Congratulatory speech

Dear graduates, congratulations!
Graduation is the time we celebrate fulfilment and
success, accomplishment and triumph, and
determination and hard work of the young learners.
It is a moment for parents and teachers to celebrate
the victory of the graduates in completing another
milestone of education.

The Class of 2022 has a fighting spirit like no other,
having defied the odds brought by the pandemic. They
have marched through the difficulties of online classes
and constant changes of learning environments.
Despite all these challenges, these students have stood firm to their purpose and now
stand before you today as overcomers, ready to pursue the future.

Dear graduates, having completed your secondary school studies, you have not just
been equipped with academic knowledge, but have also acquired core values and
developed leadership and entrepreneurial skills through participating in school events.
You have set a good example for your juniors by upholding the standards of this
school. May the time you have spent at Hua Xia International School be a motivation
to you to give back to society.

Class of 2022, with your rich experiences and Cambridge qualifications in hand, doors
to the best opportunities will be open to you to help you shape your destiny. May you
continue to be resilient as you navigate the challenges posed by a dynamic and
globalized society. Let your unique individuality shine in the midst of the diverse
world you are stepping into. Just as Henry David Thoreau has said, ‘go confidently in
the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.’

Once again, congratulations! I look forward to your continued success.

Yours sincerely,

DatoSriAngLaiHeeJP

Valedictory Speech

It is a great honor to be delivering the valediction for
this group of inspiring individuals; people that I have
grown with and have come to deeply respect over the
past few years. Graduates, I am incredibly proud of us.
Our collective actions in the classroom, in the arts, in
the lab, out on the playing field, and our resilience
during the Covid Pandemic represent our integrity,
dedication and compassion. We have faced many
challenges in our journey so far; tireless nights,
stressful days, online classes, covid pandemic and above
all, Cambridge IGCSE exams.

There have been times we all have faced when the
mountain in front of us looks so insurmountable that
it seems pointless to try and climb. But through the uncertainty, we didn’t give up. We
are vigilant in the face of a challenge, because it is not our failures that define us, but
rather how we overcome them.

Graduating class of 2022, let’s take a moment to thank the school management and
our beloved teachers and parents who have helped us throughout our journey at HXIS.
With the global outbreak of COVID-19, school had to be carried out in a completely new
and unseen way, vastly different than it was before. Teachers put in a lot of effort to
transform their courses from in-person to online and did their best to support the
education of each and every student through these unprecedented times. To our
parents, thank you for encouraging us and taking care of us, making sure that we are
in the best condition to tackle our day-to-day school life.

Although it may seem that we are ending this chapter in life and setting out on this
mountain alone, I find comfort in knowing that our paths are bound to cross as we set
out to the peak. And when I look back on the good old glory days of secondary school,
I won’t first remember a pandemic, but rather my friends and teachers and the
everlasting good memories. I look forward to seeing my fellow students grow and impact
the world around them.

Congratulations to all of us, the class of 2022.
Good luck to all, and may everyone find happiness in what the future holds.

Yours sincerely,

KongJunYi

Valedictorian

Kong Jun Yi

Kong Jun Yi, the valedictorian for Year 11 class of 2022, is from Year 11 Newton,
the science stream class. Like many other students from Year 11, he chose to
take the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) as a
pathway for his tertiary education. He has been a top scorer over the years of
his secondary school journey at Hua Xia International School.

Jun Yi’s main strength is his positive attitude towards challenges and his
extraordinary quality is his resilience and dedication which have made him an
excellent role model for his peers. Jun Yi’s accomplishments are truly impressive
as he is not only an excellent student academically, but also is very active in
non-academic school activities such as sports and music. He was appointed as a
member of the prefectorial board when he was in Year 7 and promoted to the
Head of prefectorial board in Year 10. In addition, he has been the president of
Hua Xia International School scouts since Year 9.

Due to his stunning performance and interest in mathematics, Jun Yi is looking
forward to pursuing his tertiary education in the field of mathematics. He has
constantly shown the qualities of a leader, carried out his duties responsibly
and led by example. Jun Yi encourages everyone to “believe in the impossible.”
