PROPHET MUHAMMAD S.A.W
JOURNEY OF LIFE
Mohamad Haris Arfan Bin Zairul Nizar
1 Muslim
Rasulullah's S.A.W
Migration To Madinah
(Hijrah)
The Arabic term 'Hijrah'
(migration) is derived from
'hajara' which means 'to shift'.
Rasulullah migrate from Makkah
to Madinah. The migration to
Madinah is on 12 Rabiulawwal,
662M.
Rasulullah S.A.W migrated at night, he
was accompanied by Abu Bakar,
knowing that Rasulullah S.A.W had
received support from people outside
Makkah, the leaders of Quraisy planned
to murder the prophet because the
Quraisy were afraid that he will
influence others with Islam will be
stronger. The quraisy assigned some of
their youths to lay siege to his house to
kill him.
On that same night, Rasulullah had
intended to migrate. Even though his
house was under siege, with the help
of Allah S.W.T, the youths fell asleep
thus rasulullah managed to escape
safely. In the course of his migration,
Rasulullah did not head straight to
Madinah, instead, he went to hide in
one cave named cave Thur for three
days. to ensure that they reach
Madinah safely, the prophet had
engaged a travel guide named
Abdullah bin Arqat.
They were discovered by Suraqah bin
ja'syam. After facing several
challenges throughout the journey,
Rasulullah and Abu Bakar safely
arrived at Madinah on the 12
Rabiulawwal.
The first two things that
Prophet Muhammad did
When he arrived at
Madinah
Building a Masjid/Mosque which is
Masjid An-Nabawi
Establishing brotherhood relations
between the Muhajirins and Ansars
Replica of Masjid An-Nabawi before
When Rasulullah entered Madinh, the
camel that he was riding had stopped
at a piece of land belonging to 2
orphans (Anak Yatim) among the
Ansars. Rasulullah then ordered for a
Masjid to be build on that land. He
called the 2 orphans and bought the
land for 10 dirhams (RM12.90) from
them.
The companions and Rasulullah
himself had worked together to build
the mosque. The walls of the mosque
were made out of mud and trunks of
date trees were used to build the
pillars. The roof of the Masjid was
made from fonds of dte trees while
the floor of the masjid was not
covered by anything except by sand
and dust.
Establishing
brotherhood between
the Muhajirin and
Ansar tribes
This is the second action that
Rasulullah did when he arrived at
Madinah. Rasulullah wanted to
establish brotherhood ties
between his companions from the
Muhajirin and Ansar tribes, on the
basis of truth and equality. This is
because brotherhood is among
the most important foundation in
Islam
The Basis Of Truth
Truth here refers to the syari'ah
(Muslim code of law) that Allah has
revealed the syari'ah that is contained
in the Qur'an is a cler truth, as Allah
mentioned:
"it is he who has sent down the book (Al-Qur'an) to
you (Muhammad) with truth, confirming what came
before it. And he sent down the taurat and the Injil."
Ali Imran: 3
The Basis Of Equality
Islam is a religion that does not place
highest priority to wealth, rank and
status of person. The honour of a
person depends on his or her level of
taqwa (consciousness of Allah). Even
a Millionaire who does not posses
taqwa would not be regarded as
honourable or dignified in Islam. All
Muslims are equal to one another and
it is only the level of taqwa that would
make a person more honourable than
another
"verily, the most honourable of you with Allah is
that (believer) who has taqwa Al-Hujurat: 13
Rasulullah had mentioned in a hadith,
there is no superiority for those of the
Arabic decsent over those who were
not of the Arabic decsent except in
terms of taqwa
Lessons learned
The migration of Rasulullah showed his
willingness to sacrifice his wealth,
energy, homeland and even self for the
sake of upholding the religion of truth,
whenever the need arises. It also
showed his careful and strategic
planning. This is evident when
Rasulullah went to hide for 3 dys in the
Thur cave to confuse the Quraisy who
were after him. Rasulullah had also
hired a travel guide. In all these are
lessons for the Muslims to take heed-
that it is very important to do
something in a properand tactical way.
Abu Bakar r.a was a dear friend to
Rasulullah, whom he loved very
much. He was asked to accompany
Rasulullah in his migration. This
clearly showed the high regard
Rasulullah had for him.
