April Newsletter 2024

Red and Yellow Creative Ilustrated Classroom Newsletter (6)

Dear Parents and Carers, We are now well into our final term of the session at St Anthony’s and there are many things to look forward to. Our P1 induction programme starts this Friday, Sports Day will take place in the next few weeks and plans are underway for each class to have an end of year celebration. End of term reports will also be coming your way in June.We look forward to sharing with you, as always, all the great things happening through Seesaw and Twitter. As ever, let us all keep Working Together for Excellence. Kind regards, Shirley May Carr St Anthony's April 2024 Newsletter First Communion On Saturday 20th April, 33 of our P4 pupils received the Sacrament of First Eucharist. This was a wonderful occasion shared with the parish community of St Mary's. All pupils were a credit to themselves, their families and our school. We ask that you continue to pray for these children as they continue on their Journey of Faith. We also pass on our heartfelt thanks to Canon Martin and the parish who supported our boys and girls in their preparation for this Blessed Sacrament. Buddies Get Together There has been great excitement amongst our P6 pupils. Some have visited Springvale Early Years Centre to meet their buddies. Whilst there, they had a lovely time playing with and leading their buddies in games. We cannot wait until we see our all new P1 pupils at their induction days beginning on Friday 3rd May. Beat the Street As many of you know, we took part in the Beat the Street campaign this year. This initiative encouraged all in our community to get out and travel in a healthy way. We were blown away with the response from our community. As a result, we secured first place for the averages within North Ayrshire Mainland Schools and second for the total for North Ayrshire Mainland schools. We will receive £250 in book vouchers and a trophy to celebrate our great achievement! NETBALL Our P6 and P7 Netball team has been practising very hard each Thursday under the coaching of Sports Leaders from Saint Matthew’s. As well as this, they have attended a 3 Towns Netball Champions League where the team has performed very well. We have qualified for the North Ayrshire Finals to be held on Thursday 13th June at St Matthew’s Academy. Article 15 I have the right to meet with friends and join groups Dodgeball Mania As has become a tradition here at St Anthony’s, we recently held our annual Dodgeball Mania competition. This took place each lunchtime last week for pupils in P4-P7. All matches were played out in a competitive spirit with great sportmanship being shown by all. The winning team can be seen below. This team came out victorious in a closely fought final on Friday 26th April. A huge congratulations to them and a big thank you to Mr Armstrong for running this event.
