In 2014, I introduced my first lesson plan download for the popular Disney movie at the time “Frozen”. When COVID
online teaching jobs became available March 2020, I was recruited to teach 6th grade ELA again by a colleague on Cape
Cod. I created lesson plans for English Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies based on my previous experience working as
a 6th grade ELA teacher, grade 10 American Literature teacher and online educator for Virtual High School. During this
period, I was introduced to many outstanding online educators preschool to grade 12. My lesson plans today reflect my
more recent experiences.

The Dance-N-Learn® thematic plans are gender-neutral and include dance combinations, crafts, coloring pages, snacks to
make with parental permission, games and more, for one-class or a one-day event for your grades PPK students aged 3-6.

MEET JANN DAVIS
JANN DAVIS, a "GRANDFLUENCER" for the dance studio industry, is a dance education consultant, assisting dance
educators, facility owners, and enrichment program directors to organize their Dance Classrooms®, creating
benchmarks, unit and lesson plans for dance education, dance assessment rubrics, and classroom management
strategies. Ms. Davis. is a former studio owner with three locations in the Boston area who has a degree in
instructional educational design from Harvard University.
Jann presents professional development seminars to dance educators throughout the USA who are searching for
a new model, a 21st century approach to dance education at conventions and at private in-house workshops. She

time, I learned so much about the parade and how it came about. I HIGHLY recommend this one! Watch the

BOOK PREDICTIONS

Prior to reading, show the students the book jacket and ask them what they think the book will be about. Have the students make
predictions about what they think happened if they attend a Thanksgiving Day Parade in person. Allow each dancer to make a
prediction to increase engagement. After reading, see how well they predicted!

Make Your Own Macy’s Day Balloon

Directions
After watching the Macy’s Day Parade video clip have each child discuss making their own balloon. Keep it simple design tiaras, noses, eyes,
anything the kids can think of to make their balloon special. Think animals, heroes, community friends etc. Cut out the design from the
construction paper and tape on or you can use glue sponges.
Some friends take pictures of each child with their balloon on a green screen and print them out at CVS or Walgreens.

DANCE4KIDS CONVENTION
A Note From Jann
Like many of you I follow multiple pages and groups on social media. As many of you know, I owned a dance
studio with three locations in the Greater Boston area, until I transitioned into public education first as an English
teacher and then as a technology integration specialist.
Many social media posts concern the why and how of teaching dance to the bread and butter of a dance studio
business, the preschool to 3rd grade student. This age group is the most energetic, and if you carefully review your
tuition receipts spend the most money per hour.
I was convinced by a long-time educational colleague to offer a conference for dance educators focused on this
specific age group. Mark your calendars for June 16-17, the date chosen to offer an in person (with of course
digital access) for our first Dance4Kids Convention. I am researching locations in the Greater Boston Area. If you
