活动介绍 华乐团介绍 apuclcs.coc2023 Introduction of Event Introduction of APU Chinese Orchestra Team 亚太科技大学华文学会华乐组 于2015年10月成立，至今已有 8年历史。其宗旨为宣扬中华 乐器文化，以乐会友。近几年 来，亚大华乐团积极参与了校 内外大小的演出，已积累更多 的演出经验。参与的演出有新 春庆典，亚大文化之夜，中秋 晚会，公益演出等等。 亚太科技大学华文学会华乐组 于2015年10月成立，至今已有 8年历史。其宗旨为宣扬中华 乐器文化，以乐会友。近几年 来，亚大华乐团积极参与了校 内外大小的演出，已积累更多 的演出经验。参与的演出有新 春庆典，亚大文化之夜，中秋 晚会，公益演出等等。 The APU CLCS Chinese Orchestra Team was established in October 2015. The team mission is to promote Chinese culture and Chinese musical instruments. Previously, the group had actively participated in different types of performance to achieve more stage performing experience. Some of the performances have done previously include New Year Celebrations, Multicultural nights and several public performances. Under the guidance of Miss Umi Lem, the orchestra team had successfully held three concerts until now: "Musicians' Passion", "Symphony of Evolution", "Wu Bom Ba" and "Chang Xiang" Every music is presented in a unique way to let the audience enjoy and learn about different types of music. 1

Standing in the position of chairperson of this Chinese Orchestra Concert, as I reflect on the entire preparation and performance process, I can't help but feel deeply moved. As a music enthusiast, being able to take part in the organization of this musical extravaganza is an immensely honorable experience. This performance is not just a musical exchange, it's also the continuation of Chinese culture. The performers' talents and passion for Chinese orchestral music are fully showcased on the stage. The applause and cheers from the audience are the best rewards for their hard work, and they also serve as encouragement and recognition for our entire team. As the chairperson of this event, I have also keenly realized the importance of teamwork. Each person's dedication, each person's role, is like a note in a melody, interweaving with each other to create a wonderful harmony. I take pride in the unity and understanding within our team, as it's one of the key elements of growth in our lives. This concert not only allowed us to showcase the artistic charm of Chinese orchestral music but also gave me a deeper understanding of the power of music. I sincerely thank everyone for sparing your time to participate in this concert. I always believe that fate brought us together to gather at this venue and enjoy this musical feast, just like the theme of the concert, "Reminiscence". When I was assigned as an assistant project manager, I felt lost and unsure, but fortunately, with all of the committee by my side, we embarked on this journey for 86 days with love and enthusiasm. Organizing an event is never an easy job, but together we have gained more confidence and determination. Within this tight timeline, everyone has given their best, even sacrificing their time and energy, to present an extraordinary concert for all of you, and I am very proud of all of the committee. I hope that each one of you, while listening to every piece, not only savor the memories of the past but also deeply imprint the feelings and emotions of that moment in your hearts, healing you in the days to come. Looking back on the preparation process of this Chinese music concert, I feel very gratified and happy. First of all, I would like to express my thanks to every partner involved and all parties involved in the concert. Thank you everyone for accompanying me through all the difficulties from 0 to 100. I am very touched by everyone's contribution, dedication and hard work during this period. I have seen all the sweat and tears that everyone has shed along the way and remembered them in my heart. Everyone's active cooperation and tolerance in communication, as well as the spirit of supporting each other in times of difficulty, are the keys to our successful completion of the concert. Hi, I am Hoeng Meng, the conductor and percussionist for this concert. I embarked on my Chinese orchestra journey in 2015, joining the orchestra team during my secondary school years. I learned percussion and conducting throughout my high school period. After graduating from high school, I became a member of the Asia Pacific Chinese Orchestra, where I remain to this day. I am deeply appreciative of the Chinese Orchestra Team and Teacher Umi for granting me this opportunity to conduct a piece in this concert – " The Pursuit of Happiness". Eight years ago, it marked my first encounter with a major piece of Chinese music: at that time, I was just a junior percussionist handling the cymbals. Now, eight years later, I stand on the conductor's podium, and everything feels rather surreal. Organizing a concert is no simple task; its success hinges on the collaborative efforts of everyone involved. I extend my gratitude to the organizing committee, the volunteers, the coaches, the musicians, and each one of you who came to support us! I hope you thoroughly enjoy this concert. To me, the piece describes a group of shepherds riding their horses, galloping on a vast grassland. In the background, fluffy white clouds rest atop a clear blue sky, dotted with some occasional passing birds. There is a majestic yet relaxing feel to it. I am grateful for your support and guidance. During my secondary school years, I participated in the Chinese Orchestra of Pay Fong Middle School, where I experienced the enchantment of music.
