We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;

One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will

To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Ulysses, Alfred, Lord Tennyson

Grandpa

I (and my sisters) grew up at your feet. In the same house where those feet last tread. Where
many joys manifested and many challenges took root. In that house, there was a door that
betrayed your every move - it gave a loud shriek every time it opened. Its hinges apparently
laboring under the awe of your personality. And with that, a mad scramble began - pretense of
doing homework or reading a book; scurrying off to bed and feigning slumber; modulating
speaking volumes to mask sibling squabbles. This happened every day. No one ever tried to fix
the squeaky door - maybe a bit of oil in the hinges would have done it? In a way, it was our
language: you held that much sway, even the squeak of a door became your forerunner and proxy.
And an effective one too.

So, here now I sit, missing the sound of an old wooden door attached to the walls of a house of
memories and stories. Stories I now can tell my growing children - your great grandchildren. We
all miss you dearly. You occupied so much space in so many lives for so many years. It is hard to
think of tomorrow without you. But we revel in the light of all you gave - the army souls you leave
behind. Your progeny is strong evidence that you were here.

Great Grandpa you were a symbol of wisdom. You told us many stories and you were always

How You Will Be Remembered

The sound of your walking stick tapping the stairs as you descended and we would all scurry into
one pre planned pose to disguise whatever mischief we were up to.
Your prayer room which was like an Aladdin’s cave of treasures.
Your fridge which had every sweet known and unknown to man and your encouragement to “go
into the fridge and take something”. You had a really sweet tooth, as sweet as your personality.
Your endless collection of Betamax tapes; you introduced us to Tom & Jerry. The best times were
when you would travel to Ondo and Granny would say, to us to go chill in your room and yes we
would literally chill in your room all night watching Tom & Jerry or whatever else with your super
cold air conditioner. It was the best theatre experience ever. Your indomitable spirit to keep going
and be self sufficient, you were the best 90 something plus chef.
I could go on but I have to leave room for others to say the same and better.
With this I bid you goodbye but you live on in our thoughts and prayers.

- Boye Odukunle

I would like to thank the Almighty for giving me the grace and opportunity to meet, know and
love you, Papa.
Knowing you gave me a caring Sister and Brothers.
You were a Father to me, to all of us! Always asking if I am OK, showing fatherly concerns...
Asking when I am coming to Lagos so we could spend time together... I can never ask for a better
Father in-law! I pray to the Almighty to forgive your short comings and grant you the highest level
of paradise. Ameen

Tribute to Grandad

I will always remember the times Amina and I would keep you company in your room. You would
tell us stories about the life you lived and would educate us on our country’s history. I will also
never forget you singing, especially the song, ‘How great thou art’. You lived such a great life and
did so much to help people, which inspired me to live my life to its fullest potential and be the
greatest I can be. This just shows how much of an impact you had on people and even though you
may not be here, your impact lives on. I miss you and love you so much grandad. Rest in perfect
peace.

Tribute to Grandad

If I am being completely honest i never thought this day would come or at least not as soon as it
has. My grandpa would always tell my sister and i that he would come for our graduations and
eventually our weddings and i believed him. I remember sitting with grandpa in his room
watching judge judy or listening to him sing, those are memories i will cherish for the rest of my
life. I will miss him very much and his legacy will live forever in our hearts.

- Amina Katagum.

Tribute for Papa

Papa, I feel so blessed that I have worked with one of the best bosses in the world for 24 years! I
have learned priceless lessons from you. I found very great guidance in you. You hugely shaped
my view on life, work and many other things. Sir, you carved your name on hearts not tombstones.
You ensure that all your domestic staff are promptly paid before each month ends. Thank you for
the opportunity to serve you, for always adoring my talents and skills, for telling me what's wrong
and correct. You are so generous and a vessel through which many are blessed. I can't write all

My Condolences

Your grandfather was an extraordinary man. He was our next-door neighbour for more than 10
years, and we bought his house in the Mews when it was time for him to move on. He made it
possible for us to create a lovely family home for our family and I know from my conversations
with him that it gave him great joy to help others.

Chief Akindele

Chief Akindele was a wonderful man and a true friend. He was my neighbour in London for many
decades. We shared many-a-chat during his stays and I always remember his annual birthday
trip to Lourdes. He guided me on my journey through life - from my single days to coming from
Nigeria to my wedding, watching my daughter grow and sharing his love for his own family, of
which he was incredibly proud. He was a true gentleman - generous with his time and
friendship. We will all miss him greatly. May he rest in peace, reunited once more with his
beloved wife.

With love,

- The Hon. Joanna Gardner, Mayor of the Royal Borough
of Kensington & Chelsea (2008-2009) and The Right Honourable

Trixie Gardner, The Baroness Gardner of Parkes. Member of
The House of Lords. Lord Temporal

On my behalf and of Perry’s (My brother, whom Theo was very fond of)
‘’Good people make their exit from this earth faster than evil people. We lack words to express my
grief over the passing on of your phenomenal grandfather. He touched lives without leaving a
space for doubt in our hearts. Indeed, We will remain grateful to God for the lifetime opportunity
to meet your granddad. If not, I would not have been able to fathom the incredible loss his death
has brought. Accept my deepest sympathy and may his soul rest in eternal peace.’’

Our vision is to be a leading Diocese in the Church of
Nigeria (Anglican Communion) in the proclamation of the
Gospel and populating of
God’s Kingdom.

Mission Statement

A ‘Cruce Salus’ (safety of the cross) is our watchword and
will continue to be our guide .
We shall point the way to the Cross of Christ; the source
of our Salvation.

We shall through lip and life endeavour to proclaim our
Risen Lord Jesus to every land and clime through the
spread of the Good New.

We shall focus on Missions and Evangelism.

We shall motivate and inspire all to fulfill their God-given
potentials.

We shall seek to lead people to our ultimate goal, i.e. to
