The Brave Farmer

The Brave Farmer by Nur Fariza Izwana Binti Mohd Fadhil Ikhwan


Once upon a time, there lived a young farmer named Jack in a small village near the Greena Forest. He was a hardworking farmer that always help his father at their family farm. Jack is also an honest and kind man.


Everyone in the village loves him because of his kindness. Every day, he goes to his farm to take care of his crops. He would water his crops from the river water and put fertilizer on his plants.


One day, a terrible storm happened in their village. The wind blew heavily and the sky turned dark. All the villagers including Jack cannot go anywhere because of that storm.


After the huge storm, all the crops and plants withered and died. Jack’ s farm also got ruined by the storm. The river became shallower, muddy and filled with rubbish.


When Jack and other farmer were walking to check their farm, they heard a strange noise coming from the river nearby. Suddenly, there is a water monster jumped out from the river. It has huge eyes, green hair and pinky dots on its body. It was screaming in a loud voice and splashing the river water everywhere.


“ Don ’t come here anymore! I will not give my water to all of you! ” , screamed the monster. All the villagers were terrified and did not go to the river anymore. Don't come here!


After a week, Jack and the other farmers feel worried because the water source from the river cannot be used for their crops. All of their crops started to turn yellow. Jack then decided to go to meet the forest keeper in the Greena Forest.


He went on a journey to meet the forest keeper to find the solution and to drive away the monster from their river. Jack walked through the forests, hiked numerous hills and slept in there alone.


After many days of traveling, he met the forest keeper and ask for a solution for the problem.


“Dear forest keeper, a monster appeared in our village. Can you help us defeated that monster?” , Jack pleaded. “ Can you draw the monster?, ” asked The forest keeper curiously. Jack then drew a picture of the monster on a piece of paper.


After observing the drawing, the forest keeper then explained that the water monster was mad because the river is polluted. But no one care about it so it become very mad. He then gave Jack a magic rake and told him to ask all the villagers to work together clean their river. Water monster


Jack returned to his village with advice from the forest keeper and gathered all of the villagers. “ We should clean the river and our village area together. The water monster will go away if our surrounding is clean ” , said Jack to the villagers.


After that, all of the villagers worked together to pick up all the rubbish and wood that pollute the river. The river become more cleaner.


Since that day, the water monster disappeared and the crops flourished once more, and the villagers lived in harmony.


Moral of the story: Bravery will make our life better. We also should take care of our environment to live in harmony and peace. Overall, the story encourages readers to be courageous and cooperative in their own lives.
