A NOTE FROM FAIRFIELD SUMMER STAGE DIRECTOR
CHRISTY MCINTOSH-NEWSOM
Welcome to Fairfield Summer Stage’s production of ROCK OF AGES: MIDDLE SCHOOL
EDITION! We are so excited to present this hilarious jukebox musical that includes every parent’s
favorite childhood songs! Introducing this music to our kids has been so much fun, and we can’t
wait to share their joy with you tonight!
This cast of 21 students, all entering grades 6-10, have been working tirelessly over the last three
weeks to learn the music, lines, choreography, harmonies, costume changes, and more. We
could not be prouder of their growth, and have absolutely loved working with them on this
production.
Thank you SO MUCH for trusting Fairfield Summer Stage with your amazing kids. We hope that
they have had an amazing three weeks, and to see them again soon! We produce full length
plays and musicals all season long and host auditions for our shows throughout the year. If you

Christy McIntosh-Newsom (Summer Stage
Program Director/ Director)

Christy is a professional actress and Artistic Director of Fairfield Center Stage. As a voice teacher
and audition coach, her students have appeared on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regionally, locally
and on national television and feature films. Christy is proud to have helmed BTC Jr. (which then
merged into DCT Jr. at the Downtown Cabaret, where she served until 2018 as Associate Artistic
Director). She is currently the Drama Director at Fairfield Ludlowe High School. Some directing
highlights include Footloose, A Christmas Carol Experience, Matilda, The Secret Garden,
Barnum, The Music Man, (Fairfield Center Stage) The Hunchback of Notre Dame, In the Heights,
Hairspray, Memphis, Fancy Nancy, and Rapunzel, (Downtown Cabaret). Christy is a proud
member of the Actors' Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA. Proud mommy to CJ and Melody.

Eli Newsom (Summer Stage Producer/ Music
Director)

Along with running the day-to-day operations for Fairfield Center Stage, Eli staffs and supports all
of the production teams throughout the season. He is the former Producing Artistic Director of
both Downtown Cabaret Main Stage Theatre (2015-18) and Bridgeport Theatre Company
(2010-15), where he produced approximately 40 shows. He served as Director at Fairfield Teen
Theatre for seven years, and he works as a Music Director for various Fairfield county school
productions throughout the year. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, after many years in
non-profit and professional theatre as a singer/actor/dancer, he eventually discovered he much
prefers directing and producing. Eli is a proud resident of downtown Fairfield with his wife Christy
(also FCS Artistic Director!), kids CJ and Melody, and dogs Abby and Fozzie Bear.

Ella Magnuson (Choreographer)

Ella is a sophomore at the University of Denver, majoring in strategic communication and
minoring in music. She is involved in the dance club, choir, and Greek life (Delta Zeta). Ella
choreographed Getting to Know… Footloose (2021), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling
Bee (2021), and a modern version of A Midsummer Night's Dream (2020). With FCS, she
performed as Miss Fezziwig in A Christmas Carol Experience (2020, 2021). Ella loves Fairfield
Center Stage and would like to thank Christy McIntosh-Newsom for the many opportunities to
grow as a choreographer, dancer, and performer.

Marty McGrath (Stage Manager)

Marty is thrilled to be returning to Fairfield Summer Stage as Stage Manager for this summer’s
productions of Rock of Ages, Beauty & the Beast, and Suessical. He has worked as a counselor
for prior FSS performances, including Footloose and Puffs, and has enjoyed working on various
Fairfield Center Stage productions, notably: A Christmas Carol Experience, Matilda, and The
Sound of Music. Marty will be studying electrical engineering at Montana Technical University this
fall.

Chris Gensur (Sound Designer)

Chris has been working in professional theatre since Sept. 2000. He was the sound engineer/
sound designer at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre from July 2009 to March 2020 [when the
pandemic hit]. He has worked with Eli & Christy on countless shows. In Feb. 2020, Chris
upgraded from sound board operator to Writer with The Three Pigs at the Cabaret Theatre in
Bridgeport, CT.

Gillian Applebaum (Costume Coordinator/ Junior
Counselor)

Gillian is so happy to be working with Fairfield Center Stage again! She has been in 2 productions
of A Christmas Carol as well as Cinderella. She has loved the opportunity to manage costumes in
this production of Rock of Ages. She is honored to have gotten to be a part of such a wonderful
community.

Aidan Guernsey (Junior Counselor)

Aidan is excited to be working with Fairfield Center Stage this summer! He has been a part of
different shows for the past 4 years. His recent appearances have been in the FLHS productions
of The Wedding Singer and Lord of the Flies, and Fairfield Center Stage’s The Sound of Music,
as Ricky, Ralph, and Rolf, respectively. Next year he will be going into junior year in high school
at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

Maggie Meath (Parent Liaison)

Maggie has been part of Fairfield Center Stage since the first show in 2010. Last year for Fairfield
Summer Stage, she Stage Managed the productions and Music Directed Footloose. Maggie has
directed and produced youth theatre programs in Darien, Westport, Bridgeport and Fairfield for 15
years. She lives in Fairfield with her partner, 3yo and 8 month old.

Chelsea Dacey (Summer Stage First Aid Director)

Chelsea is delighted to be back at Fairfield Summer Stage! Her past summers include directing
The Little Mermaid Jr., Frozen Jr., The Lion King Jr., and so many more! Chelsea is currently a
vocal instructor, and music teacher at Independent Day School. Her performance credits include
many local, regional and off-broadway shows. chelseadacey.com

Brian Bish (Social Media Manager)

BRIAN BISH (Media Manager) is honored to be a part of the Fairfield Center Stage team and is
excited for our return to live theatre! Favorite productions with this creative team include The
Wedding Singer, American Idiot, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Hedwig and the Angry
Inch and Barnum. Much love to Jack!
