WHO'S WHO

Betzabeth Castro (Maria)

Betzabeth is grateful to have her first big musical post-quarantine with
such talented, dedicated, kind people! Recent credits
include Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical (Mrs. Square/ Mama
Square) with Legacy Theater, Cold Sh*t (Eva Nightingale) with ReBirth
Arts Collective, Phenomenal Women+ Inspire (Performer) with
Westport Country Playhouse, Twelfth Night (Feste/ Sebastian) with
Advice for the Players, and Skeleton Crew (Shanita) with Collective
Consciousness. Thanks to everyone who has supported her
throughout this experience!

Mark Silence (Captain von Trapp)

Mark is making his FCS debut in The Sound of Music. This is Mark’s
first appearance in a musical since Camelot in Salt Lake City, Utah in
the year 2000 (over 20 years ago). Before that he could be seen more
frequently in productions including Love’s Labour’s Lost at the San
Francisco Shakespeare Festival, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials
of Oscar Wilde at the Missouri Repertory Theatre, and Rap Master
Ronnie, Gary Trudeau’s musical parody of the Reagan Administration
in Philadelphia. It’s been a long time, but Mark feels fairly confident
that he can still do this.

Lee Price (Max Detweiller)

Lee is thrilled to be making his Fairfield Center Stage Debut in The
Sound of Music. A rising senior Music Theatre Major at Baldwin
Wallace University, some of Lee's favorite regional/educational credits
include Uncle Fester (The Addams Family), Lord Farquaad (Shrek:
The Musical *Metro Award Winner), Referee/Angel (Kinky

Newsom, for her spiritual advisor/husband Nat, and her number 1 son

END NOTES

A NOTE FROM DIRECTOR/ FCS ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
CHRISTY McINTOSH-NEWSOM

Thank you so much for being here at the beautiful Fairfield Commons at the Fairfield Museum &
History Center for our return to live and in person theatre! This is our first full musical in front of an
audience since our production of MATILDA in October 2019. We have kept very, very busy
offering outdoor concerts and virtual plays, readings, and variety shows, but nothing beats being
back together with you- our audience!
We have been wanting to produce THE SOUND OF MUSIC for years, and this seems the perfect
moment for it. We always aim to pick summer shows that the entire family can enjoy together, that
feature our incredible company of young performers and some of our beautiful dancers, and leave
our audiences feeling joyful and inspired. I can think of no greater message for all of us than the
one Mother Abbess delivers at the end of Act One when she sings to "climb every mountain." We
have all been through an unimaginably difficult time, and have all had our proverbial mountains to
climb to return to some semblance of normalcy, or even to define a new normal. Theatre is an art
form meant to be experienced simultaneously, collectively, and together- in one place at one time.
In a theater, studies have shown that audience members' hearts begin to synchronize as they
watch a show. The actors, band, crew and audience become an ensemble, and we have missed
that feeling tremendously. We are so grateful that you are here sharing this joyous moment today
with us!
We have so many people to thank for making this production happen, including our amazing
partners at the Fairfield Museum, all of our incredible sponsors, our unflappable team of
volunteers, our Board of Directors, and everyone who chipped in to ensure that this production
happened swiftly, seamlessly, and SAFELY!
Speaking of safety, we do ask that you remain in your assigned seating pods while the show is
performing. If you need to get uo and use the restroom, please just be mindful of social distancing
and mask up, if you can. We also have actors coming through the grass, so keep your hands and
feet inside the ride at all times!
As a non-profit theatre company, we rely on generous support from our community. The best way
to support us today is by participating in our 50/50 raffle, making a donation, or coming back to
see another show in our 2021/22 season, which we will be announcing before the show! We
thank you so much for being here today and supporting local theatre, and hope to see you in
October for our next live show!
