November Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers, Our very busy second term is well underway and it is lovely to see our school full of the Christmas bustle. So far this term we have had our Remembrance and St Andrew’s Day Assemblies, Stay and Plays for P1-4 parents and carers, Family Learning Team sessions and many extra curricular clubs. With Christmas on the horizon, this will continue with our Christmas Fayre, parties, pantomime and Christmas lunch coming up! It is always a special time in schools and one filled with lots of happy smiling faces, which we love to see! As ever, let us all keep Working Together for Excellence. Kind regards Shirley May Carr St Anthony's November 2023 Newsletter Poppy Appeal This month we joined the rest of the nation in taking part in the Scotland’s Poppy Appeal. We had pupils visiting classes giving everyone the opportunity to contribute to the Poppy Appeal. We were delighted to be able to present our collection cans to a representative from Poppy Scotland. Many thanks to all in our school community who helped to support this cause. SPORTS LEADERS In Term One, our P7 pupils took part in Move and Improve training led by Chris, our Active Schools coordinator. Building on this, we now have pupils in our infant playground at lunchtime from Monday to Thursday leading our P1- 3 pupils in some fun games. It is wonderful to see how well prepared our P7 pupils and just how much their leadership skills have developed already. RAG BAG As many of you know, we have a Rag Bag recycling container in our rear car park. This is regularly collected and we are given an amount of money depending on the weight. Our last collection was 120kg and this raised £40 for our school. It is now empty and ready to be refilled! ANDREW’S DAY ASSEMBLY Well done to our P7s who led our St Andrew’s Day Assembly on Thursday 30th November. They shared interesting facts about Scotland today, Scotland in the past and the historical and religious themes of St Andrew himself. FIRST RECONCILIATION Well done to our P3 pupils who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Thursday 30th November. 33 of our shining stars were joined by their family and friends as they took this next step on their Journey of Faith. We also thank Canon Martin and Canon Matt for leading this service.
