We are now well into our final term of the session at St Anthony’s. We have many things to look forward to this term. Our P1 induction programme starts next week, Sports Day will take place in the next few weeks and plans are underway for each class to have an end of year celebration. End of term reports will also be coming your way early in June. As you can clearly see, we have a very busy term ahead and this delights us. We look forward to sharing with you, as always, all the great things happening through Seesaw and Twitter. As ever, let us all keep Working Together for Excellence Kind regards Shirley May Carr ST ANTHONY'S APRIL 2023 NEWSLETTER HEADTEACHER'S WELCOME FIRST COMMUNION On Saturday 22nd April 13 of our P4 pupils received the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time. This was a wonderful occasion shared with the parish community of St Mary's. All pupils were a credit to themselves, their families and our school. We ask that we continue to pray for these boys and girls as they continue on their Journey of Faith. We also pass on our heartfelt thanks to Canon Martin and the ladies of the parish who supported our boys and girls in their preparation. WHOLE SCHOOL WALK BUDDIES GET TOGETHER There has been great excitement amongst our P6 pupils. A selection of them have been visiting Springvale Nursery Centre to meet their buddies. Whilst there, they had a lovely picnic and story with their buddies as they forged new friendships. We cannot wait until we see our new P1 pupils at their induction days starting on Friday 5th May. ARTICLE 15 I HAVE THE RIGHT TO MEET WITH FRIENDS AND TO JOIN GROUPS On Friday 21st April we held our monthly Whole School Walk. We were blessed with lovely weather. DAFFODIL TEA ARTICLE 28 - I HAVE THE RIGHT TO AN EDUCATION ARTICLE 31 - I HAVE A RIGHT TO RELAX AND PLAY On Friday 31st March our P1-P3 classes held a Daffodil Tea. This was a very special occasion where parents and carers came along and were entertained with some wonderful singing, they were led in prayer and planted some seeds with family members. A huge thanks to our fabulous catering team who provided amazing treats for our guests.
NETBALL Our P6 and P7 Netball teams have been practising very hard every Thursday under the coaching of Miss Bonn. As well as this, they have attended a 3 Towns Netball Champions League where the three teams have performed very well. Netball training will recommence on Thursday 25th May with the help of Chris, our Active Schools Co-ordinator and some senior pupils from St Matthew's. SPECIAL VISITORS On Friday 24th March, we had some very special visitors to our school. Mr Hibberd, a parent of one of our P2 pupils, brought along some of his lovely lambs and calves. All pupils were given the opportunity to meet and hold them. Some of the lambs were only a day old! They were also given the chance to sit in a real tractor. Many thanks to Mr Hibberd and for allowing our children to experience this fabulous opportunity.
