Sonia Rivera
Sonia Rivera is a native of Michigan and has lived in
the Houston area since the age of 19. She is the
daughter of Mexican Immigrants who spent the early
part of her life as migrant farm workers, and
ultimately settled in the State of Michigan. While in
college, she majored in Psychology, and minored in
Sociology. She has over 25 years of experience in
project management, program development, staff
training & development, writing policies & procedures
for new companies, and participated in
various community needs assessment projects. She
spent the first 11 years of her professional career
working within the nonprofit sector, managing and
developing youth programs under the Health and
Human Service umbrella, with high risk youth
populations providing Educational and Social
Support Programs in the areas of Substance
Abuse Prevention, Intervention, and Youth Homelessness, prior to forming her own corporation
and nonprofit in 2008, and 2010 respectively.
Sonia has actively served with numerous other community organizations through the years such
as:

• Hispanic Women in Leadership; Board Member
• Latino Learning Center, Special Event Coordinator
• Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; Committee Member
• Texas Association of Hispanic Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC); Board Secretary
• Hispanic Scholarship Forum, Houston Advisory Board Member
• Talento Bilingue de Houston Cultural Arts Center; Fund development and Special Events
Coordinator
• National Hispanic Professional Organization (NHPO); President
The NHPO provides career, professional, and small business owners development, with
focus on strategic partnerships, and chapter creation.
In 2016 Sonia, was invited to lead the Texas Latino GOP PAC as the Executive Director, in this
role, she has been responsible for growing membership in the PAC, planning monthly networking,
and community events to provide individuals not typically involved in the Party to meet and greet
their elected officials, to provide a Q&A forum, and allow individuals to familiarize themselves with
our leaders, exchange ideas on civic engagement in Hispanic Communities, as well encouraging
the members to increase their own participation by running and/or supporting political campaigns.
Sonia continues to work as a consultant providing support services to small businesses.
