure of RM98,973.93 for 2022 marks the 3rd consecutive year on year decrease in actual spending. This total expenditure is also below the RM105,140.00 budgeted for 2022, which was made possible in part through prudent spending and in part through the contributions in kind by members towards the associated costs of moving CCLC’s office from the 4th floor to our current location at Level 1. Nonetheless, we still ran a budget deficit of RM411.23 in 2022. Although the amount is small, it is a trend that we would like to see broken as it is a deficit for the 3rd year running. CCLC’s budget for 2023 will present the Council and the congregation with significant challenges. Whilst the combined Worship, Administration and Ministry budgeted expenditure of RM91,660.00 will see a surmountable increase of RM6,420.00 from 2022, our total operating expenditure will see a significant annual increase of RM64,000.00, as stipulated in the Management Fund section of the budget. This additional expenditure was necessarily undertaken by CCLC due to LCM’s policy change with regards to the maintenance and usage of Luther Centre, especially CCLC’s use of the Chapel, the Worship Halls and the pastoral office previously located on the 4th floor. It must be noted however that Bishop Thomas together with some members of the Exco has been very supportive of our efforts during the 7+ months of negotiations. As a result of our negotiations, the rent commitment we had entered into for the entire Level 1, including the glass cubicle at Upper Level 1, is significantly less onerous than the charges originally proposed by LCM’s committee which was for CCLC to rent the Chapel and Faith Hall 1 on individual 4-hour block basis plus monthly rent for pastoral office space on the 4th floor. In anticipation of the pending rent commitment of RM3,333.00 per month to LCM and the corresponding ancillary expenses for utilities from January 2023 onwards, the Council began its search for a tenant to operate a food and beverage outlet at the glass cubicle from as early as June 2022. Having met with no less than 10 potential tenants accompanied by several site visits to date, our search for the right tenant continues. CCLC has however been able to enjoy the benefit of collecting rent for the usage of the Chapel and also the Faith Halls for weddings and functions on days where we do not have any activities. The net rent collected for the Chapel and Faith Hall 1 for each wedding/booking is about RM1,100.00 and we have had 2 bookings so far this year. 27
I -- LCM - Christ Centre Lutheran Church Ill' ROS No. PPM-001-10-09031964-000066 6th Annual General Meeting 2023 Whilst this sum contributes towards our monthly rent, it is still insufficient to meet our commitment to LCM. In conclusion, the manner in which CCLC will be able to meet its expenditure commitments for 2023 depends very much on our ability to secure a tenant for the cubicle, the letting out of the Chapel and Faith Halls for events and lastly by our members stepping up with offerings and pledges. For the latter, I know some of us can and I hope, will do more. We are always open to and very much welcome any suggestions and assistance that members may have and look forward to hearing from you. With regards to the letting out of the Chapel and Faith Halls, I would like to propose our Christmas service for this year be held on the Sunday of 24th December. I hope that we can have a discussion on this matter in the, "any other business• section of this meeting. Thank you for your time this morning and please contact me should you have questions. 28
