NOW

A career is an occupation or profession, especially one who requiring special training that
followed as one’s lifework. It also can define as a person’s progress or general course of action
through life or a phase of life, as in some profession or undertaking. When I was 16, I started
thinking about what I wanted to do when I grew up although it is prosaic. It is my dream to
have a career that can make every single person have a good smile. The smile conveys that
they are happy even though there are a lot of problems in their life. Seeing other people smile
could also lighten my mood. When I see them smile, I am also happy. Being a dentist is my
other dream job because I always wanted to work in healthcare. It is a joy for me when I can
change a person’s life by creating a healthy smile on their face. Dentist is a person who is very
skilled in and licensed to practice the prevention, the diagnosis, and treatment of diseases,
injuries and malformations of the teeth, jaws and mouth. It also known as a person who makes
and insert false teeth. Therefore, this writing is going to analyse my particular career which is
a dentist that I am interested in besides my career now which are working in general dental
practice and providing patients, providing an opportunity to work at the hospital as well as
cosmetic dentistry.

First and foremost, nowadays
most dentists choose to work in
general dental practice and provide
patients. I can imagine that when I
stared work in general dental
practice, I could cover a range of
treatment that can protecting and
maintaining a good smile of a
person. The first thing that I need to
do is joining dental foundation training at universities that offering dentistry foundation. For
example, International Islamic University Malaysia, Islamic Science University of Malaysia and
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Those university are among the best university in our country
because they can compete other country university at the overseas. As a result, this
experience can help me to perform in my career based on the knowledge gained from the
training that I have been through. Furthermore, being a dentist also allows flexibility in
wherever place and time. So, become a dentist can make me archive new skill that are
important for me to continue my life with good atmosphere. That being said because there is

no specific working time for a dentist to run their clinics. It depends on that dentist to schedule
their own working hours. As a teacher right now, there are specific working time for a teacher
to run to their school. It is because a teacher needs to come early as same as their students.
As a teacher, I must wait my students comes to me while if I as a dentist my patient just needs
to wait for me. Because of that, I choose to be a dentist beside my career right now.

Besides, being a dentist also
provides an opportunity to work at the
hospital. Despite this fact, hospital
dentistry requires more specialisation
in a particular area. This fact supports
one of the reasons why I choose this
career besides teaching. As a teacher,
there are no specialisation because
nowadays a teacher needs to teach
their students without looking the
teacher’s specialisation. For instance, a teacher with specialisation science and english needs
to teach Bahasa Melayu to their students. This happened because of a lack of teachers of
some subject on the school. So, the school didn’t have no choice besides ask other teacher
who not have specialisation of the subject to teach it. After that, the hospital dentistry needs
more attention and experience than dentists who work in general practice. Because of that,
the time is not flexible as general dental practice and requires more working hours. The
hospital dentistry is not suitable for someone who has more commitment in their life. However,
it is a challenge that a dentist needs to face in order to ensure that the community can get the
benefits from their services. I like challenge myself to make sure people can have a good smile
with their family or each other. So, it can bring a good vibe to our community to make our
country a harmonious and peaceful same like other country.

Furthermore, cosmetic dentistry is the one of famous dentist that community find
nowadays. It happened because cosmetics dentistry can improve a patient’s smile and self-
confidence they desire. Having an attractive and healthy smile is important to many people.
The common cosmetic treatments nowadays are teeth whitening treatment, veneers, gum
contouring and braces. As a teacher, I have a power to change my students to become
independent person in their life while always teach them how to responsible in every single
thing that they do in the school. Meanwhile if I as a dentist, I have a power to change people
teeth with my own hand. So, my patient will find the smile of they have always dreamed before.
It is a proud achievement because as a dentist I can pull my patients out of their nightmare.

They no longer need to feel ashamed like before because they already overcome their
weakness. For example, a patient who has problem with missing teeth has difficulty
communicating with the people around him because he is no longer ashamed to open his
mouth after dental treatment.

This brings us to the
conclusion that dentist is the
best career as a teacher
because both of them bring a
lot of beneficial things and
those careers are very
important to the people
nowadays. As a teacher, they
are responsible for educating
their students to be useful
people for the nation and the country. So that they become the heirs of the country who can
be proud of the country’s name to the corners of the world. Meanwhile as a dentist, they are
responsible for ensuring that the dental problems faced by their parents are properly restored.
So that their patients can live their days better than before and with more cheerful smile and
confidence.
