Version 5.2

FORMATION OF EARTH

Learners Identified and visualized the factors that led to
the changes on the earth and that had resulted in the
current state of the planet. They created the process
diagram of Planet earth’s formation using online tool
Popplet.com and labeled the various stages involved in
the formation of earth using simple descriptions and
pictures

PRODUCT ANALYSIS

& PRODUCTSPP

Learner were given Introduction to Design Theory and studied
in detail the elements & principles of design in the last couple
of weeks They understood the design factors to be kept in
mind while analyzing a product and reflected their
understanding by doing product anlaysis of their choice in a
table in MS-doc & were able to connect to the IB Key concept.

ANIMATION- GIF IMAGES

MA

Oakridgers understood the purpose of Gif Images and their
working. Learn to create an animation loop using online
animation maker Abcya Animate” and run it as Gif image
using any browser. Learners created an animation on the
Parts of the Earth including core, crust and mantle. They
added appropriate pictures and dialogues to the animation
and adjust the speed of its running by specifying the correct
number of frames per second.

DESIGN POJECT

Learners were shown Earthquake Resistant House
models through the Google Science Journal portal and
brainstormed the ways to construct it and developed a
3D model of it using Google Sketchup software

EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT
BUILDING PROCESS

Learners started building an Earthquake Resistant
House that can withstand extreme tremors without any
damage to it’s physical structure. They used materials
like Cardboard, Sticky tapes,Color sheets, rubber bands
etc. and constructed the house.

Learners tested the durability of the house using
Google Science App (accelerometer) and measured the
vibrations observing the status of the structure.
Inferences were made that the test is successful when
minimum vibrations were absorbed by the house.

DESIGN PORTFOLIO

Learners reflected on the design cycle through a design
portfolio where they described the real world problem
they identified and the solution they came up for the
same. They also analysed the product they designed
and tested it.
